- Lunch dates and nervous feelings -
Third Person's POV
"Do you guys want to go grab lunch?" The brunette asked the group, watching them nod their heads while Jin protested. "We just had ice cream though." The orange-haired male shook his head, a small chuckle leaving his lips. "Do you really expect that to fill you up?" Jin sighed, shaking his head as well. "I suppose not."
Taehyung clapped his hands, grabbing the attention of everyone within the small group, a smile on his face. "Then it's decided! We're going out for lunch!" He shouted, catching the attention of some strangers nearby who simply laughed at the boy.
Jungkook looked at the ground, trying to keep his gaze there instead of on the people in the group. He really wasn't good at talking to others, and he was now starting to realize that.
"Jungkookie, are you okay?" Jin whispered to the teen, doing his best to not grab the other's attention. The teen shrugged, straying behind the group while they continued to talk and occasionally shout out words and whatnot. Namjoon and Yoongi kept to themselves, discussing something about music while Taehyung, Jimin, and Hoseok continued to talk loudly.
Jin stayed behind with Jungkook, worry laced on his face while he eyed the younger up and down. "You can talk to me, you know that right?" The teen nodded, kicking a pebble that was on the sidewalk as soon as they exited the mall. Jin took the nod as a sign to drop the topic. He sighed, walking next to the teen and kept stealing glances at him. Every so often he would also look up to see what the group was doing, but their actions never concerned the male.
"Jungkookie?" The teen hummed in response, continuing to focus his gaze on the ground. "Did you ever finish school?" Only after the question was asked did Jungkook lift his head up to face Jin. They both stopped in the middle of the sidewalk, letting the group continue to walk ahead of them.
"I did. I was one of the smartest in my school, so I graduated early," He whispered, shrugging a bit while looking at Jin. The blond gasped in surprise, slightly taken aback by the response.
"Have you ever considered going to University?" He questioned the younger while he saw the group stop and look back at them. "No. I was never given the chance to due to specific reasons," The male responded, once again looking at the ground and shuffling around.
They heard footsteps approach but Jungkook refused to lift his head to see whoever was walking in their direction. His body tensed when he felt a hand grab his arm and he immediately pulled away, backing up from the person.
"Woah there, all I wanted to do was walk you guys back to the group," The brunette stated, eyes wide when he saw the reaction from the younger. "Don't touch me," He spat, his body shaking violently while he put his hands in his pocket. Even Jin was taken aback by the reaction. Taehyung's jaw dropped at the response but nodded a bit, slightly defeated.
"Are you-" Jin started but the younger just nodded quickly, instantly cutting him off. "I'm fine. Let's just go," He replied emotionlessly even though his body was still shaking violently. Jungkook's mind was a highway, racing seventy miles per hour as he tried to calm himself down. They weren't his parents, and he knew that, but he couldn't help but be afraid. He didn't want to endure that pain again.
Jungkook walked ahead of Jin, leaving the older completely baffled. He shook his head, trying to catch up to Jungkook who was still looking down at the ground. What was that? Why did he react that way when Taehyung touched him? The blond continued to ask himself questions, but in the end, he found them all unanswered. He sighed again, placing a hand on his neck while he walked beside the teen, an unreadable expression on his face.
He's probably lost in thought, the male thought to himself while they caught up with the group. Jimin was about to ask a question but stopped when Jin glared his way and shook his head. They kept quiet from that point on, walking towards the restaurant. Jungkook had stopped shaking but his face held utter sadness, which made Jin's heart ache. What happened to the younger before he met him?
Feeling himself run into someone, he instantly stumbled back a bit and looked up to face Namjoon. "Sorry. I wasn't looking," The blond mumbled while Namjoon laughed in response. "It's fine, Jinnie. Are you okay?" The blond shook his head, staring at Jungkook who was the last to enter the restaurant. "I'll tell you later," He mumbled, seeing Namjoon furrow his eyebrows but nod in response.
The seven boys entered the restaurant, immediately asking for a table while Jungkook just stood behind them, trying his best to stay as invisible as possible. Once they arrived at their table, Jungkook made sure he sat next to Jin or Namjoon, but both were preferable. Smiling internally, he saw that they motioned for him to sit in between them. He nodded, mumbling out a small thank you before sitting down and looking at his hands.
"Tell me what you want Jungkookie and I'll order it for you," Jin whispered into the younger's ear while he snapped his head up to face the older. His face lit up a bit, eyes sparkling while Jin smiled at him. "Really?" He whispered and the blond nodded, a small chuckle leaving his lips. The teen looked at the menu, carefully picking it up and scanning through the items.
Finally deciding on something he wanted to try, he pointed it out on the menu and showed Jin. Jin smiled at him, nodding his head then asked him what drink he wanted. Jungkook, having no idea what was what, let Jin decide for him. After he was done picking out his food and drink, the teen returned his gaze back down onto his hands, tuning out the conversations around him.
"Jungkook?" He heard someone say, snapping him out of his thoughts while he hummed in response. "Do you go to University?" He heard Jimin's voice ask. "No," He deadpanned, never lifting his head up. He heard the whole table fall quiet but he didn't care. He didn't feel like talking anyway. "Would you consider registering?"
The teen sighed, getting a bit annoyed by the fact that they were even talking to him. Couldn't they see that he didn't wish to socialize? "Don't know," He replied coldly, feeling all eyes on him. He moved his head a bit, trying to catch a glimpse of what Jin was doing. He noticed that the blond wasn't even paying attention to him, almost as if he was lost in his own thoughts.
"Are you okay, Jungkook?" He heard the deep voice ask, feeling slight chills run down his spine.
"M'fine," He once again replied, hearing a few sighs. "The kid obviously doesn't want to talk, leave him be," He heard someone say, looking up quickly to find the source of the voice. His eyes landed on the male with blond, almost white, hair, a small smile on his face while he stared at Jungkook. Jungkook nodded in return, a small nod as a thank you.
They continued their conversations, excluding Jungkook as he didn't want to participate. Soon, the waitress arrived to take their orders. Jungkook looked over a Jin, who kept smiling at him, and eventually, the two began their own conversation. They didn't even notice the others stop talking and focus on them. "Would you want to enroll in our University?" Jin questioned, staring at Jungkook while he cautiously grabbed his hand.
Jungkook didn't even flinch at the action, instead, he stared back, sighing a bit. "I honestly don't know. I'm not good with people," He whispered, just loud enough for Jin to hear. The whole group focused on the pair, listening in to their conversation. "But the guys will be there. You have them and you won't have to talk to others if you don't want to," Jin assured, seeing the younger relax a bit.
"They don't even like me," He muttered, making Jin frown and furrow his eyebrows. "Why do you say that Jungkook?" He mumbled, a little sad at the fact that the teen thought his friends didn't like him. "Everyone hates me," He replied, looking down while he grew sad. Everyone he has met in the past has hated him. His parents hated him, his classmates hated him, his bullies.
"I don't hate you," Jin replied, his voice laced with concern and sadness. "Not yet. Sooner or later you and Namjoon will hate me," The teen muttered, slumping in his seat. Before Jin could respond, the waitress arrived with their food, beginning to hand out the plates and bowls. Jungkook sighed, mumbling a small thank you when the waitress handed him his food.
Jin grabbed the younger's hand, forcing his gaze onto his own. "I could never hate you, Jungkookie. Whether you believe that or not, I could never," The blond whispered, the teen's jaw dropping a bit. "Why do you say that?" He whispered back, looking at the male while he gave a small sad smile. "Because I see myself in you, Jungkook."
Jungkook's eyes widened in shock, feeling Jin's hand move off of his. He watched the older begin to eat his food, making the teen soon do the same. He gently placed the food in his mouth, slightly afraid of what it would taste like. His eyes widened when he realized the food was actually really good. Jin chuckled a bit, seeing the younger's reaction. The simple chuckle alone made everyone at the table look in Jin's direction, eyes landing on the teen.
Jungkook blushed, looking down while the table chuckled at him. "Is it good, Kook?" He heard Yoongi ask, a smile on his face while he nodded. "Yeah..." The group seemed to have appreciated the response because soon they were all talking again and laughing. Jungkook still chose not to speak, instead eat his food, but he did laugh sometimes. Throughout the whole meal, he could feel Jin's eyes glancing his way.
Although he wasn't the only one who glanced at the teen from time to time. Jungkook also spotted the brunette doing the same, which made the teen confused. Had the brunette not liked the teen already? Was there something wrong with the teen that made the older constantly stare at him? The teen didn't know why the brunette continued to look his way, but he never found the courage to ask.
Once they finished with their lunch, Taehyung paid since he invited them, and they walked out. Jungkook had a small smile on his face, his hand grabbing Jin's shirt to make sure he wouldn't trail too far behind him. Jin smiled at the action, as well as everyone else. "Do you guys want to hang out or something?" Jimin asked, standing in between Hoseok and Yoongi. Namjoon shrugged while Jin nodded a bit. Taehyung was the one to exclaim.
"Movies?" He shouted, startling the teen a bit but shrugged it off. "At an actual theatre or at home?" Yoongi asked, making the brunette smile brightly. "At my place," He stated, excitement evident within his face. The boys nodded, following the very excited brunette back to his house. Once arriving, the teen looked down, not wanting to stare at the house.
"Come on Jungkookie, let's sit down," Namjoon stated, walking towards the couch while Jungkook followed. They sat down, Namjoon patting his back a bit while he stared at the teen. "Is everything alright?" He asked softly, seeing the younger nod, a smile on his face.
"Yeah, everything is okay. Thanks for lunch," He mumbled, a small blush on his face. The blond male laughed, sitting back. "You shouldn't thank me for lunch. Taehyung was the one who suggested and paid for it."
The younger tensed a bit but sighed. "I'll go say thank you now. Maybe he needs help with something." Namjoon smiled brightly at the younger, seeing him get up and walk in the direction of the brunette. "Uh... Taehyung?" He asked quietly, watching the older quickly turn around and look at the teen. "Hey! Everything alright?" He questioned cautiously, watching Jungkook play with his hands.
"Yeah... I just wanted to t-thank you for lunch," The teen said, hearing the brunette laugh a bit. "Don't worry about it. At least you enjoyed the meal, right?" Jungkook nodded his head in response, looking at the brunette while his heart raced. Why did Taehyung have this effect on him? "Do you need help with anything?" The teen asked, feeling a little bold. Taehyung noticed this, smirking a bit and nodding. "Sure. Can you help me grab the movies?"
After the pair grabbed some movies to watch, the brunette grabbed Jungkook's hand, watching the younger grow nervous. "Are you nervous around me?" He whispered, hearing the teen's breath hitch. "N-no..." He stuttered, seeing Taehyung smile brightly at the boy. "Whatever you say, Kook." He smiled, walking towards the couch with a very nervous Jungkook behind him.
What was this boy doing to him?
