...
I remember when I was little... the water crackled as the sunlight shined onto our pale faces, making it hard for us to see...my mother used to always tell us...never go past the tree where the sun never shined down on. My father barely spoke about the forest beyond the tree, but when he did, he told us horrible things about it. He told us the water was black, and the trees were all cut down, that animals always fought and murdered their pray right at the spot...but we never believed him. Me and my brother always wondered about what was beyond that tree, but my mother always told us..."Curiosity killed the cat." And we always told her, "But pleasure brought it back!" She would always roll her eyes, and go back to working on her flowers. One day, our parents were still asleep, and I woke my brother up. We DID go beyond the tree, and disobeyed our parents, the forest beyond the tree was...beautiful. It looked...like the garden of Eden itself. We never expected something so beautiful, we expected a bit like what our father had said. But..we were wrong about the forest. As we walked, we noticed the place getting darker, we felt like something was watching...but we kept walking. Minutes past and as the time flew, the seconds got slower and more fragile. We knew at some point, we had to go back home..but something pushed us on, so we never did. Our curiosity got the best of us, I decided to ask my brother if he was still there, I couldn't see anything. "Jacob, are you there?" I felt around me, no respond. I couldn't feel him. "Ha ha, very funny Jacob! You can stop messing around now!" I shouted out. Still no respond. "Jacob! Your scaring me! Stop it! It's not funny!" I shouted, my voice raising a little. There was still no respond. "Hello? Is someone there? I can't find my mommy." I heard a little girls voice say. "Hello? I can't find my brother!" I shouted to were I heard the voice coming from. The voice giggled a bit. "Will you stay with me?" She asked. "No, I'm sorry. I have to find my brother." I say. "Well that's TO BAD!" I heard her scream. I started running. "JACOB! THAT'S NOT FUNNY! STOP USING YOUR VOICE CHANGER! I KNOW YOU HAVE ONE ON YOUR PHONE!" I screamed out. The voice giggled demonically. I heard my brother scream. I past out. When I woke up, I was in the forest with my brother, close to home. We started running towards the house, it was still day. We ran into our parents arms. "DON'T YOU EVER DO THAT AGAIN!" They sobbed. "YOU WERE GONE FOR FOUR MONTHS! DON'T YOU EVER RUN OUT AND STAY AWAY FROM US AGAIN!" My father yelled. When we got inside, me and my brother saw a note on the counter. It read:
Dear Mommy and Papa,
We're running away. We'll be gone for a few days, we'll miss you! We hope we die.
Love,
Kleo and Jakub
But we noticed something...our names were spelt wrong.
