Gonna keep going

Lindsey up there.

Josh POV

  It's been a week since I found out about my parents will. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited to know that they actually thought about me. It's just that the pain of them not being here still hurts you know? Plus I still can't help Lindsey either. I don't want her out there on her own, she has now where to go. "Josh. Josh!" she said snapping her fingers in front of my face. "Huh? What happened?" I asked looking at her confused. "I was asking if you wanted to go to this party Saturday. Clearly you wasn't paying me any mind." she said laughing. It amazes me how she can always forget about her problems and just focus on the here and now. 

  Me on the other hand, I'm not built like that. I guess that's what makes us such good friends. We're polar opposites. "Um yeah. I guess I'll go." I said shrugging my shoulders. "There's no guessing. You were going regardless." she said. "Then why'd you ask me?" I said with one eyebrow raised. "To determine if I needed to lie to you or not." she said shrugging her shoulders. Well at least she was honest. "Can i talk to you for a minute?" I asked her as she nodded her head and followed me outside. "What's up?" she asked me.  "Uh we have less than two weeks until your birthday and you aren't in the least bit worried about that." I said to her.

  Her whole demeanor and expression changed. "You think I'm not worried about that? Hell yeah I'm worried about it. Actually, I'm scared shit less to be honest Josh. That's why I'm trying my damnest not to worry about it. That's the day my life is gonna change. This is why i want to do all the fun things with you while I have the chance Josh." she said as the tears streamed down her face. I instantly felt like a dumb ass for even bringing the topic up. "I thought of something but I don't know if you'll go through with it." I said waiting for her response. "Josh I'm going to be homeless soon. If you plan involves me having a roof or anything over my head, then I want to know." she said as I took a deep breath. "OK so you know how would you feel about staying in the basement?" I asked before I continued. I know what y'all thinking, but it's the best possible solution I can come up with at the moment.

  "I'm all for it. The question is how do we go about making that happen?" she asked. Good thing I planned this far ahead. "I'll let Nasir and everyone else know about the plan. When it's time for you to leave, I'm going to need you to play it off like you're actually going to leave. Wait ten minutes before returning and then knock on the back door. Someone will let you in if it's not me and then rush you downstairs. It'll be up to you to remain discreet while your down there. We can still continue our tradition of cooking when she isn't here, you just have to hurry and get back downstairs afterwards." I said to her. "I love you so much!" she said as she hugged me. I just need her to hold on for 4 months and then we're good. I'm not telling her about the money because I don't want people knowing all of that. 

  That type of attention is not something that I need at this moment. "OK so it's a plan. Now I just have to make sure I follow through on my end." she said wiping her tears. "I really don't know what I'd do without you Josh." she said as she held me tight. "Stop getting all emotional on me." I said making her laugh. "You right. Now that that's out of the way, can we go get ready for this party now?" she asked with a smile on her face. "But it's not until Saturday I said to her. "Josh it's Friday." she said with a straight face. "So why did you say it like the party was a few days away when it's tomorrow? Sheesh." I said to her. She just shrugged her shoulders. I swear this girl can be a weirdo at times. "Come on let's go. We gotta get our outfits ready." she said as she drug me upstairs. 

  The res of the day we spent laying around laughing and joking. I told Nasir and them about the plan and everyone agreed to it. The mostly were telling me how they never actually thought of something like that and allat good jazz. That's good an all but I hope they don't forget. After that, we all headed for bed since it was about 12 in the morning and Linds knew we would probably sleep the whole day away. 

  The Next Day   

  "Josh. Josh. Nigga get up!" Lindsey said as she dragged me out of the bed. "What time is it?" I said rubbing the back of my head.  "It's 6:00 pm" she said as my eyes shot open. You mean to tell me I've been sleep all day? Well damn, what kind of drugs did I take last night? Imma need them again. "Oh damn my bad. I didn't know I was out for that long." I said to her. "Now that you're awake, go shower and allat good stuff." she said as she walked out the room. "You was like a bear in hibernation. Damn." she mumbled as she left. My bad kid. I got up and grabbed my things for the shower before heading in there. After about 20 minutes of having a bathroom concert, I finally got out and proceeded to get dressed. I didn't really rush to get dressed because it was still early so i just threw on some pajamas before heading downstairs to eat. 

  Oh and in case you guys were wondering how we were going to this party without Janine knowing, its easy. She isn't even here. This was one of the many days she would just randomly take off so there's that. I walked into the kitchen towards the smell of some mash potatoes. "Who cooked?" I asked as I walked in. "Larry did. He said he wanted to give you guys a break. He made pork chops, mash potatoes and corn." Josiah said as he continued to eat. Aww I'm proud of them for taking the initiative and doing things on their own without us. I made me a plate and sat at the table and at with them. "This is really good." I said as I took a bite of the pork chop. Good job Josiah. We spent most of our time joking and talking about how their day was. "Josh get up and get dressed." Lindsey said after I took the last bite from my plate.

  "Linds chill it's only 7 something." I said to her. "Boy its 9:25. Troy is coming to get us in five minutes." she said. Well damn, where the hell is time going? "Why didn't you say so?" I said running upstairs to throw my clothes and deodorant on. I made it downstairs in the nick o time because I heard a car horn honk. That must be Troy. "Have fun at the party you guys. Don't worry about Janine. We got ya'll." Josiah said as we left out. "Wait for me." Nasir said following behind us. Forgot to mention that he was coming. When we got outside to the car, I noticed that Lira was already there. Guess he picked her up first. "You ready to have some fun?" she asked me.

  I nervously nodded my head yes. To be honest, this is my first party, I hope I don't look too awkward. We turned up a little while we drove to the party. When we finally made it there, the place was packed. "Looks like I gotta hunt for a parking space." Troy said as he drove a little further up the block before finally finding a space not to far from the house. When we got out the car, my nerves kicked in full force. "I can't wait to find me a girl to dance with." Nasir said. "We're gonna have so much fun." Lira said patting my back. "Yeah, woo, fun." I mentally groaned. A song was booming through out the house as we walked in. "What song is this?" I asked Lira as we walked through the crowds of people. "It's 3005 by Childish Gambino" she yelled to me. "Hold up wait a minute, all good just a week ago. Crew at my house and we party so...." the sing began as everyone turn up. We finally made it to the kitchen and got something to drink. 

  Once the song ended, Lose Control by Missy Elliot came on and it was really a party now. Forgive me, I'm not up to date with the current artist but I know a few songs. "This my shit! Let's go Josh." Lindsey said chugging the last of her soda and pulling me to the dance floor. I've never had a dance with a girl before so I didn't know what to do. "Just follow my lead." she said to me. I guess she could sense my nervousness. She put both of my arms around her and began to move her hips. I tried my best to keep up with her and I think I'm doing great so far. "OK J, I see you." she winked at me. After a few more songs, I went to the kitchen to get me something to drink. Nasir and Troy were dancing with some girls and Lira and Lindsey found themselves dance partners as well. 

  I guess I wasn't paying attention because I bumped into a brick wall. "Yo what the-" I began to say when the person turned around. Guess it wasn't a wall after all. "We meet again." I heard them say before I looked up. It was Ryan. "I didn't expect to see you here." I said to him. "What?" he said as he grabbed my hand and led me to the kitchen. "What were you saying?" he said as I walked to the cooler to grab a water. "I was saying that I didn't expect you to be here." I said as I took a sip. "Yeah my boys wanted me to some out and have some fun so yeah." he said laughing. "If you don't mind me asking, how old are you?" i just wanted to know since he looks a little older. "It's fine. I just turned 19. You think that I'm older don't you?" he asked as I laughed and nodded my head. "It's cool. I get that a lot." he said. 

  "So who you here with?" he ask me as he continued to nod his head to the music. "A couple of my friends. They're somewhere out there on the floor so I can't really point the out to you at the moment." I said motioning to the crowd of people. "That's wassup. Wouldn't have guessed you to be a party type." he said. Shit me either! I guess there's a first time for everything. "Alright now y'all we gonna slow it down a bit. Everyone grab a partner." the DJ said as the song switched to TLC's Diggin On You. "There you are. Come on you." Lindsey said as grabbed my hand. "Um see you around Ryan." I said as he nodded his head. "Have fun." he laughed. Me and Lindsey slow dance to the song. "So did you enjoy the party?" she asked me. 

  "Yes I did actually. Thank you for inviting me." I said to her.  "Oh why do I feel the way I do? When all I can think about is yoooouuu. What was it in a line, that made me fall for you? Do you know, why I'm diggin' diggin' diggin' diggin' on you?" Chilli sung. Her bridge is my favorie part of the song. I noticed that Ryan was staring at me while we were dancing. Well I don't know if he was staring but he was definitely looking in my direction. I shrugged it off as maybe he was looking for someone. "Let me get something to drink before we go. It's a little after 2 in the morning." Lindsey said as I walked her to the kitchen. We bumped into Ryan again. Well not technically bump since he was still here from earlier. "Lindsey this is Ryan. Ryan, this is Lindsey." I said introducing the two. "I didn't know you had other friends. Nice to meet you." Lindsey said as she shook his hand. 

  "Likewise. You look good lil mama." he said as he smiled at her. Aww look at them hitting it off and what not. After a few minutes of us just talking and joking around, Lindsey finally decided she was ready to go. "Ryan it was really nice meeting you but we really have to go." she said to him. "The pleasure is all mine. Nice meeting y'all. Stay safe." he said hugging her and pulling me in for a bro hug. He smelled good, just saying. We went to find Nasir, Troy and Lira and then left. "Tonight was fun." Lindsey said as we walked outside after finally getting everyone. "I even got a few numbers." Nasir said as I laughed. "How you gonna call them? You don't have a phone Tommy!" I said as he threw his middle finger up at me. We all laughed as we went into the car. 

  The ride home was nice and quiet, mostly due to the fact that everyone was now passed out sleep except me and Troy. I spent most of the ride just staring out the window. Do you ever just look out the window and daydream about some of the goals you hope to accomplish or just where you see yourself in the future period? Just me? OK. When our stop finally came up, I woke those two fools up because we had to sneak in the house. "Let's go y'all." I said as they woke up. Luckily, they left backdoor unlock so now we had to just go our separate ways quietly. Mission accomplished. I switched into my night gear and threw my pants in the hamper. A little piece of paper fell out mid air. I looked and saw that it was a number on it. Um, who's is this? I'm too tired to figure it out so I'll look into it tomorrow.
