5: Good Things
Mathias and Lukas spent a lot of time together. What Lukas would have imagined to turn out in a few days before Mathias got tired of him turned into weeks, and weeks into months. Summer turned into autumn, the sun into rain, green into red, orange, yellow and brown. They spent a lot of time together, as Lukas preferred the Dane's company over anyone else's.

"Hej, Lukas, what do you say you try to wheel yourself around? That way, you could also go out alone, if I am ever absent. You could even go and visit your friends, or Emil!" Mathias had said once, and Lukas had done as he asked. That resulted in the two of them leaving the hospital even more.

Mathias had met both of Lukas' friends, which were an angry, bushy-browed Englishman called Arthur, and a happy Romanian called Vladimir, of who Mathias was about seventy percent certain he was a vampire. The two were quite fun, though Mathias needed no reminding of the food the Englishman had cooked. He had taken it with him, and the two others declined, but Mathias was too polite and actually ate some. Well, the scones with jam and clotted cream weren't that bad, but the rest was a bit... burnt.
Vladimir was especially fun in games, that was something Mathias had also learned. He was a pro at thinking of games which Lukas was also able to play, and the games were fun too! They went out, and took turns in pushing Lukas as hard as they could without falling (Arthur lost miserably, Lukas, who was wheeling himself, came third, Vladimir came close second, however Mathias was really the fastest), they sat down, picked a random letter, and saw how many things they could find starting with that letter (Arthur was the best at this game; Lukas came second, Mathias third and Vladimir last), they did 'I-spy-with-my-little-eye' (Vladimir was very good at that, Arthur a little less good, Lukas was at least a little better than Mathias, who could only guess about three), and lastly they took a photo contest to see who could take the best picture of at least one of the others.
The pictures went really well, surprisingly.
Mathias had a beautiful picture of Lukas' face from the side, and you're nearly able to see the sun from behind his face, which gave the perfect lighting.
Arthur had a picture of Vladimir, who was stretching, which was why his shirt was pulled up his shirt a little. He was grinning, and looking over the camera, to Arthur probably.
Vladimir had taken a picture of Mathias who was listening to something Lukas was saying. He was sitting next to the wheelchair on a bench, and he had leant on his elbows, which were resting on the armrest of the wheelchair, creating a really intimate scene.
But, they had all agreed that Lukas had one this contest. At one point, the four had gone to an ice cream restaurant, and Mathias had fallen asleep out of nowhere. The parasol they were sitting under only cast a shadow on half of his face, the other half was exposed to the sun. A nearby glass had cast an irregular pattern on his face, creating a beautiful play with light and darkness. Lukas, who did have a phone, caught that moment, and it was out of question to let anyone else win.
Later, when Mathias and Lukas returned to the hospital, Mathias had to admit that Lukas had fun friends. The four decided to meet up more often.

Mathias also got to meet Emil. He found out that the boy was half Icelandic, and the two were half-brothers. Emil had taken his boyfriend with him, a guy from Hong Kong called Leon. Lukas didn't really approve, but Mathias told him that "all kids grow up eventually", which seemed to calm him down a little.
~
Two years went by, and Lukas and Mathias were happy, despite Lukas' condition, which kept worsening. Lukas wasn't able to stand up anymore, and had to stay in his wheelchair at all times. He was twenty seven now, but not able to take care of himself. He also kept denying that he felt anything for his nurse, who never stopped taking care of him.
Mathias knew he felt something for the Norwegian as well, however, he thought that the patient would never reciprocate his feelings, so he pushed them down, and ignored them. He never left the Norwegian though, and though he also started helping other patients, he'd spend most of his time with Lukas.
But then, one day, he didn't show up.

Word count: 783.
I suspect this story will have about 3 more chapters. I apologize that this was such a stupid filler, but I had to build up for the next chapter. I hope you won't cry.
