Mercy jerked up from her comfortable sleeping position and glared at the clock in her room. 3:12.
Growling, she threw herself back on the wrangled sheets. Another nightmare. She dragged herself to the bathroom, feeling like nothing but dead weight.
Looking in the mirror, she jumped back and screamed. She curled up on the ground as flashes shot off behind her eyes. Blood, a belt, hospital monitor beeps...beeps...THUD!
Mercy ran to the door, pulling it open to see the other girl staying at the motel. The one Norman was watching. As soon as her eyes landed on Mercy, she smiled, "Oh God, you're okay. I heard you scream and came to see if you were alright."
Pulling her lips into a polite enough smile, Mercy laughed, "Oh, I'm fine. I saw a spider. I'm sure my scream scared him off." A tear slipped down her face and onto her arm, "Either that or I drowned him with my over exaggerative tears."
The woman laughed, "I'm sorry for getting you up with my arachnophobia." Mercy apologized, happy to have taken drama class now. The girl waved Mercy off, "Oh, no problem. I'm Annika, by the way." Mercy smiled, "I'm Mercy. I'd love to talk with you a bit more in the morning. Sorry, again. Buh bye now." She said as she pulled the door closed softly.
Mercy waited until she heard her room door close before she snatched her pack of cigarettes from her dresser and stepped outside. She closed her door behind herself, sliding to the ground as she lit a cigarette to officially start the day.
Three hours, two more cigarettes, and tons of tears later, Mercy went back into her room to shower and get dressed. She didn't bother to cover up the puffiness around her eyes, or the red in them. Brushing her teeth, she wrestled her curls into two Minnie Mouse balls on top of her head and she made her way outside.
Just as luck would have it, when she closed her door, Dylan was leaving the house. She stood at the bottom of the stairs, waiting on him. "Hey Dylan." She said, to him as he stopped in front of her. "G'Morning Mercy."
Mercy walked with him to his car, "Dylan, I need a job." She said over his car. Dylan stopped in his tracks, heart beating fast, "Okay, we, I can go see if I can find you-" Mercy cut him off, "You know what I mean Dylan. I wanna work on the farm."
