Part Two
Seàn is not okay around me.
Every time I glance over at him I see fear strike his eyes.
I don't blame him.
I'd be scared too if everyone was against me.
I tried my best to speak to Seàn.
He is very frightened of me, speaking to him hurt me.
If only he could talk.
If only he wasn't so scared.
I noticed Seàn was watching something on tv.
I snapped out of my thoughts when I saw what it was.
He was watching One-Punch Man, a pretty good anime.
I could tell we liked the same things from the small bit I've known him.
"Hey, I know this show. It's pretty good."
He looked at me with curiosity.
"I haven't watched every episode. I'm sure you have, though."
He shrugged his shoulders and rested his head on his knees.
"Are you alright Seàn?"
He squeezed his eyes shut tight.
"Is there anything I could do to help?"
Seàn mouthed the words, 'It's not safe'.
I bit my lip, "Seàn? Listen buddy it's okay I'm here and everything is okay."
He began to cry softly.
I placed my hand on his shoulder.
"Everything will be okay."
I rubbed his back to show him comfort and safety.
"Trust me."
His eyes shot open.
I felt him trembling.
I removed my hand slowly.
------
He sat there for a good twenty minutes.
I didn't know what to do, but I comforted him.
He seemed to have calmed down.
Seàn mouthed a word, 'Voices'.
I understood what was going on.
Entering the room was a woman dressed in a white professional dress.
Her hair done up in a bun.
She had winged eyeliner and bright rose lipstick.
She sat at the foot of Seàn's bed.
"And who are you?" She asked me.
"Felix. I'm his caretaker."
She nodded her head and faced Seàn.
"Hey Seàn, it's me again."
He looked up slowly. When he saw her face, his bright blue eyes faded.
He wasn't happy to see her.
"How are you doing?"
Seàn gulped. The woman pulled out a pad of paper and a pen for Seàn to write.
He wrote something down.
She read it, and looked at me.
"I'm terribly sorry sir but, may you please exit the room for a short moment?"
I nodded and left.
-----
The woman came out of the room and into the hallway.
"Hey, I assume you'd like to know what is going on."
"Yeah."
"I am his psychiatrist. I try my best to help him, cure him, convince him that Anti is not real."
"Anti?"
"His hallucination. Just read his responses, okay?"
She handed me the paper.
It had neat writing that asked the questions, and messy answered.
I read them.
How are you today?
Frightened.
You always seem to be frightened.
He's everywhere.
He may be, but he is not real.
You tell me that every day.
Because I'm correct, Seàn.
He is real.
How has he been today?
Mocking. Torturing. He is speaking to me now.
What is he saying?
She is bad. Everyone is bad. You are bad. There is no reason to trust anybody.
My heart sunk to my stomach.
His mind forces him to torture himself and lose trust.
He is wrong.
He is never wrong.
There is no reason to worry about Anti.
Don't say his name.
Anti cannot hurt you. He is not real.
Okay.
Seàn, please.
I understand. He is not real. You tell me every day.
Okay Seàn.
His own mind.
Every day just forces him to hate. To hurt himself.
He doesn't realize this is all his fault.
I guess that is just how this world works, though.
