| Chapter One - You're Particularly Non-Virgin-Like Today |
Dawson Elizabeth Clare knew three things about the situation she found herself in.
One, she was wearing no underwear under the large oversized shirt she was sporting. Nice one.
Two, she had a pounding headache.
Three, there was a note on the bedside table.
Pushing away the covers, she hauled herself out of bed and picked up the note. It was written on the paper of a hotel notepad.
I'd recommend washing the sheets.

Anxiously she glanced towards the bed. Her face burned. Oh lord. She ripped the sheets of the bed and threw them on the floor. Her legs shook and suddenly she was aware of the throbbing pain in her... Nether areas. Groaning, she searched desperately for her clothes. She spotted her denim shorts, t-shirt, and undergarments in a pile by an armchair. The situation was so uncomfortable even without someone there. She knew it hadn't quite sunken in, and when it did she wanted to be far from this cheap motel room. She also wanted the scent of the mint and sandalwood of whatever asshole that had done this her gone from her skin. To be honest, despite her situation she liked the scent. It was cold but inviting. But, nevertheless, she needed it gone. She stalked towards the shower. How the hell did I let this happen? She thought as she stepped in the shower. The water was warm but no matter how hard she tried to relax, she couldn't. Her shoulders were stiff, her posture, tense.

In Dawson's defense, it couldn't really just be her fault that her V Card was shattered. She didn't want to go to River Grove with her sister and her friends, that was her mother's idea. The party they'd attended was most definitely not her idea, that was all her older sister. Dawson knew it was petty, blaming it on everyone else, but that wasn't going to stop her. She scanned the room for her cellphone. She dialed it on the hotel phone and her pocket began buzzing.
"Way to go. 50 points to your house, Dawson." She muttered to herself, her usual sarcasm ever present.
She removed the case from her cellphone, happy to see the emergency money and credit card still tucked in there. She tied up her wet hair sloppily and left the room in a hurry. She went to the front desk to pay for the room. The asshole probably didn't. She thought in distaste. The twenty-something girl at the front stared at her, a judgemental look on her face. She blew a bubble with her gum and Dawson resisted the urge to pop in her face.
"Room 203." She muttered just loudly enough.
"Seventy-one dollars." The girl said, her voice raspy and low. Her voice startled Dawson but she didn't let it show. She continued to fix her pretentious glare on Dawson.
Dawson placed four twenties on the counter. "Thanks." At that, she left. That girl could've been gorgeous, her long platinum blonde hair and gray eyes had Dawson a tad envious. She'd always been rather plain with her brown locks and brown eyes. But, Dawson didn't judge girls who limped out of hotels.
To be fair, she didn't really have any experience with limping hotel patrons of the female specimen.
However, this didn't change her opinion on the front desk lady.
Dawson dialled her sister's phone number and braced for impact. Well, not literally.
She picked up the phone on the first ring. "Dawson, you scared the living shit out of me! And no, I don't give any fucks about the MCR reference. And if this isn't Dawson and it's the idiot she went to sleep with, I'll have you know that I will kill you in the most gruesome, excruciatingly painful way known to man. I will chop your b-"
"KRIS! I get it. Calm yourself." She almost screamed. Kris Clare was Dawson's older sister. Kris had always been the wild one and Dawson was fine with that, so long as she wasn't dragged down with her. It wasn't selfish, it was self-preservation. Lord knows that Dawson would fight a dying battle to protect her sister from anyone else. But saving her sister from herself was an impossible task.
"I will not calm down! Dawson we thought you were kidnapped or something." She rolled her eyes. Leave it to Miss. All Dramatic to make it sound like this was the climax of a bad teen fiction novel.
She tuned her out.
"...PURGATORY!" However, caught her attention.
"What?" she said, choking back a laugh. What on earth (or in Hell) had driven her sister to yell that?
"Ugh. Where are you?"
She craned her neck to spot the see the motel's sign. "River's Edge Motel. The one just of the freeway." She said, noticing the familiar road.
"Sit tight, bitch."
"Love ya too, jerk."
-
"To say this drive is uncomfortable would be the understatement of the century." Dawson grumbled, making no attempts to be discreet.
"It's not me that's making you uncomfortable. It's the sex."
"Wow. You're particularly blunt today."
"You're particularly non-virgin-like today." She fired back, merging into the left lane.
"Okay, damn. I get it."
Her sister remained silent. She was two years older than Dawson. She was the outgoing to Dawson's reserved, the happy to Dawson's bored, the light to Dawson's dark. Their opposites even reflected in their appearances. Dawson had gotten her mother's wavy, brown hair and her father's big brown eyes; Kris had gotten her father's straight, blonde hair and her mother's blue-gray eyes.
Sighing, Kris turned onto the dirt road that lead to their family's cabin. She parked the car and turned to her younger sister.
"Dawson, you know I'm not judging. You know I can't. But, I don't know, it occurred to me that you aren't the little sister you were ten years ago. You aren't the little sister you were two months ago, really."
"Yeah."
"That wasn't really something you can say 'yeah' to."
"Yeah." She said, a smile tugging at her lips.
"Dawson," Kris said, trying to sound menacing but failing as she was smiling as well.
"Yeah?"
"Yeah."
