Chapter 11.
AMETHYST
Later in the evening, the tour guide who introduced herself as Clarissa takes us on a tour round the place and tells us about the place.
Surrounded by water on three sides, Agios Nikolaos combines the sleepy feel of a seaside resort with all the amenities of a cosmopolitan port. Villas and tavernas spill over the town’s three hills to meet a harbour dotted with both mega-yachts and fishing boats.
Every summer, the Municipality of Agios Nikolaos organizes cultural events, music and dance events, theatrical performances, exhibitions, shows. Also, during the Naval week, artistical swimming, water skiing, wind-surfing contests are organized.
She also took us to some spots like the beach, the town's mini market and some eateries too. Nick gets some groceries which his security details keep in the car while we continue our tour of the place. It is a lovely town with alot of adventures. I am glad I picked this town. Nick says we will be staying here for atleast 1 month. I am glad I parked well.
"Let us eat, please. A girl is hungry." I tug at his arm.
"Woman, you mean." He whispers into my ears and I move a safe distance from him. I wonder where all this his new found care or closeness is coming from. I don't like it, it's as simple as that. I won't have him giving me mixed signals and switching it up when we return or when he finds the next available girl that he can sleep with. Old habits die hard, you know.
"You are just in luck, ma'am. Portes is just few minutes from here." Clarissa says, leading us all the way there.
"Welcome to Portes, please have your seat while our waitresses attend to you." The guy at the door says. Hmm, such hospitality.
As we enter, heads turn to look at us. It is a medium sized town with a small town feel. It seems everyone here know each other so a strange face is always easily detected.
We have our seat and a waitress comes to our table.
"Hello, what would you like to have?" She asks.
"You should try out their meatballs, it is amazing." Clarissa chips in.
"Give me whatever she orders." Nick tells the waitress who nods in response.
"I will have Pasta and meatballs. What about you Clarissa?" I say.
"Nothing. Thank you." She replies.
"Oh, come on. It is the least we can do." I say, persuasively.
"Mushroom Risotto is okay." She says.
"Perfect. So one plate of Mushroom Risotto and two plates of Pasta and meatballs. I will have cheese cake for desert. I don't know about these two but damn, I am hungry." The waitress lets out a small laugh as I conclude my statement. Nick does not want desert and Clarissa opted for the same choice I made.
"In time, you will adjust. Thanks for the meal." She says as we head back for our apartment.
It is already evening but the fact that I slept earlier on makes it difficult to sleep right now. I change into shorts and a camisole before heading to the beach view by our apartment.
"Having troubles sleeping?" His deep voice says behind, making me startled.
"Yeah. Same with you?" I ask.
He nods in response before sitting beside me as we enjoy the serenity of the environment.

"Hi, I notice you are new here. My husband and I are also here on a vacation. I am Imogen." A pretty red head introduces herself the moment I open the door to the knock I heard.
"Hi. Amethyst." I reply her.
"I have some cookies for you. I baked them, please enjoy." She says, smiling.
"Thank you. Please come in." I pave way for her to come into the house.
NIKOLAS
The emptiness beside me on the bed is the first thing I notice the next morning when I wake up.
"Amy?" I call out for her but she does not answer. I hear voices of women laughing and I walk to the sitting room to see her having a conversation with another lady.
"Meet my husband." Amethyst says.
"Hi. You must be Nikolas." The lady greets. "I am Imogen." She adds. Such a funny name, sounds more like emoji in my head. I hold in my laughter when Amethyst sends a glare my way, immediately shutting me up. Damn this woman!
"Nice to meet you, Imogen." I walk to where my wife sat and pecked her on the forehead.
"Morning, wifey!" She could kill me for this but this is payback for the look earlier on. Plus, we really don't know these people so for our sanity, it is better we fake a happy relationship.
"Morning, hubby!" She smacks me on the head sending a fake sweet smile my way.
"Awww, you both are so cute." Imogen gets the wrong message and cooes. How dumb can a person get? I roll my eyes mentally.
"She brought cookies. They taste very nice." Amethyst says, handing me a plate containing the said cookies. I take a bite of it and it actually does taste nice. Not as amazing as Celine's but still nice. She is not totally dumb, I take my words back.
"They are nice." The compliment earns a smile from her.
"Thank you. I better get going, Max should be awake now. See you at the candle light hangout?" She says to Amethyst who nods in agreement and sees her to the door.
"What was that all about?" My fireball never disappoints.
"Nothing." I shrug, watching her.
"Alright. Before you flare up again. I just think it is better we portray an actual couple to these people just for the sake of our sanity. It is easier to leave questions unasked than to have unanswered ones." I explain to her.
"Alright." She leaves me surprised when she agrees.
"So what hangout was she talking about?" I ask.
"Oh, it is not like we are going anyway. It is tommorrow night at the Olive Farm." She shrugs it off like it is nothing.
"The whole purpose of this vacation is to loosen up and have fun. So I say we go. It is rude to refuse an invitation, you know." She raises an eyebrow in my direction sending me a sassy look.
•••••
"I still can't fanthom why you want us to attend this thing." She hisses as she fits the last strap of her sandals.
"Simple. We are here to have fun and not stay home all day doing nothing." I point out, matter of factly.
We arrive at the candle light hangout which was already bubbling with actuvities. The setting is like a bonfire night but instead of actual fire at the centre, candles are lined up and lit to illuminate the place.
The first activity is a whispering contest amongst men and women. The women emerge champions and were jumping real hard at their victory. Frankly, I wonder how they did it. The words get lost as you whisper from the first person till the last. So how did they manage not to lose the words in the sentence?
The next lined up game is 'Truth or Dare'. The rules are simple; a bottle is spinned and whoever the head touches gets to answer to the person the tail touches. You are at the liberty to pick which one you want at your first spin. For the second, you must answer the other option and that's how it goes for every two spins.
"Truth or Dare?" I hear Mike ask Joan.
"Truth." She answers.
"Have you ever drowned when swimming?" He asks.
"That is easy. No." She smiles back.
Funny dares were also thrown around like when a lady was asked to take 10 things off her body or when Imogen dared her husband to move his butt like those Chipettes in Alvin and the chipmunks.
The evening was actually fun until.
"You got a dare this time, Amethyst. I will go easy on you because you seem like a nice lady." I smirk, if only you all know how hot tempered this fireball is.
"For 5 minutes, I want a full make out session with your husband." The lady says in a teasing voice, resulting to laughter from everyone.
"That is really easy, Sally. You should have just tossed your chance to me." A guy says looking at her sexually.
Shaking, she stands up and walks to where I sat. She tries very hard to hide her nervousness from other people but we both know what's up so her acts cannot work for me. She squats in front of me but I pull her towards me, shoving her into my arms to send that guy a silent warning. We might be pretending but at least for this time frame, she is mine.
"Ooohhh." Our audience coo.
"No PDAs, just kisses." A voice teases.
"If you don't want to we could just leave this place." I say to her making sure my voice is only audible to both of us.
"No." She says with strange emotions present in her eyes. The yellow light from the candles reflect in her eyes giving off a golden reflection further beautifying them.
She moves closer to me and rests her forehead on mine before she seals our lips in a kiss.
