Chapter 6.
AMETHYST
It is funny how time flies. I remember being informed of my wedding taking place in two weeks and signing the agreement with Nikolas.
Here I am, standing in front of the mirror, staring back at my wedding dress. Today is the day I finally get tied into a loveless marriage. The day my dreams come to a halt for a while. Yes, I agreed to work under Nikolas to learn more about business. I am doing all they want now because as soon as the 1 year is over, I am pulling out and doing that without thinking twice.
"Ready?" Father asks, taking a peek through the door.
"Yeah." I answer back placing my arms against his. He sends me a smile and I give him a fake smile in return.
It is a beach side wedding with only few friends and family members in attendance. I walk through the designated path and notice Maya's over excitement as she bounces on her toes. Demetrio comes into view and I gasp.
"Demi!" I whisper-yell. He made it, at least it made my day.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, we are gathered here today to witness the holy matrimony between Nikolas Galanis and Amethyst Leon." The priest says.
"So, Repeat after me. I, say your name, vow to take .... as my lawfully wedded wife/husband today and forever. For better for worse, in sickness and in health. Till death do us part" We both repeat after him.
"I present to you the new Mr. and Mrs. Galanis. You may now kiss the bride." He says. Nikolas lifts my veil and smirks.
"I told you, Moro mou. You will be mine." He leans in to kiss me and I swiftly turn my face away from him giving my cheeks instead which results to a peck.
"No means No, Nick. Deal with it." I lean in and kiss him at the corner of his mouth just before his lips. God, I had completely forgotten that we have an audience. I smile to them and lace my arms in his.
"Congratulations, baby sis." Demi gives me a hug and ruffles my perfect hair. Only him does this, troublesome much.
I frown back in return, trying to fix ny hair and place back the pin that had fallen down as a result of his ruffling.
"Take care of her. Your marriage might not be based on love but you both could grow in it, you know." He points out to Nikolas who nods his head looking uninterested in the talk. I could guess why, it is as a result of the contract. Although, only both of us are aware of this arrangement.
"It's time for your first dance as a married couple." Couple, huh? I scoff in disdain. Indeed. Couple my ass.

"So, your room is at the end of the corridor and mine is just two doors away. You could knock if you need anything." Nick voices out behind me.
"Where are my things?" I ask as I look into an empty room, well except the well laid bed.
"Check the closets. If not, they will be here soon." He replies.
"What time am I supposed to report for work?" I ask him.
"8am. We leave together." He states with finality in his voice.
"I have my own car and I sure as hell can drive myself to work." I did not want any form of chivalry from him. I could take care of myself.
"On a second thought, you could take the week off. Your training starts next week." He says.
"Thank you." I state in my head, exhausted from the day's activities. My cheeks are hurting from the number of times I had to give a fake smile.
I step into the room and shut the door, sighing as I rest my back on it. Welcome to a new life.
Opening the closets, I see my boxes waiting to be unpacked. I gave strict instructions for them to be left untouched. Now, I have to go through the stress of unpacking and arranging.
I groan in annoyance as my hair gets stuck in the zip of my wedding gown.
"Urghh. So annoying." I say to no one in particular. I huff and carefully untangle my hair from the zip cringing at the slight pain I feel in my scalp.
I need a shower, my body feels sticky from all the perspiration from today's activities. Plus, the number of people I had to hug. My head also aches and there is nothing a warm bath does not solve.
I step into the bathroom and it is large and well equipped. Bigger and better than the one I had in my former room, back at my parent's place. Hmmm, impressive.
The incessant ringing of my phone made me hasten my bathing process which annoyed me as I look at the caller ID.
Maya ❤
I roll my eyes as I turn off the sound from my phone and ignore the call. I will call her back, though. I just want to teach her a little lesson. I mean, who calls a woman on her wedding night? Definitely Maya.
"Hey, sis in law." She shouts over the phone.
"Wait, are you drunk?" I ask her because she sounded too loud. Well, louder than her usual self.
"No, I am not. Just at the reception party that the bride and groom decided to leave early. Don't tell me you both are doing the dirty." She teases.
"Ewww. Get out of here. Naughty." She laughs in response to what I had just said.
"Enjoy your night, honey." She says, emphasizing the double meaning.
The next morning, I wake up very hungry. I brush my teeth and walk round the house to locate the kitchen.
"Good morning, Mrs. Galanis. I am Mrs. Brian, the housekeeper. I just made breakfast, care for some?" She asks.
"Sure. Thanks." She picks up a plate from the rack and dishes out some food in it then place it in front of me.
"Thank you." I start eating and a girl walks pass us to the front door. I choke on my food and Mrs. Brian immediately helps me with water. I could feel her gaze on me and I just shrug it off. Is that pity in her eyes? She touches me in reassurance.
Yeah, I know I consented to the rules and even did not want to seal our first night as a couple but this sight right here is annoying. He could not even wait for atleast 24 hours to go back to his womanizing ways.
Deep down, under the layers of concealed feelings I had for him, it hurt to see this.
