So I haven't updated in a really long time and this isn't an update either.

On June 12th, 2016, a horrific event occurred in Orlando.

At 2AM at 'Pulse', an LGBTQ+ club, a gunman had begun to shoot.

His (the gunman's) rampage left 49 dead and 53 injured. It has been repeated that this was the worst shooting in modern US History. And this is true.

He had a pledged alliance to ISIS after his shooting spree and praised the Boston Marathon bombers.

Some may call it an act of terrorism, some may call it a hate crime.

Call it whatever you'd like, honestly, but don't validate his actions.

This was completely unfair. Not only to the people who witnessed losses, who had been loss, or to people who had been lost to this awful occurrence but to anyone who now lives in fear.

Fear of the fact that who they are is now a threat to their life.

That's beyond devastating.

So while I may not be gay, or transgender, or a citizen of the United States, I am scared.

I am scared of what society has become. I know we have to take the ups and downs of life as they come because that's just the way it is but this isn't just a low point. This a pit of quicksand and we're just sinking further.

I thought we were making some form of progress but now I fear for my friends and family. I fear for our future.

Why is being queer frowned upon? Why is it wrong?

Why is it that society is more afraid of "two men holding hands than two men holding guns"? (shout out to @-SoLongAndGoodNight- for that beautiful quote of her creation)

Being gay isn't wrong. Being trans or non binary or gender fluid or demisexual or aromantic isn't wrong either. They're just as "right" as being straight.
