Chapter 21
Two Months Later...
I knew I was coming close to giving birth. We had gotten off track on sailing which totally wasted my weeks worth of power. My relic hasn't been able to muster enough power to even get a few extra blasts without wearing me out too much. Which is why I still had to remain focused for now.
We were only a couple miles away from the shore and I could see Shad. He was standing in the sand, hands clasped behind his back, a wicked grin spread across his face. The sight of him made me sick. "Anchor the ship!" Garroth yelled.
I turned to him and grabbed his arm. "What are you doing, I need to be closer."
"If we get any closer then you'll be able to hear him. Just trust me." He nodded. A sigh escaped my lips. Garroth wrapped his hands around mine. "Can you come below deck with me for a minute?"
"Sure." I nodded as he lead me below the deck. He pulled me into a hug, and I quickly hugged him back. He started walking backwards, and his body was quickly replaced with the boat's mast, and two metal bracelets were clamped around my wrists... handcuffs. I pulled on them, but my arms wouldn't leave the mast. "Garroth?"
"I'm sorry. I can't have you getting hurt." He kissed my forehead, and began to walk away.
"GARROTH!" I screamed. "GARROTH! COME BACK HERE!"
Garroth's P.O.V.
I walked up to the deck and the others all frowned towards me. We could all hear her screaming and I felt so guilty, but I had to protect her. "We need to get out there and finish him."
"GARROTH! YOU CAN'T DO THIS!" Her screams became louder and more angry, yet I ignored them.
"Garroth, you can't keep her like that." Katelyn stated, crossing her arms.
"It's just until the fight is over." I replied sharply. "Now let's go."
"Alright." We all jumped into the shallower waters, and waded through them towards Shad, who was on shore, staring past us at the boat. Once we were on shore he looked towards me.
"Esmund... why would you do that to Lezina? She only wished to join the fight."
"I do what I must to protect her." I yelled, charging at him with my blade, he countered my strike with another blade, and looked simply bored.
"You, with your temper tantrums... they always got the best of you." Travis and Katelyn helped me circle him while Liochant stayed in front of Aphmau. Laurance seemed to disappear.
Katelyn and Travis both struck at him from behind, but he simply knocked them out of the air.
"GARROTH! LET ME OUT!"
"Esmund... I think it's time we release the beast." Shad chuckled, taking a step towards the boat. Aphmau ran in front of him, holding her hand out, her Irene form shone over her usual self, and she looked Shad in the eye.
"Leave Lezina out of this."
"Oh, but it's not only the fact that she wants to come fight... she's about to give birth."
"What!?" I screamed, looking towards the boat. A pain flooded through my stomach, and throughout my systems, warm liquid spilled from me as I dropped to me knees.
Aphmau dropped down next to me,mand Shad stepped over us, grinning as he raised his sword to finish us both. As he swung down I closed my eyes, but instead of hearing a slice I heard a chink.
I peeled my eyes open to see Liochant holding Shad's sword in place with his arm. It was sword against armor, and swords are usually sharper. From behind Katelyn struck the back of his knees while Travis swung at his head, Shad quickly flung his arm in the way of Travis' strike.
Both of them tumbled backwards and Liochant kicked him in the gut, sending him flying backwards. Katelyn grabbed Shad from behind and held her fist's to his neck as he struggled. Aphmau stood up to help, but Liochant turned around and motioned her stay back. "Keep him alive for (Y/N)!"
Shad broke Katelyn's grip no knocked Liochant off his feet, both of them started struggling angrily, and more wild, but I could tell we were losing. Travis clasped his hands together, a few feet away from Shad, and began to whisper a few words, suddenly a flash of bright white light consumed him and he was in his demon form, flashing a toothy grin he charged at Shad, with such speeds that it would be impossible to dodge his attacks, even for a Divine Warrior.
"Hey, look at me Garroth." Aphmau instructed. Her hands were covering my wounds, blood covering her skin. "I need you to talk to me so I know you're okay."
"Aphmau... this is all my fault. I should have let her come..."
"It's not your fault Garroth. You're trying to protect her and she's trying to prove her worth to herself."
"What do you mean?" I tried to turn my focus back to the fight, but Aphmau forced me to look at her.
"I mean she's been doubting her skills ever since you found out she's pregnant. She can still fight for herself, but you've been treating her like a child." She ripped off part of her shirt and began to tie it around my wound, but the injury was worse than a healing of a simple bandage. "You made her doubt herself, made her feel like she wasn't of any value. That's what this fight meant to her. She was going to prove her own worth to herself today, and you took that away!" She tied the cloth so tight I almost choked from the sudden pressure.
"That's not what I was trying to do-"
"That's what you did though," Aphmau looked me deep in the eyes, helping me to my feet we turned to see Travis struggling to get up, blood at the corner of his lips, Katelyn was rushing to his aid while Shad held Liochant by the throat.
"Where the heck is Laurance? He was here just a few minutes ago!" I snapped. Suddenly from behind Shad I saw a shadow form and Laurance escaped from it, throwing a blade straight towards Shad's head, but Shad caught it between his fingers and threw it right towards us. Aphmau pulled me back to the forum just in time and I huffed out a thank you. We were losing, we need a miracle.
Your P.O.V.
"GARROTH!" I screamed, pulling on my handcuffs until they snapped in half. Quickly I prepared my new weapon and ran out onto the deck, bringing myself up to the edge. I pointed the tip of the weapon towards Shad, searching to make sure no one was going to attack him, but that's when I saw Garroth, lying on the ground, bleeding out.
"LEZINA! Come join us!" My legs started to move towards the water.
"Oh no... it's not working," I grunted, fighting the pull as much as possible. Yet I couldn't and I found myself face to face with Shad, my arms shaking as I tried to point my weapon at him.
"I want you to kill everyone of your friends."
"Easy," a sneer came across my face. I turned to Travis, pointing the tip of the weapon at him.
"But first tell them about the weapon."
"Certainly. This weapon is called a pistol. They're not supposed to come around for a couple more centuries, but I defy that rule quite a bit too much. You see what the wearing does is it kills effectively, and more quickly than arrows would. It's also known as a gun. But I'll let you decide when you're dead." I finally regained control over my actions. "Now... for a volunteer to test the weapon. Aphmau... Liochant... Katelyn... Travis... Garroth... Laurance... Shad?"
I pointed the barrel of the gun at Shad, smirking. He looked taken aback. "Also did I mention nothing can stop one of these bullets? Not even a Divine Warrior?" I asked as I pulled the trigger, and the bullet penetrated his skull. There were several sighs of relief, and I quickly turned and knelt down next to Garroth.
"Are you okay?" I asked him. He quietly nodded his head. I could also tell he was lying. Aphmau knelt down next to me, and I looked at her with pleading eyes, but she bit her lip, looking away. "Please, try."
"I don't know if it will..."
"Just try it! Or he might die!" I felt tears welling in my eyes as she placed her palms against his wound, she squeezed her eyes shut and bit her lip. Everyone was quiet and then I heard a gasp come from Garroth. I quickly pulled his head into my lap and almost immediately a bright light flared from Aphmau's hands, and they lit up the wound and it disappeared.
I cried in relief, hugging Garroth tightly. "I thought you were going to die!"
"You could have told me." He chuckled.
"I would have, but you chained me to the mast." I laughed, kissing his cheek.
"Yeah... sorry about that."
"It's..." I stopped and took a deep breath as a weird feeling ran over me and my lower regions became wet, my water broke.
"It's what?" Garroth asked.
"It's... ah!" I clutched my stomach, leaning back a bit.
"What's happening?" Garroth asked, nervously.
"She's in labor!" Aphmau cried out.
