Venus:

I stood still, nervously letting our stylist fit my dress. He casually put pins into the dress, sometimes poking me causing me to jump slightly.

"Stay still love" he said as I fidgeted around

I was currently wearing an all black dress with shimmers. It had long sleeves and a v- neck. I was just about ready to cry as I noticed how uncomfortable this was. I glanced at Shawn who was sitting in a chair messing with his necklace, and occasionally staring at me. I refrained myself from staring back at him but when I did glance at him, I looked at him with the same wondrous eyes as I did with fire. Shawn was just like it. To distract myself I shut off all my senses and related everything with fire to Shawn, which made me think. Why did I feel this way? Shawns touch was warm compared to my cold skin. I could tell he had a flare in his eyes, his hair formed a small tuft as he ran his fingers through it. But the one thing I couldn't help but ignore was the stupid smell of a bird which was causing me to drool. Chickennnnnnn! Although the smell of bird wasn't chicken exactly, that's the only thing I could make of it.

"You know you guys are probably the first non warriors to be so unafraid" Our stylist said, going back to his desk for more pins

Shawn raised his head and I sensed him being thoughtful and tense. I sighed and thought of Aaliyah, how she wanted her older brother back and if he didn't exactly have confidence how was I supposed to bring him back? I sighed and looked down at the dress I was wearing.

"Well actually.. I'm terrified" I said looking up at the stylist

Shawn looked at me strangely, as if examining me. The stylist raised his eyebrows and took several pins out of his mouth and put them into the dress.

"Is that so?" he asked

"Oh names Jerry by the way" he said in almost like a purr

"Well Jerry, Im terrified.. The thought that I could die out there scares me.. But I guess I have to act strong to be strong.." I said biting my lip, but hoping that I wouldn't cause it to bleed

"Im terrified as well" Shawn said leaning back in his chair

"Well I think your both brave to act the way you do, and I also think that this dress is finished!" he said standing back and admiring his work

"Your turn!" he said turning to Shawn who groaned.

This was going to be a long night...

I woke up in my room. We were sent to the District Twelve flat to het some rest. It was luxurious like everything else that we have seen. It was all grey, black, and white. I took the biggest room and Shawn just collapsed on the couch, he was way to tired to get to his room. I sighed and stretched in my bed. They had been treating us so nice and luxurious, I guess they want us to enjoy our last days in the lap of luxury, which is probably more than i'll ever see. Suddenly my door busted open and Jacob stormed in, causing me to jump.

"Before I say anything, do you shed?" he said, suddenly freezing in the middle of the room

"What type of question is that?! Do I shed?!" I yelled/hissed

"No of course I shed, let me see" I said sarcastically

"Look! Invisible fur!" I said throwing the sheets into the air

"Dang your grumpy when you wake up" he said crossing his arms

I rolled my eyes and got out of bed. I was wearing a black tank top and black shorts. I stretched and bent my back backwards so I could see Jacob staring at me upside down. He looked away as I smirked. As a female alpha, I kinda feel accomplished to have a guy stare at me. I get attention and im happy. I yawned and walked towards him. I smelled another dog and I paused right in front of him.

"You have a dog?" I asked raising an eyebrow

"Yeah I like dogs, jealous?" he asked, his husky voice going smooth unlike before

"Should I be?" I whispered in his ear

I walked by him and out of the room, probably leaving him in some state of weirdness cause he didn't immediately follow. I walked out and saw Shawn exiting the bathroom. He froze when he saw me, and for some odd reason I didn't feel accomplished, his gaze made me nervous. I broke off our stare and walked towards the kitchen where one of those carts from the ship was put. I pressed the button on the side and once the food came out, I squealed!

"EEKK!" I screamed

Shawn and Jacob suddenly ran in and I turned around to them, holding four muffins, two in each hand.

"Muffins!" I squealed biting into one

"That's what you were screaming about?" Jacob asking growing serious

"Who wouldn't scream about muffins? There muffins and muffin's are amazing" Shawn said walking up to the cart and taking several muffins.

Jacob just rolled his eyes and stared as we devoured our muffins.

"You know I don't understand how you eat so much and keep a slim shape" Jacob said his eyes looking up and down me

"And I don't understand why you keep checking me out" I said crossing my arms

Jacob began to blush and I was about to laugh when Shawn suddenly pushed me forward.

"We should probably get ready to leave" he said leading me out of the kitchen

He pushed me at my room and he walked to his room, I felt a slight mix of Anger, Jealousy, and lust with a touch of fear. I furrowed my brows and entered my room. Jerry said we would change into our outfits at the chariots stadium. I changed into just plain jeans and a gray shirt with plain white shoes. I slipped on a black hoodie and I brushed my teeth and hair. I let my bangs fall into place and I looked at myself in the mirror. Perfect. I grabbed my backpack and walked out and adjusted my jacket, walking into the living room. I looked up and saw Shawn and Jacob waiting already, looking pretty upset. They looked up and I immediately felt butterflies in my stomach at there looks. I coughed and snapped them out of there trance.

"Ready to go?" I asked walking to the door without an answer

The boys followed as I walked down to the elevator.

"Now Jacob takes the lead as I don't know where the heck im going" I said stepping into the elevator

"You guys are pretty chill not to be still whimpering about meeting death so early" Jacob said pressing the button to go down

My insides suddenly dropped as I grew terrified at what I was to face in two days. Today would be getting attention from sponsors so I don't die to early, and tomorrow some more training so I don't die immediately, then the last die I'm shipped off to a planet in an unknown location to die. I thought on how hard I had been trying to forget what I had back home so I could stay strong. I felt a tear stream down my face, I was really that upset huh..

"Hey you okay?" I heard Shawn ask, snapping me out of my thoughts,

I quickly wiped away my tears as the elevator door open and Jacob turned around to see me cry for the first time.

"I'm fine" I said walking by them and out the elevator

Both boys caught up and stayed silent as Jacob opened the door to the limo for us. Shawn and I were both stuck in between peace keepers again and I was currently not in the mood to have to sit in Shawn's lap after I just cried.

"You know what? I think there's enough space for yall to sit over there across from us and squish Jacob cause I'm getting really pissed having to sit in-between both of you guys." I snapped at the keepers, making them jump

They looked down on me, I could hear them breathing heavily

"Im sorry did I stutter? Move cause I'm not!" I said, feeling my pupils dilate with rage

Jacob coughed and motioned the keepers to comply. The got up and continued to stare at me. Jacob motioned me to cut it out.

"What?" i mouthed

"Your eyes" he mouthed back

I suddenly caught myself, making sure my eyes went back to normal.

"Hey am I missing something hear?" Shawn asked looking down on me

"No your fine" I reassured him, looking out the window

I felt the car come to a stop. A peace keeper leaned forward to open the door just as I did.

"I can open the door myself thank you" I snapped pushing the door open and stepping out.

A huge crowd of reporters had formed already, flashing lights causing me to yelp loudly.

"Did you seriously just yelp?" Shawn asked stepping beside me

"Well I hang around animals to much" I said trying to cover up my puppy like yelp

Jacob handed us all some shades and we walked by the persistent crowd of people, asking us questions. We walked into the building and we were lead through the stadium, passing by windows that showed the inside of the huge coliseum. Horses being led to chariots. There were fire torches aligned on the sides of the track. I froze as people walked by me, I was still looking out the window. I approached it and rested my hands on the sill. Fire... I looked down at my hand to see the whiteish red mark on my hand from the burn I suffered several days back. I was still attracted to fire, even after hurting my self with it. I shook my head at how foolish I was. I already disobeyed my dad twice. I showed my powers to someone, and I didn't listen to him when he said fire would hurt me. I'm sixteen for gods sake! I sighed and suddenly jumped when I felt someone's hand on my shoulder.

"Hey you alright? You've seemed off since the elevator" Shawn said, not taking his hand off my shoulder

"I'm fine" I said looking away from the window

Just as I was about to walk away he grabbed my hand and jerked me back.

"Venus, your not fine, stop saying that" He said, his soft brown eyes staring into mine

"Why should you care?" I asked, yanking my hand away from him even though I had that warm fiery touch

"Give me a good reason why I shouldn't" Shawn said looking down on me

"Well I barely know you and most of the time people just don't care for an outsider" I said, shifting my position uncomfortably and stuffing my hands into my pocket

"Well I'm not most people, and were going to be in an arena trying to survive together, I help you, you help me." he said crossing his own arms

"Fine.. I'm just worried... I continue to act so confident and im not. Ive been such a disappointment to my family and have held them back from so much and its sad to think that they gave up everything for me and look where I am now" I said, giving into his eyes and concern

"Why do you think your a disappointment?" Shawn asked leaning against the wall

"I just don't listen... Last time I didn't I got this" I said holding out my hand to show the burn

"Holy- what happened?" he asked pushing off the wall and grabbing my hand.

"I touched fire.." I mumbled, as I grew nervous to his touch

"You what? Why would you do that?" he asked looking up at me with a furrow of his brows

"I-.. Well I'm attracted to fire, and I don't know why... Probably have a pain kink or something" I said shrugging and pulling my hand away

Shawn looked off and I could sense him growing nervous. Just as I was about to question him, Jerry scrambled down the hallway

"There you guys are! Come come you all must change!" he said grabbing my arm and pulling me away, causing Shawn to follow.

We quickly changed and were led to our chariots. There were two black horses hooked up to a black chariot with silver spikes in the back, and different engravings in the front.

"Woah" I said as I got into the chariot

"Okay both of you remember! Pull the tab once I give a signal!" Jerry said straining out my dress and making sure the purple flower on Shawn's tux was up straight.

He scurried off and I noticed the flower begin to bend. I reached for it and Shawn stared at me strangely as I touched it and pushed it back up, at the same time causing it to grow back its color. He stared at it as I pulled my hand and grabbed the reigns, seeing the chariot in front of us move.

"Ready?" I asked

"Uh y- yeah im ready" he said taking the flower and staring at it

I bit my lip hoping he hadn't really noticed it grow back.

"And now from District Twelve! Venus DeAngelo and Shawn Mendes!" we heard the announcer yell out

We both held the reigns as the horses moved forward. The crowd cheered as they saw us come in on our chariot.

"District Twelve is the most mysterious district of all! I assume the spikes must signify the danger that follows along this mystery district, the carvings probably to show its history" The announcer described as we passed by the large crowds of people.

I caught Jeremy looking at us from the exit, he began to wave his hands as we slowly passed the middle point.

"Now" I whispered to a still waving Shawn

He nodded and I grabbed hold of the tab and yanked it, wondering what it would do. I felt the front of my dress shorten and the end grow longer. The shimmers disappeared to show... Fur? My long sleeves turned from just solid material to see through silk and designs. I felt something on my head and looked at the T.V. Screen. I was dressed in the likeness of a wolf, whereing the designs that Jeremy had shown us when we first met him. Shawn was dressed in the likeness of an eagle. Jeremy said he had stalked us alll day, which scared us. He said he observed our characteristics and he put the into a design. I realized the chariot had changed also. Vines and plants covered the cart from the front. The whole crowd roared as everybody cheered on our sudden change in clothes.

"Would you look at that! The represent the animals, barely found anywhere else! The nature left on the planet!" we heard the announcer shout

I waved at the crowd and so did Shawn. When we had gotten to the exit I made the chariot go faster so we could escape the view of the people. Once we made it stop I hoped off and almost tripped but Jacob caught me.

"Ironic" he said as his eyes settled on me

I pulled away and Jeremy ran up to us and hugged us.

"You guys rocked!" he said squealing

"Thanks" Shawn mumbled

I felt a wave of jealousy suddenly radiated from Shawn. I suddenly realized Jacob had been staring at me, a vibe of lust coming from him.

"Ahem, uh so Jeremy. You stalked us and thought our characteristics matched animals?" I asked

"Yes!" he said clapping his hands excitedly

"But I know much more than that." he whispered into my ear which scared me

I swallowed hard as we were led away. What did he mean by that? Did he know what I was? If so, was he planning to tell? I shuffled down the hallway following them worriedly as Shawn just spoke with Jeremy. I. Was. Terrified.
