Twenty-Two- Countdown
May 22.
Exactly twenty days until my execution date.
Exactly twenty days left with the people I have grown to enjoy the presence of: Taehyung, Jungkook, even Namjoon.
Exactly twenty days left with Hoseok.
I closed my eyes, tilting my head up as I adjusted slightly onto the bed.
I could feel sleep finally starting to take over me when the door was thrown open. I heard the familiar rattling of the metal handcuffs. I sighed heavily before looking at the intruder.
"Is it time?"
"Yep. I'm sorry, Yoongi. I wish it were different."
I sighed again, closing my eyes again as I breathed in the fresh hospital scent. "Am I fully discharged?"
"Yep."
I felt a lump in my throat as I nodded.
"Want me to step out while you change?"
I nodded again. He gave me a small smile before handing me my pile of clothes, my usual gray jumpsuit.
He exited the room, and I slowly removed the blanket from over my body, stepping onto the cold floor. I winced as I stood up, but shrugged it off. This pain was nothing I couldn't handle.
I unbuttoned my hospital gown, watching as the fabric collided with the floor.
My fingers dangled over the tattoos on my thighs. I had almost forgotten I had them, since it was required that they be covered due to my prisoner's uniform.
My fingertips gently maneuvered over the ink, a sad smile on my face.
I sighed before unfolding the pantsuit, bending over to start putting it on before a pain shot through my body.
I screamed as the painful fumes engulfed my vision.
Arms wrapped around me and needles were inserted into my skin.
After a moment, I calmed down, feeling my face collide with the cold tile floor as I curled up into a ball.
"Shh... they gave you some pain meds. Just breathe and you'll be okay."
"T-T-Thank you, Joon."
He smiled, helping me off the ground, despite the fact that I was only in my underwear and a pair of hospital socks.
"Let's get you dressed, hmm?"
I nodded, swallowing harshly. "S-Sorry I'm so helpless."
He shook his head immediately. "No! You're not. You were shot in the back. That is hella painful. The fact that you even get to leave this place so soon is incredible."
"I guess this means my date is no longer being frozen, huh? Twenty more days?"
He frowned, nodding.
I couldn't respond, watching as he bent down to pull the jumpsuit up. He stopped around my thighs and pointed a finger at my tattoos. "I like these a lot. I didn't realize you had any."
I nodded.
The air was silent as he helped me get dressed. When he was done, he reached into his back pocket. "Okay, I know you hate this part, but it has to be done."
I nodded again.
I felt the metal being clicked in front of my body.

I lay on my cot, back in the jail cell. I was back to being Prisoner 134340 once more.
"Hey Namjoon?"
My guard hummed as he turned to look at me.
"Can I have some chalk? I want to do something."
He shrugged, wandering off. A few minutes later, he returned with a small piece of chalk. He handed it to me before running a hand nervously on the back of his neck.
"I, uh, dropped it on the way over here, so that's why there is so little."
I chuckled, wincing at my wound. "It gets the job done. Thanks Joon!"
He nodded before walking back to his post.
I began scribbling my idea on the cement floor. I wrote the numbers, finishing it off with an X on the first square.
I smiled at my handiwork and dusted the chalk dust off of me.
Twenty more days.

I think this chapter got kind of boring, so, uh, here is a meme!
