Reaching Back
'She bowed her head and sobbed. Wishing she could change her awful past. Say the things she should have said, done things differently. "So many regrets." She said quietly as the tears streamed down her face.'
The past can haunt us. At times we can visualize it so perfectly. Hear every word, see every detail. Almost as if we can reach out and touch it, and maybe, just maybe, change it. To Stop ourselves from making a huge mistake, or to unsay hurtful words. It's hard, I know. But the past is exactly that, the past.
As much as some of us would crave the use of a time machine, it is not possible. Every second that passes turns into the past. When you read the opening, that is now the past. So what can we do about regret?
In all honesty, nothing will change the past. But it is never too late to change the present and the future. Often we can learn from our past and ensure we do not repeat the same mistakes.
God knows we are not perfect and He does not expect perfection from us. All we can do is learn from our past and move on.
Ephesians 5:16 KJV
Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
Psalm 118:24 KJV
This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
Each day is a gift. A new chance to do better than the day before. Every single second is precious.
