Chapter Three
"Mary, I wanted to introduce everyone to Jack!" Mike whined. "Pleeeeeease~"
The black haired girl slapped her hand over his mouth again. "Shut up, please. Just, fine, go ahead."
The blond grinned, grabbing both of us and dragging us down the hall until he slowed to look around.
"If you see a giant, that's probably Roger." Mike laughed, searching over people's heads to find his friends.
I started looking around until my eyes fell on a girl in black leggings and a jean jacket, her gaze being locked on me as I walked.
"Amanda! Glad we found you." Mike cheered, throwing an arm over her shoulder and snapping us both back into reality.
The brunette chuckled, shaking her head for a moment. "Did you kidnap someone new?"
"Why does everyone keep asking me that?" The blond boy asked, confused at the question.
I smiled, holding in my laughter. "My name's Jack, it's nice to meet you." I greeted, offering my hand.
Amanda gave it a gentle shake, smiling at me before turning and looking over her shoulder. "The rest of the guys are right over there. Waiting for the first day assembly, you know?"
She lead us all over to three boys that were standing, talking about their summer vacation. The closest one was a handsome boy with a messenger bag. To call him a boy didn't even seem right, his maturity obvious within moments and of meeting him. Next to him, or more accurately clinging to him, was a small boy in a blue button up. The last guy, who I took a wild guess at saying this was Roger, looked to be about 6 foot 5 and built like a tank.
"Hey guys." Mary said, waving a little as she stepped forward. "Mike found a new friend."
The blond made his way in front of Mary, smirking as the girl glared at him. "This is Jack!" He introduced, gesturing to me.
I raised my hand in a half wave. "Hey."
James smiled, almost infectious with enthusiasm and genuine joy. "It's nice to meet you, Jack." He said, gesturing over at the brown haired boy next to him. "This is Pete. He's a little shy, but don't worry too much about that, he'll open up to you quickly."
The boy just barely holding his sleeve nodded.
"And that's Roger." He continued, looking over at the tank.
He smiled over at me, patting me on the shoulder with enough force to crack a boulder. "Great to meet you buddy."
"Nice to meet you too..." I replied, gritting my teeth and rubbing my shoulder.
"Hell of a grip." Mike whispered in my ear. "He tries to be gentle, but it's a struggle."
"It's fine, don't worry about it."
"I see you've met up with Mike, Mary, and Amanda already." James noted. "Probably already realized that Mike is crazy."
"Mary dresses and acts like a clown threw up on her." Mike remarked.
"Amanda's only here because nobody else likes her." The black haired girl added.
The brunette frowned at her friends. "Well at least I don't break all the people I touch." She muttered, glancing over at Roger.
The tank rolled his eyes. "At least I can talk to people at all."
Pete turned his head down, leaning into James more. The seeming leader of the group pulled the small boy against him, chuckling at the group as a whole.
"You guys are all jerks." He laughed.
Mike narrowed his eyes. "We need to find a way to insult him without being completely stereotypical..."
"It'll happen one day." Mary assured. "We must be patient."
Mike nodded as we all went off to the auditorium, promising that he'd tell me all about everyone while we didn't pay attention to the principle talking at all.
"Besides James, Mary and I do most of the planning for our outings. Usually out to eat or playing games at someone's house." He explained.
He looked over towards the giant a few seats down. "Roger's the only openly gay guy in the school, but we're all about 95% sure Pete's into James. Oh, speaking of people being into people..."
He frowned at the raven haired girl next to him, playing on her phone at the moment.
"Do you think you could... You know, not go after Mary..?"
I smiled, surprised that he actually mentioned it. He seemed like the kinda guy to just bottle that stuff up and never actually mention that he liked someone.
"Don't worry about it." I laughed. "I'm not really into her, we just met."
"Just a future thing then..." Mike muttered. "I'll get around to asking her out..."
"Sure you will, buddy. Sure you will."
