Chapter 5

*My POV*

We turned to see Beverly who took her dress off for her to be in her bra and underwear. I smiled happily as I took mine off as well. "Sissies." Beverly said before we both took off running and jumped off the ledge.

"What the fuck!" Richie said as we both hit the water and resurfaced. "Oh, holy shit! We just got showed up by a girl! Two for that matter!" Richie said as we looked up at them. "Come on!" I called out smiling. Bill jumped first.

Soon, we all were screwing around in the water, Bill and I kept splashing each other and soon enough we were sitting on some rocks. Richie, Eddie, Stan, Ben, and Beverly were still screwing around as Bill and I sat on some rocks.

I glanced over at Bill only to see him look away from me quickly, I smiled a little before pushing my hair out of my face. "Ah, fuck, what was that?" Richie asked. "Something just touched my foot right here." Someone said, and we all ducked under the water to see. They all began talking at once as Bill came up. "It's a turtle." Bill said.

Soon enough, me and Beverly were sunbathing as we laid on the rocks. Upbeat rap music was playing from the cassette player, and since me and Beverly had our sunglasses on, we didn't have to open our eyes to know the boys were staring at us.

We slowly turned our heads toward them, and they all pretended like they weren't staring. Richie began digging through Ben's bag. "News flash, Ben. School's out for summa!" Richie said. "Oh, that? That's not school stuff." Ben said.

Richie pulled out a postcard. "Who sent you this?" Richie asked flipping it over trying to read it. "No one. Give it..." Ben said taking the postcard from him and putting it back in his bag when Richie pulled out a folder.

"What's with the history project?" Richie asked. "Oh... When I first moved here, I didn't have anyone to hang out with, so I just started spending time in the library." Ben explained as Richie passed the folder to Bill who opened it.

"You went to the library? On purpose?" Richie asked. "Oh, I wanna see." I said getting up and sitting by Bill as I began looking at it with him. "What's the Black Spot?" Stan asked. "The Black Spot was a nightclub that was burned down years ago by that racist cult." Eddie said.

"The what?" Stan asked. "Don't you watch Geraldo?" Eddie asked. "Bev, your hair is really beautiful." Ben told her causing her to smile. "Oh. Right. Thanks." She said smiling. "Here, pass it." Richie said as Bill gave the folder back to him.

"Why is it all murders and missing kids?" He asked. "Derry's not like any town I've ever been in before. They did a study once, and it turns out people die or disappear six times the national average." Ben said.

"You read that?" I asked. "And that's just grown-ups. Kids are worse. Way, way worse. I've got more stuff if you wanna see it." Ben said and we all began looking at each other like 'HELL YEAH', while Eddie shook his head like 'HELL NO'.

Soon enough, we walked into Ben's bedroom only to find it covered in all the history of Derry. Richie and Eddie were talking about something but we kept looking at the history. "Whoa, whoa, whoa." Eddie said.

"Wow." Richie said. "Cool, huh?" Ben asked. "No. No, nothing cool. There's nothing cool." Richie said before I jabbed him in the side with my elbow. Bill was looking at small cards as I read the history on the wall.

"This is cool, right here. Wait, no. No, it's not cool." Richie said. "What's that?" Stan asked pointing to a specific spot. "Oh, that? That's the charter of Derry Township." Ben said. "Nerd Alert." Richie said.

"No, actually, it's really interesting. Derry started as a beaver trapping camp." Ben said. "Still is, am I right, boys?" Richie asked holding his hand up for a high-five, causing Eddie and Stan to look at him unamused.

"Ninety-one people signed the charter that made Derry. But later that winter, they all disappeared without a trace." I said remembering this part of the history. "The entire camp?" Eddie asked.

"There were rumors of Indians, but no sign of an attack. Everybody just thought it was plague or something. But it's like one day everybody just woke up and left." Ben explained as I looked closely at a picture, only to see what seems like a clown.

"The only clue was a trail of blood clothes leading to the well house." I said reading the wall. "Jesus. We can get Derry on Unsolved Mysteries." Richie said Beverly moved Ben's door to show a New Kids on the Block poster and Ben looked at her and shook his head.

Beverly just smiled and closed the door again. I kept reading the history. "I don't know. Maybe he's just trying to make some friends, Stanley." Richie said. "Where was the well house?" Bill asked facing Ben.

"I don't know. Somewhere in town, I guess. Why?" Ben asked and I could see the gears in Bill's head turning. "Nothing." Bill said softly as I walked over to him and squeezed his hand softly. He looked at me and squeezed my hand back.
