- Camping trip -

Third Person's POV

It's been about three months since graduation. Jungkook's birthday passed as well as their third year anniversary. They've been busy, to say the least. Currently, they're practicing for another tour that'll be twice as long as their first one.

However, recently there's been something on Taehyung's mind that he can't seem to shake away. Taehyung and Jungkook have just grown closer and closer in the past three years they've been together, and the elder feels like it's finally time to do the unexpected.

He wants to pop the question.

But he doesn't exactly know how. He wants it to be special, something unforgettable, but also something private. At most, he wants his friends to be there and that's it. He doesn't want to pop the question in front of thousands, as in, like, a concert. He also doesn't want to make it public on the streets.

That's too much pressure on the younger and what if he has an anxiety attack again? Granted it's been almost a year since he's had one, but still! He has an idea, a small one, but it's a start. He wants everything to be a secret, but he's considering telling his friends.

Or, at least, Jin and Jimin.

They're the most trusted to help plan this accordingly. Along with trying to plan when, where, and what he'll do, he also has to make sure it stays a secret from Jungkook. Which is nearly impossible since the pair don't leave each other's side for anything unless they have vocal lessons or private dance classes.

Vocal lessons.

Holy shit, wait.

Taehyung sits up in his bed, eyes widening. He frantically looks around the room, seeing the bathroom light on in the dorm. He sighs, laying back in bed. Okay. Jungkook didn't see anything. Cool. Taehyung stares at the ceiling, thinking of the possibility.

Does Jungkook have any vocal lessons soon? What about private dance lessons?

Then it hits him. He does. Jungkook's been working on a solo, one he plans to perform on tour. As far as Taehyung's aware, the younger has yet to record it and release it, but they're coming up with the dance for it. Excitement bubbles within the elder, a smile forming on his face.

This could actually work.

If he tells Jin and Jimin about his thoughts, then they can help him pick out decorations and items to make this whole proposal ten times better. They can help him plan and set up. If he tells Namjoon, Hoseok, and Yoongi, they can keep watch on the younger and keep him distracted.

Which can honestly work so well?

Taehyung wants to laugh because for once, he feels like a genius. When he presses the back of his hand to suppress a giggle, the lock to the bathroom clicks and out pops the younger. He yawns, bare-faced, and with a smile on his features.

Taehyung smiles at his lover, motioning for him to come over to the bed. Jungkook does, pulling back the covers and slipping into the King-sized bed with Taehyung. They talk for about an hour, laughing a few times then finally deciding to get some sleep.

In the morning, around nine, Taehyung gets down to the dining room in the apartment they live in, pouring himself some milk for cereal. Jin's already there, a pan on the stove and eggs cracked into it. "Can I talk to you?" Taehyung asks lowly, keeping his voice down in case someone hears him.

Jin glances at the brunette, nodding slowly. "Of course. Is something wrong?" Taehyung shakes his head, his brown locks falling over his eyes. He scoots closer to Jin, enough to be in the range where he can whisper and the male can hear him, but not too close to where he invades Jin's private space.

"I need some help," He whispers, staring at the ceiling as he listens. Maybe it's this fear that Jungkook will come barging in, hear them talking, and the plans will be ruined. He's convinced he's paranoid, honestly. "With...?" Jin trails, flipping the eggs in the pan.

"Don't freak out, but I've been thinking of something." At the tone that flees from Taehyung's lips, Jin turns his head. His eyebrows are raised and there's something written in his eyes. He already has his suspicions, and with a few more words, Jin will probably piece the puzzle together.

"I'm listening," The now raven-haired male says, holding a spatula in his hand to which he twirls. "As you know, Jungkook and I have been together for three years now. And, I've been thinking that maybe it's time for the next step." Surprisingly, Jin's calm, but the excitement seems to bubble underneath the cool and composed smile.

"You're going to propose." It's more of a statement rather than, you know, a question, but Taehyung nods at it. "That's the plan. Just need to figure out what to do and how to do it." Jin smiles wider than he already was, adding some salt into the pan along with black pepper.

"Have something in mind?" The conversation flows so casually it genuinely shocks the younger, but he keeps it going. "Kind of? It's not an entire plan, but, well, it's a start." Jin doesn't say anything, grabbing some plates from the cabinet to his right and putting the eggs onto them.

He places bacon, that Taehyung failed to notice, besides the eggs and calls it done. "Okay. Where did you want it happening?" This is where things get tricky, but Taehyung has a clue. Their secret hideout is a place that still exists, they just haven't visited it in a while.

"The area I had that date with Jungkook at." Jin's eyes sparkle and he nods, leaning against the counter with the plate of food in his hand. "Okay. How did you want to do it?" Now that's where Taehyung's lost, his mind drawing blank when the question rolls around in it.

"That's where I need your help."

Jin smirks, like actually smirks, taking a bite out of his food and releasing a low chuckle. It somehow excites me, his eyes shifting over to where Taehyung stands beside him. "Jungkook's got dance practice today, yes?" He asks, setting down his plate to pull out a cup from the cabinet. "I believe so."

"Perfect. Go get ready. Meet me downstairs, outside, in an hour." The brunette's eyes widen as his eyebrows fly up, lips parting. He didn't think it'd be that easy? "Oh, and, I'm inviting Jimin." Taehyung chuckles this time, nodding as he finishes up his breakfast and washes his dishes.

And so, an hour later, Taehyung meets Jin and Jimin outside of their apartment. Jungkook was getting ready for his dance lessons when Taehyung was about to leave. Luckily, however, the younger didn't question much. So, now, the trio gets into Jimin's car and drives down to the mall.

"So, that forest area is where you're planning the proposal?" Jimin asks, keeping his voice low but the brunette can pick up on the excitement. Taehyung laughs, nodding as he sits in the backseat. "That's the plan." Jin glances back, smiling and pulling out a paper from God knows where.

"Okay. Well, first off, did you want it to just be you and Jungkook? Or did you want us to play a part in the proposal?" Taehyung's eyes widen and something sparks within him. Maybe his friends could help him out in the proposal, but how?

"What if," Jimin pipes up, "we claim to go camping. I mean, no one goes out there right?" Jin snaps his head onto Jimin who stares ahead at the road, taking a right onto the street that leads to the mall. "Okay, where are you going with this?"

Jimin laughs, slowing down as he changes lanes. "What I'm saying is that all seven of us can go camping before we leave on tour. It'll be our way of relaxing. So, we'll all head out there, Jungkook and Taehyung can leave the apartment last, and it'll give us time to set up something there."

Excitement bubbles up inside the brunette, jumping up and down in his seat as he cards his fingers through his hair. "I like that idea!" Just as he says that, Jimin pulls into the mall parking lot. Parking, he shuts off the car. They get off, shutting the doors and heading towards the entrance.

"So, camping?" Jin says, laughing a little. "Different, but definitely unique." Taehyung stuffs his hands into his pocket and nods. "Well, Jungkook's never been camping, has he? Or stargazing?" Jimin and Jin shake their heads, glancing at the younger.

"Something new he gets to experience and knowing him, he'll love it." Jin nods at that, pulling the two younger males towards the arts and crafts store. "So, to make this a little more special, let's get some fairy lights?" Jimin squeals, bursting into the store and running.

Taehyung rolls his eyes but nods. So, together, the three males plan things together. At one point, they sit at the food court with bags of items in their hands. Jin calls Namjoon, explaining the whole camping idea. They make a quick stop to their car, placing their bags in the trunk then heading back into the mall.

"You need rings. So, let's get you some motherfucking rings," Jin shouts, getting all excited. They head to the jewelry store, searching through the rings until finally, Taehyung's eyes sparkle when he sees one. Jimin and Jin don't fail to notice it, high fiving one another.

So, they end up leaving the store with the rings, heading back to the car, and down to the other store made for outdoor activities. They spend an hour or so picking out tents and sleeping bags, grabbing a few more necessary things, and finally heading back to the apartment.

According to Hoseok, Jungkook's still practicing his new dance for his new song, and he'll be there for another hour or so. It all seems too perfect for Taehyung but they don't waste time. They unload the car, taking things up and putting them in Jin's closet. No one goes into his room anyway.

Then, the trio sits at the kitchen table, discussing the plans. "So let me get this straight," Jin says, jotting down a few more ideas onto that paper, then looking up at the other two males. "In a week from today, we'll all head out to the forest to go camping. There are three tents, big enough to fit four people in each tent."

"Alongside sleeping bags, we'll load cars with blankets, pillows, and a few other things like the fairy lights, Bluetooth speakers, portable chargers, food that I'll be cooking the day of, and flowers?" Taehyung nods, growing excited.

"I'll have Yoongi and Hoseok set up the tents while Jimin works on making the whole place romantic. You want the fairy lights all around the tents, right? As well as the little campfire we'll make?" Jin asks, looking at the brunette. Taehyung nods again, unable to hold back the smile. "After dinner, we'll relax for a bit then you'll pop the question when the sun finally sets?"

That's when Taehyung finally speaks, his mouth taking the shape of a box as he claps excitedly. "Yup! Sounds pretty accurate to me!" Jimin giggles and so does Jin because Taehyung's adorable when he's excited and happy. They both deserve this step in their relationship.

So, the plan is set in stone. They have a week before their tour officially begins and a week to prepare everything for this proposal. It's simple, yet complex at the same time. It'll be something Jungkook will definitely remember, and that thought sparks joy inside the brunette.

He opens the box with the rings, staring down at them with a fond smile and glossy eyes. This is happening. This is really fucking happening.

It hits him hard, but is it so worth it.

He's finally proposing to Jungkook.
