Tiny Fingers
Josh's POV
She was here. I was officially a dad. Maya was a mom. We had a daughter.
I smiled over at Maya who was sat holding her as she slept. She wasn't even 2 hours old but still so perfect.
"She has your eyes." I smiled to my wife.
"She has your dark hair." She smiled, not being able to take her eyes of our daughter. "I never thought I'd ever love something so small so much."
"Baby don't cry." I wiped the tears that were spilling from her eyes.
"Sorry, hormones." She chuckled.
"Don't be sorry, you just pushed a human being out your body." I smiled at her and pulled her hair back so it was behind her shoulders.
"I love you." She smiled up to me.
"I love you." I pecked her lips. "She has your eyes." I realised allowed staring down at our daughter as she slowly opened them.
"You think so?" She asked as her finger gently grazed her finger over of baby's cheek.
"I know so." I whispered. Since it was the middle of the night nobody was coming to visit for a couple hours which gave us plenty of time to bond with the new light of our lives.

Maya's POV
I don't remember falling asleep but I remember waking up to the sound of husband humming to our baby.
"She needs a name you know." I smiled at them, receiving a massive smile back from Josh. My mind slipped back to all the times throughout my pregnancy of us debating names and not agreeing one a signal one. Although it did take me a couple seconds to realise he was smiling at a little box next to my bed.
"What's this?" I raised an eyebrow at him.
"Open it and see." He smirked. I shook my head at hike and began to undo the white ribbon then removed the lid and looked inside. I verbally gasped.
"Josh-" My eyes watered.
"Do you like it?" He smiled and came to sit next to me on the bed, still holding our baby girl.
"I love it." I kept staring at it in disbelief and let my mind take me back to quite early in my pregnancy.
"When is too early to discuss baby names?" Josh asked as he waltzed his way into the laundry room as I folded the stuff that just came out the dryer.
"Well actually I already-"
"Maya Matthews don't tell me you've picked our baby's name without me?" He fake acted shocked with his hand on his chest.
"Shut up." I threw a sock at him. "So since it's a girl-" he looked at me with a confused look, "a mother knows."
"Sure, continue." I rolled my eyes.
"So how about, Poppy. I know it's simple but I really like it." The look on his face told me straight away that he wasn't as much of a fan.
"Um, we can add it to the list I guess." I simply nodded not wanting to start a huge debate.
Through the rest of my pregnancy that name just stuck out to me above any others. When we found out she was a girl, we walked past a field full of poppies and that's when I brought it up properly and learned Josh was keen on the name. Until...
"What does the mean?" I asked him as I stared at the poppy necklace in the palm of my hand.
"Well I've been thinking, and just seeing her face, she really does suit the name and it's perfect. I'm sorry for not agreeing sooner. I started liking it a few weeks ago but wasn't to wait til this moment to tell you." My eyes teared up and I nodded. "Baby don't cry." He slightly chuckled.
"I just love you so much. Both of you. So, so much." I took Poppy from his arms gently as she looked up at me. Josh stood up and put the necklace on me causing my heart to swell up with love.
"Welcome to the world Poppy Matthews."
