Can my story be written in another language?

At the moment, we only accept stories written in English, since it is the language our team is currently able to review and manage comfortably.

Is there a minimum or maximum word count?

There is no strict word requirement. However, we recommend keeping your story under 20,000 words so it can be reviewed and considered for anthology features more easily.

Can I mix multiple prompts together?

We recommend focusing on one prompt per story to keep the case file clear and easier to follow.

Can I submit more than one entry?

Yes! You may submit multiple stories as long as each one follows the guidelines and submission process.

How long will each case archive remain open?

Each themed archive will remain open for approximately one month from the date the prompts are published.

Can I share my story in the comments?

While you may discuss the prompts and interact with fellow Sleuths in the comments, we kindly ask participants to avoid excessive self-promotion or advertising.

Only stories submitted through the official submission form will be eligible for anthology consideration and features by the Mystery Shack team.

Can I co-author a story?

Yes, co-authored stories are allowed. However, if your story is selected for features, interviews, or anthology highlights, only one of the authors may be chosen to represent the entry.

Can I submit a story that is already published on my profile?

Yes — as long as the story was written for the current case archive and follows all guidelines.

Will every submitted story be featured in the anthology?

No. While we appreciate every submission, only selected entries that best fit the theme, creativity, and storytelling criteria will be featured by the Mystery Shack team.
