Chapter 8: Thoughts
After she finished breakfast, Jem was told by Jason to get some rest before training, so she went back to her room.
All she could think of was what Honey had said before Jason abruptly cut her off.
Wait... there was this experiment who looked just like you. She was very mean and she would--
Was the lab really that bad? And why would Jason not allow Honey to tell her about the lab?
Suddenly, she gasped. Jem realized something. What if she was that mean experiment that tortured the others? Maybe that was why the scientists purged her memory. They didn't want her to still be mean. Or remember how it was like in the lab.
It was too much for Jem to bear. She whimpered and let sleep take her.

When Jem opened her eyes again, it was already morning. She shook out her fur wishing that she could shake off the scary thoughts just as easily.
If only.
The door creaked open, revealing Jason.
"Ready for some training?" He asked while smiling.
Jem had tried to shake off her thoughts unsuccessfully. Maybe training with Jason would be a good enough distraction.
She nodded enthusiastically, trying to hide her discomfort and fear.
She was either a good actor and successfully hid her emotions or Jason pretended not to notice, because he opened the door and gestured.
"After you. Ladies first!" He explained.
Jem obeyed going out there door.

While she trained, Jem did feel better, but as soon as she got back to her room, her nagging feelings were back.
She covered her eyes and tried to sleep, since she would feel less of the swirling thoughts in her head.
