Chapter 8
We charged right into the streets, and started to cut down every guard in our way. Garroth was in his Relic form, and Fallen and Vylad were in their Shadow Knight forms.
I was still learning so I just tried my best to not get stabbed again. I managed to pick up a bow from one of the fallen guards, and ran across rooftops, shooting down whomever I saw. I noticed Garroth signal me down, so I jumped down from the room, and tossed the bow aside. We were surrounded by several bodies, and I wasn't even feeling bad. "How are you feeling?" He asked through a panting breath.
"No regrets," I huffed and drew my sword. Vylad ran up to us and tossed his head sideways to move his hair.
"Have either of you seen Fallen?" I was about to answer when I saw an explosion on the other side of the city followed by a screaming voice.
"GET BACK HERE AND FIGHT ME YOU BASTARDS!" I looked over at Vylad and he rolled his eyes.
"That her?"
"Yes."
"Anyway where's your mother Garroth?" I asked.
"You're not even going to get a chance to see her again by the time you're done with me... might as well give up now!" A sick voice laughed. I spun around to find a girl with pink hair and blue eyes, holding a silver sword the seemed to reap thousands of souls.
"Ivy!" Garroth growled.
"So, this is the famous Ivy?" I asked.
"You must have heard so much about me!" She laughed. I sighed.
"Garroth, Vylad, go find your mother. I'll handle this sad sack of bone and pink hair." I growled.
"(Y/N), you don't-"
"Garroth, don't make me say it again!" I snapped. He nodded then him and Vylad shrunk back, and started to run.
"Well how noble-"
"Cut the rambling, and tell me what it is you want from me."
"It's not what I want from you it's what's inside you."
"My relic? Like I'd ever give that up!"
"Guess this will have to go the hard way then," she smirked. She charged me, and I stood still, when she was within range I caught her swords blade, and ripped it from her hand, cutting open my palm in the process, and tossed it across the square. "I see how this is, you'd prefer hand to hand?"
I swung the hilt of my blade across her head, and she stumbled back, smiling. "Is that all you got?" She charged me again, and I caught her in the stomach, and slammed her into the ground, and held my sword to he throat. "I could just kill you, but then this would be any fun."
My vision suddenly got hazy, and I stumbled back. "Not now," I grumbled. I heard running footsteps as I hit the stone paved ground.
There was a large city, and lots of people. A boat was just coming into the docks, and two little girls ran off. I didn't recognize them immediately, but after a moment I heard someone say Lilith and Alina.
Another image appeared. It was Ivy standing over my weak body, looking ready to kill, and a wyvern? A wyvern swept down, and... bit her head off.
I felt my whole body jolt up as the image suddenly disappeared. I felt a searing pain down the middle of my torso. I looked down or see my stomach cut open, almost expertly. I covered the wound with my hands.
I couldn't feel it healing. I managed to move my eyes to see Ivy standing over me with her silver sword. "Oh... you're probably wondering why you haven't started to heal yet. Every move I make with this sword can't heal with magyks. Now if you don't mind I'll take that relic now."
Pain flared through my stomach to my arms. I watched as Ivy poised the sword over my chest. I felt my breath hitch as she began to press the tip into my skin. I gasped in pain and moved my head to look at the sky. "(Y/N)!" I heard my name being screamed, but I couldn't move my head to see them. My eyes were fixed on the wyvern as he swooped down, and took off Ivy's head.
Her body went limp, and she fell on me, her body weight causing the sword to go through my chest. I screamed out in pain as the sword started to extract my life source.
I could feel myself dying. I watched with blurry eyes as Garroth threw Ivy's body off me, and pulled the sword out, quick and clean, and knelt down next to me. My hands were still hanging onto my stomach. Garroth took his hands and covered over the wound on my chest.
I smiled at him weakly as he frantically tried to stop the bleeding. "Garroth," I choked.
"Don't talk."
"Did you get your mother?" I asked, starting to shake a little.
"Yes, but we need to get you out of here-"
"Don't... take me with you." I felt tears form in my eyes.
"Stop talking, we're going to get help." He slipped his arms under my legs and back, and picked me up. I grunted in pain. I grabbed his arm with one bloody hand as he started to run. "Vylad!" He yelled. Vylad, Fallen, and a lady who I assumed was Lady Ro'Meave jumped out of an alley.
"What happened? Who is that?" Lady Ro'Meave asked. I grunted again as Garroth readjusted me.
"Mom, I can explain later. Do you know someone who can help her?" Garroth asked, pleadingly.
"Yes! Follow me," she ushered us into the tunnels again, and we made out way out, and she lead us into the forest. As we drew farther into the forest I started to shake more, and my eyelids were getting heavy.
"C'mon (Y/N)! We're almost there, stay with me."
"G-Garroth... if I don't make it-"
"You're going to make it. I can't lose you again." He looked down at me with a sad smile, and choked back some more tears.
We stopped running and slowed to a walk which made it easier for me to breath I heard yelling, "Garroth! Vylad! Fallen! You're okay!"
"Aphmau we need medical attention right now!" Garroth yelled starting to run again. I winced in pain, and gritted my teeth.
"Oh my Irene, (Y/N)!" Aphmau yelled. I clutched my stomach harder, making the blood come out faster.
"(Y/N), stop," Garroth said soothingly as he laid me down in the grass. He grabbed my hand that had been on his shoulder, ignoring the blood. I tried to take in some air, but all I felt was a burning feeling. I let out a small whimper and closed my eyes. "Aphmau, can you do anything?"
"I... I can try. Garroth step back."
"But-"
"Trust me."
Garroth's P.O.V.
"Trust me, please, Garroth." I looked down at (Y/N).
"Okay." I stepped back, letting go of her hand. Aphmau reached for (Y/N)'s stomach, and just as she was about to touch Hyria burst from the front door.
"Aphmau, stop!" She yelled. Aphmau didn't seem to hear, and as she was about to try and heal (Y/N), (Y/N) grabbed her wrist, and Aphmau's eyes glossed over, and her head turned toward the sky. Then (Y/N) screamed out in pain, and Aphmau's face turned white and (Y/N) let go.
I ran over to them and saw them both unconscious, but (Y/N) wasn't breathing. "Hyria!" I yelled looking up. She jogged over to us and examined (Y/N)
"What was she wounded with?"
"I don't know, Ivy's sword-"
"Janis' sword." Katelyn spoke up walking towards us.
"Oh, Irene. Bring them inside, quickly." She ushered us inside. I picked up (Y/N) and Katelyn picked up Aphmau. "Set (Y/N) on the floor, quickly now, and bring Aphmau to me. Garroth I need you to cover her wounds right now."
"Okay." I nodded, and removed her blood soaked shirt, and took of mine and bunched it up, and placed it over her stomach, and put my hand over her chest. I frowned at her sweaty face, her eyebrows were furrowed together, and she looked exactly like she did years ago in the test when she had those nightmares.
I felt a hand on my shoulder. "Garroth, sweetie. Do you want to explain to me who this is?" Mother asked as she knelt down, and cradled (Y/N)'s head gently.
"That test... she's the girl."
"But I thought you said she was dead." She frowned.
"...She was... at least I think. Something happened. Her relic healed her or something..." then I remembered the ritual, and looked down at her smiling.
"Who's relic?" My mother asked, moving hair from (Y/N)'s face. I felt her start to shake, and she started to breath again, and I sighed in relief and looked up to my mother.
"Lady Lezinas's." Her face turned white, and I looked at her confused. I turned to Hyria and saw Aphmau waking up. Hyria stood up and quickly ran to a different room, and came back with a needle and thread she knelt down next to us, and moved my hand and started to stitch up her chest.
"Tell me what did you say her relic was again?" Hyria asked
"Lady Lezina." I said and she looked at me with sad eyes.
"Oh, dear." She mumbled and continued stitching.
"What's wrong with Lady Lezina?" I asked.
"She was the most violent of the divine." Hyria began. "She was always ready to spill blood."
"That doesn't sound like (Y/N) at all." I stated.
"Well it should, she's Lady Lezina's only child."
"She is?" I asked wide eyed.
"Yes. Not only was Lady Lezina the most violent she was the most powerful in a knowledgeable way. Seeing the future, knowing all the enemies weaknesses. She was like a living war machine. Does that sound like your friend?" Hyria asked as she finished the front of her chest.
"...Yes." I breathed.
"Turn her over please." Hyria murmured. I managed to turn her over as Hyria got to work stitching (Y/N)'s back.
"What else do you know about Lady Lezina?" I asked.
"She's the only one who could outsmart Shad. Sometimes she was actually worse than Shad! She was always picking whatever side she felt like. She was the in between. Or at least Irene said, but Lezina told everyone that Shad had found a way to manipulate her." Hyria shook her head. I looked up at my mother who was looking down at (Y/N).
"Do you know if she ever knew her mother?"
"For a short time. Maybe a year. It was the year that (Y/N) and Lezina supposedly hunted for (Y/N)'s father. While they were hunting his down Lezina was shot, and she gave (Y/N) her relic before she died."
"How do you know all this?" My mother asked.
"I was friends with the divines. Lezina's soul showed me what needed to be known."
"Can (Y/N) do bad... if she wanted to?" I asked looking up, hopefully she would say no.
"She could do bad without even knowing. She wouldn't realize it until she was doing the bad, and even then she wouldn't be able to stop without an anchor."
"Like what she did to Aphmau?" Katelyn asked.
"Irene." Hyria countered. Aphmau looked over at Hyria.
"What?" She asked wide eyed.
"Turn her again." Hyria instructed. "Oh, Aphmau, don't act like you don't know. You are Irene."
"I-I am!?" She yelled. Hyria started to stitch up (Y/N)'s stomach.
"I can explain when I'm finished." She replied.
When she was halfway done with her stomach (Y/N) grabbed Hyria's arm with her eyes wide open and glowing a heavy blue, almost black. I grabbed her hand, and pulled it away from Hyria's arm, she grabbed my wrist as Hyria tried to focus on finishing.
"(Y/N), it's me Garroth." Her eyes twitched, and she closed her eyes and let out a shaky breath. When she opened her eyes they were back to their normal (E/C). I smiled weakly as she winced with every stab of the needle. "Was Lezina always gutsy?"
"Always." Hyria laughed. (Y/N) shook her head, sighing.
"I'm not gutsy, I just like to stand up for people." She said wincing with every word. Hyria finished and tied the stitch.
"Garroth, if you'd like you can bring her outside and lay her in the grass, the grass is enchanted to heal anything. It might not work as well, but you can always try."
"I will." I nodded. I picked up (Y/N) gently as she winced then carried her outside. I laid her down in the grass, and I sat down next to her, and held her hand. "You feeling okay?" I asked.
"Shirtless, but okay," she laughed trying not to show her pain.
"Sorry about that. I'd give you mine, but it's inside, covered in blood."
"Its fine," she smiled. I gently kissed her knuckle, and she closed her eyes, and I laid down next to her.
"Are you healing?"
"I can't tell," she mumbled. She moved, and rested her head on my chest.
"I love you," I whispered, kissing the top of her head. She sighed.
"I love you too."
