Chapter Eighty-One

Tryina shut me out

- Let's play ball -

Third Person's POV

It's safe to say that news spreads fast.

It's been a month since graduation, and more than half the city of Seoul already knows about the seven being new to the Kpop industry. They've gained fans, mostly from University, and they're growing faster than they even expected.

The month has been extremely busy, so much so that they hardly spend time outside of headquarters. Bighit staff has now informed them that students still enrolled in Bighit university will be moving into the headquarters' dormitory, so dance practice and music lessons would be easier to conduct.

This meant that Jungkook and Taehyung had to move. Headquarters was just a few blocks down, but still, it meant moving. So, that became their plans for the weekend. Regarding their music, they already had some plans for what their first album would consist of, and what it would be named.

Hoseok, along with other choreographers, was in charge of dances. It seemed like that was Hoseok's thing, so he had fun with it. Yoongi and Namjoon worked together almost all the time coming up with new song material, and they asked the vocalists to demonstrate it for them.

All in all, despite how busy they've been in the past month, they've had insane amounts of fun. The school was out for another two months, giving them time to enjoy their summer off before they were bombarded with exams again.

Jungkook's first year of University was a blast. From the baseball practices to music classes, he enjoyed every second of it. Of course, however, his highlight of the University year had to be winning the playoffs. It had been years since Bighit won any baseball championship, so this one was a big deal.

It still brings a smile to his face, despite it being months later.

"You okay?" A deep voice asks. It's one he's far too familiar with. Jungkook smiles, nodding his head. "I'm okay. What about you?" Taehyung takes a seat beside Jungkook, swinging his legs off the balcony. "I'm perfect." There's a comfortable silence that takes over, at least, until Jungkook speaks up.

"How were vocal lessons?" Taehyung shrugs, laying down on his back and staring up at the sky. "They were fine. Same old same old, nothing entirely new." Jungkook laughs at that, laying down too, watching the clouds float above them. It's noon, but it feels later.

"What were you thinking about?" Taehyung asks, breaking the silence that came over them again. Jungkook hums, taking a deep breath, closing his eyes while he does so. "This past year." It's almost been a year, actually. A few more days mark it as one.

They're eleven months into their relationship, their one year anniversary striking a week and a half away. "Oh?" At this, the blond is interested, turning his head to look at his lover. Jungkook just stares at the sky, but he smiles. "Yeah. One hell of a year."

"There were a lot of ups and downs," Taehyung draws out, smiling too. Jungkook turns his head, lips twitched up to form this innocent smile of sheer joy. "More ups than downs, however." A deep chuckle rumbles through Taehyung's chest and he nods. "Yeah. More ups than downs."

"Hey, Taehyung?" He hums, turning his head from the clouds above to look at his lover. "Would you consider playing baseball for another year?" The question doesn't take the blond by surprise, not as he expects it to. "Would I? Absolutely. I made memories I'll cherish for a lifetime in that sport."

Jungkook's eyes light up, and that's all it takes for Taehyung to know that his lover has a plan. Nonetheless, the teen stays quiet, staring back up at the sky. "Okay, tell me. What's your plan?" Jungkook giggles, full of joy and innocence. "You'll see."

"You know," Jungkook says, breaking the long pause of silence. It had to have been five minutes since they last said a word. "Despite there being several downs in this year, like my parents showing up and yours being pricks, I'm glad it happened."

Taehyung nods, because he too is glad that what happened, happened. Even if it meant pain and sadness. "Why is that?" He asks, wanting to know the younger's reason. Jungkook just smiles, putting his hands behind his head as he stares up at the partly cloudy sky.

"The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you have to put up with the rain." It may be eleven months with Jungkook, but Taehyung still manages to feel amazed when the younger spits out some words of wisdom. "You never fail to amaze me, baby." A smile twitches upon the blond's face while he stares at his lover.

"But you're right. You have to endure the storm to see the rainbow." Jungkook nods, eyes lit up with happiness. Silence falls between them for a while, peace swirling around the two. They're out on the balcony for over an hour, just relaxing under the sun's warm glow.

Until Jin opens the door and steps out onto the balcony with them. "What might you two be up to?" He asks with his arms crossed over his chest and a bright smile spread across his face. "Enjoying the beauty of today," Comes Taehyung's response, eyes fluttering open to look up at Jin. The blond hums.

"As peaceful as that sounds, you two haven't had lunch and it's 1:30. So, up you go," He says, hooking his hands under Taehyung's arms and pulling upright in a sitting position. Jungkook sits up on his own, flashing that big, bright bunny smile at Jin. "Are we eating at headquarters?"

"Mm, no. As much as I love it here, the food isn't that good." Jungkook laughs, shoulders moving a bit while he does so. "You're just saying that because it isn't your food, eomma." Jin's eyes light up at the name, but he smiles. Jungkook's right, after all.

"That's not the point! Point is, you two need to eat, and Joon wants to treat us out to eat for lunch. So, come on. The others are already in their cars." And so, two minutes later, the three are walking out of headquarters and heading for their cars.

When they arrive at the restaurant Jin told them to go to, the others are already there, getting off their cars. So, the blond and the pink-haired male do the same, shutting the car doors and walking towards the restaurant.

Thirty minutes later, laughter floods the table as smiles are shared. They reminisce about the past year, but also look ahead at the upcoming future. They share their plans- their goals and dreams- and they praise one another for them.

"So, Jungkook," Hoseok says with a bright smile, head tilt to the side ever so slightly. "I hear that you're quite good with words. Is that true?" Jungkook smiles, glancing at Taehyung. "I have my moments." They laugh, staring at the younger with a fond gaze.

"Mind sharing a few words of wisdom?" And Jungkook doesn't mind, taking a sip of his drink and clearing his throat. "Since we were talking about dreams, I'll say this," He says, sitting back a bit as he glances at each of his friends.

"Don't be pushed around by the fears in your mind. Be led by the dreams in your heart." The six nod at the teen's words, clapping while they smile. "Yup, he's definitely good with words," Jimin says, laughing as he stares at the youngest of the group. Taehyung kisses his cheek, and their lunch date continues.

Jungkook grabs his phone from his pocket, quickly sending a text to his baseball team and to Seoul's. It's quick and simple, just a little request to meet somewhere at four. "Are you guys free for the rest of the day?" Jungkook asks, catching everyone's attention.

They nod, looking at one another then back at Jungkook. "Yeah, today we don't have anything planned." Taehyung eyes Jungkook with a certain look, a look that says he knows Jungkook has something planned. But the teen just smiles, nodding. "Perfect."

"I have something planned for us at four." They don't even question the teen, they just nod as they continue on with their meal. Jungkook's beaming in his seat, receiving a response from his team and Seoul's. Perfect.

The time passes way too quickly when they're all together, and soon enough it's 3:30. They left the restaurant forty minutes ago, parting ways until four rolled around. However, Taehyung and Jungkook head for the University, per Jungkook's request.

"You know," Taehyung says as he drives down the street. "We don't move from here until the weekend." Jungkook laughs, nodding. "Trust me, we aren't going to the dorms." Taehyung stays quiet, having an idea of what the teen has in store.

So when they arrive at the parking lot, Taehyung finds a parking space and turns on the radio, not super loud but not quiet either. They listen to music, a.c on, humming to the songs that play from Taehyung's phone. But when Jungkook's song begins to play, his eyes widen as he smiles.

"You have my song on your phone?" Taehyung smiles too, nodding. "Of course I do. Why wouldn't I have my boyfriend's song?" Jungkook smiles, wider than he was, bunny teeth on display. They sit and listen to the first verse before Jungkook speaks again.

"My love for you is a journey; starting at forever and ending at never."

Taehyung flashes his boxy smile, opening the car door, getting out, then opening Jungkook's. He pulls the teen out of the car and hugs him, so tight it hurts, but in a good way. Then, Jungkook giggles, kissing Taehyung's nose and running away from him. Taehyung follows, chasing his lover around the parking lot.

And the world just fades away, because to these two, it's just them. The world doesn't matter, the ones who try to bring them down don't matter. They have each other, and to them, that's plenty. A car horn startles them, and out pops Yoongi's head as he smiles.

"You're blocking the road," He teases, parking next to Taehyung's car as Namjoon drives into the parking lot along with Hoseok. Their friends step out of the car and Jungkook's excitement bubbles within him. So, Taehyung shuts off the car, looking at Jungkook.

Then, Jungkook walks up to Jimin, tapping him on the shoulder. "You're it! No tag backs!" Then, he runs. Jimin gasps, tagging Hoseok and running with Jungkook, the two took off towards the buildings. By now, they caught on, and they all run, tagging one another as they run past the buildings, all the way towards the baseball field.

And when they reach it, Jungkook sees his team and Seoul's, sitting on the grass, laughing, chatting, and tossing a baseball. Jungkook stops, looking back at his friends. "Come on!" He shouts, finally gathering everyone's attention. "Why did you ask us to meet here, Kooks?"

Jungkook grabs a glove, catching the baseball that's tossed to him and staring at his friends- all of them. "We may be accomplishing our dreams of music, but that doesn't mean we need to give up our hobby." The other six let their eyes widen, watching as Jungkook grabs bats and gloves, tossing them gently at his friends.

"Let's be real," He says, looking at everyone. "This year was a lot of fun. We may have started off rusty, but in the end, we had fun with our games. That's what this sport is about, having fun." He smiles, looking at Taehyung. "I made memories with this sport, and I'm not quite ready to give them up just yet."

His team is beaming, Seoul's team is laughing, and his friends and smiling while nodding. Taehyung throws his arm around Jungkook's shoulder, pulling him close with a wide grin. "So, let's do what we love." And Jungkook giggles, his smile never falling as he grips the baseball in his hand.

"Let's play ball!"

Time skips are coming, big ones, but it'll be worth it, just wait.

This story didn't start off happy, but it sure is ending on a good note.
