Chapter 5

Dean outstretched his hand toward me, making water droplets fly forward. I jumped back trying to avoid them; I didn't want to get wet at all. He smirked at what I did.

"Oh sorry." He spoke, keeping that bright smile. I looked at his hand, and then back up to him. I held my hands close. I didn't want to shake it. I was too scared. Plus: It had water on it.

In the distance, another boy with blondish, spiked hair in the front, was jumping over and pulling on the floating lines in the pool. Coach picked his whistle up and blew on it. I started to cover my ears whenever he did that, it was so loud.

"LUCIFER NICHOLAS MUNROE! WHAT DID I TELL YOU ABOUT PLAYING WITH THE LANE LINES?!" He yelled at the boy. "Excuse me boys."  He lowered his voice  back to our level and pushed us aside, jogging and blowing his whistle toward Lucifer, who was mocking him. He left Dean and I alone.

Alone.

I could feel his eyes all over me. I avoided to make eye contact, and I fixed my glasses and coat purposely. I felt so awkward, I rocked on my feet, trying to look natural. My heart beated like crazy.

"So, new manager huh?" Dean tried to make the conversation. I failed to answer; I just nodded yes. "Why not the team?" He kept asking questions.

"I... didn't want to... I'm not so sporty." I replied, giving a half lie. I was so nervous. I was standing and talking alone with the best swimmer on the team. And he's actually talking back to me. The most cowardice.

"That's a shame..." He sounded disappointed.  "As team captain, I am more than happy helping out incoming swimmers." I smiled respectfully, as I shook my head. I kept hearing my younger self screaming  when I first encountered water. I licked my lips.

"No thank you." Was all I could say. All I could force out of my mouth. I wanted to cry, again. I was so mad at myself. But, the feeling broke when I heard Dean chuckle. I looked back up to him. He still had his wonderful smile. That wonderful smile that complimented those glorious green eyes. It made me smile.

"Anyways, what's with the trenchcoat you got there?" He asked, pointing at it.

"W-What about it?" I answered with a question. He scratched the back if his head, like if he was trying to figure out how he was going to say what he was about to speak.

"Well... It is kinda big on you. It's a huge coat and you're-- tiny."  He gave an awkward smile. "I literally thought you were a girl when I first saw you."

"Oh..." I looked off to the side and blushed. I can't believe he thought I was a girl... I pushed my glasses to it's correct place on my nose. "My father gave it to me..." I finally responded.

"Oh?" Dean crossed his arms, and stranded with his feet shoulder with apart, his head tilted, like he wanted to hear more.

"I like it the way it is. Even of it is big in me. My father gave it to me to help me feel... content." I gripped onto the coat. "He's in another state... working hard. I haven't seen him in years.... So he gave me this. And he said 'Whenever you feel alone and scared, wear this coat and hug it tight, and you'll be with me.'"

"That's really nice..." Dean gave a hurt smile. "My father... passed away three years ago."

"I'm sorry..." My heart dropped. It fell and crashed into my stomach. "I didn't mean to..."

"It's okay, really." He cut me off. Forcing that beautiful smile. I felt bad. I felt so bad. It hurt me. It wasn't physically, but it hurt so much it might as well be. And it was all in my chest. Typical me, I could feel my eyes water, and tears starting to stream down my cheeks.

"I'm so sorry..." I stammered, beginning to cry softly.

"Whoa! Hey!" I heard Dean say, his voice sounding surprised and concerned.  And soon enough, I felt both of his hands on my shoulders. A reflexive reaction, I picked my head up quickly. We locked eyes. My glasses covering most of mine. "Why are you crying...?" He asked, softly.

It happened again. The world stopped. It was just us, and nothing else.

I completely forgot he was in his jammers. That he was wet, and shirtless. And I just let him touch me. I didn't move. I didn't complain. I was lost in thought, as I stared at him. I even stopped crying. He squinted, like he was studying my face. Cautiously, he lifted his hands from my shoulders, and brought them closer to my face. I closed my eyes tightly.

All I could feel, was my glasses sliding off my ears.

I reopened my eyes quickly. I looked at Dean. He was in complete awe. He exhaled sharply as a small smile graced those perfect lips.

"Y-Y-Your  eyes..." He stuttered, him sounding anxious for the first time.

"W-What about them...?" I asked, a bit scared.

"They're so blue..." He answered, he painted lightly, as if he had been holding this breath the whole time. I was shocked. No one has ever told me that before.

"Y-Yes, they are... so what...?" I replied, even if it did sound a little rude. Dean sighed, he sighed an admiral sigh.

"They're so beautiful..." He said, barely above a whisper. I blushed, and I was sure it was obvious. We stood there, silent, and stating into each other's eyes. I was speechless, I had nothing to say. We were lost in each other's trance.

"WINCHESTER!" Coach's yelling voice cut in. Dean picked his head up and faced him.

"Yes coach?" He yelled back.

"Get back in the water boy!"

"Y-Yes  coach!" Dean replied. Then he turned back to me, with a comforting smile. "I have to get back to practice..."

"Yeah.. I see that..." I responded quietly, looking at the floor, my hands fidgeting inside the long sleeves. He scoffed and offered me my glasses. I accepted them, but I didn't put them back on. I finally lifted my eyes to meet his one last time.

"Yah know, for the first time  ever... I don't feel like practicing..." He chuckled, as he shook his head unbelievably. Then he turned and walked up to the pool. He looked at me again, and threw me a sarcastic kiss. His hand up in the air as he let himself fall into the pool.

I don't know if you'll believe me...

But I swear to God...

I felt that kiss hit my cheek, like if he actually did it himself.
