Chapter 15

*I'm winging this cuz she put MCD on hold

After sailing for a great deal of time I was fed up with being on a boat, and I was also done with the cloaks. Soon we arrived at the Capitol and we all put on our cloaks. I walked over to Liochant, and he stood tall and proud. "Lio you and the girls are going to stay on the ship, alright?"

"Yes (Y/N)!" He exclaimed. I smiled, pulling the hood over my head, and keeping my sword fastened at my waist. Katelyn, Garroth, Aphmau, and I set out to find Travis. We were slowly navigating the city, and everything was going well. I held my breath as we started to walk down the street where we were to be discovered.

"Aphmau keep your head low." I whispered. She replied with a slight grunt. We kept walking until someone bumped into me, knocking my hood off.

"Lady Lezina!" He gasped. I gritted my teeth, and grabbed Aphmau's wrist and started running, causing her hood to fall off as well.

"Lady Irene!" I heard another exclaim.

"Aphmau, (Y/N)! Run, get to Travis!" Garroth yelled, waving us away as he threw off his cloak while Katelyn joined him to hold off everyone. We ran to the back of the capital and saw the jail. We ran inside, and slammed the door shut behind us. I looked around, panting heavily.

"Are you okay?" Aphmau asked. I nodded and took a deep breath.

"It's harder running when you're pregnant than I thought it would be." I laughed airily.

"Yes, you'll learn its harder to fight as well." She laughed. I nodded and noticed a small red glint out of the corner of my eye. I approached it, and noticed a thick brown clothe encased around a sword. I picked it up, slowly unwrapping the cloth and it revealed Travis' sword. "He must be here then!"

"Why do we need Travis now of all times?" I asked, cleaning off the sword.

"We need to find the descendants of the Divine Warriors. Travis is a descendent of Enki." Aphmau replied, looking at the exterior of the building. "Looks like Fallen has been here."

"Does, doesn't it?" I smiled. "Well, let's go find Travis." We walked down the stairs which lead to a guards post sort of thing.

"I'll distract them, and you go find Travis." Aphmau whispered. I nodded as she walked towards the guards, and started talking to them. I slid along the wall quietly and slipped into the corridor where the prisoners are kept. I walked past all the cells looking at nasty, angry faces. They all recognized me, and growled as I walked past.

Soon I approached the last cell and saw Travis sitting in the corner, clutching his book to his chest. He looked like he'd been in his demon form for a long time now. "Travis!" I whispered.

He looked up in shock and growled at me, "what are you doing here!?"

"We need your help."

"No... no one needs my help. It's better if I stay here where I can't hurt anyone." I slid his sword into the cell.

"You're not your father. You need to understand that you're stronger than him, you can surpass what he'd failed to contain. You're one of the smartest men I know, and you need to realize you're doing more harm sitting in here, sulking. When you should be out here helping us stop Shad!" I hissed. His eyes widened at the mention of Shad the Destroyer. "It's time to return to the light my friend. Let the rays of the sun bathe you in eternal glory, and beams of good to send the demon into hiding."

"I can't." He replied simply, kicking his sword back under the bars. I picked it up and stood up.

"I see. You wish not to help those who are to inherit the earth, but to let them burn in the raging fire of a tyrant." I furrowed my eyebrows together. "If you stay here you have lost my trust. So, I'll give you two minutes to decide because we need to figure out our next strategy."

He looked down, sorrowfully. I slid the sword back into the cell. "Travis Valkrum... your last name was your mothers, and you choose to dishonor her by sitting here, letting the curse your father set upon you take control."

"Don't you use her name against me. Can't you see? This is what I am!" He exclaimed. I sighed.

"You are not your father, not your mother, not anyone else. What you are isn't determined by the actions of those before us, but by our own actions. You could stay here and become the demon your forced destiny wants you to be or... you can make your own destiny." I replied. I looked down, but when I looked back up I saw Travis on his feet, the grey skin, and horns had disappeared, and he was hooking his sword to his belt and held the book in his right hand.

"I'll come." He nodded. I smiled softly and opened the cell door and let him walk out before closing the door. As we walked back down the corridor the men and women snarled at us like wild beasts, but I ignored them.

When we emerged back to the guard watch the guards were alarmed, but Aphmau told them to stand down. "This is an essential quest. If after Travis Valkrum will return if he wishes." She explained.

"Our apologies." One of the guard spoke up. I nodded to them, and handed Travis a black cloak that he clipped over his shoulder and we all pulled our hoods up.

Garroth meet us at the dock.

I looked at Travis who had his signature smirk under the hood. "Who's the father?"

I was slightly startled, but took a deep breath. "Garroth."

"Figures." He chuckled. I rolled my eyes, laughing.

"It's good to have you back, Travis." I smiled softly.

"Thank you, (Y/N)." He smiled back.
