Chapter 44: The Truth
A/N: This chapter contains abuse and a bit of profanity. And therefore may disturb some viewers. I'll tell you when it begins, and when it ends.
(Megan POV)
Hapu opened the door to the spare bedroom, letting us in to reveal a rather large room with cream walls, an orange carpet, four single beds lined up on the side, and a window on the far wall which overlooked the ocean.
'There are only four beds, so y'all will either have to share a bed. Or someone will have to sleep on the floor. But I'm sure y'all will have sleeping bags so I don't think that'll be a problem.' Hapu told us, standing aside so we could have a proper look at the room.
'Thanks again Hapu, we really appreciate it.' Lillie smiled.
'It's not a problem. Now y'all have a good night.' The short brunette flashed us a smile, before walking off.
Sun, Lillie, Rose, Gladion and I all looked at each other, wondering who should start up a new conversation. It was a rather uncomfortable silence, with only the sounds of waves in the background filling the space. Finally, Sun decided to speak.
'So... shall we?'
We nodded, and one by one we entered the cozy bedroom that had been assigned to us.
'So which one of you is sleeping on the floor?' Rose asked, while plopping herself on one of the beds and crossing her legs in a pretzel manner.
'Why can't you?' Glad frowned, placing a hand on his hip.
'Because I said so, Madion!'
I snorted at the nickname the short female had just given my cru-... friend, and covered my mouth to stifle my laughter.
'Why you little bi-'
'Woah Woah Woah!' I raised my voice, and grabbed the blonde's arm to hold him back. 'Calm down there 'Madion' don't go killing little girls!'
I secretly glared at the smirking girl, gritting my teeth. '...No matter how much they deserve it...'
Gladion sighed, pouting as he pulled his arm out of my grasp. 'Fine...'
'And kiddy Gladion has entered the rink...'
'Seriously though, who's gonna sleep on the floor?' Sun asked, placing his hands behind his head.
I knew this would probably turn into an argument on who was sleeping where. How? Well, I lived with two older siblings until I was ten and we tended to have these types of arguments... A lot. For example: 'I want the last cookie!' or 'No you had last dibs on the remote!' We're kids for Arceus sake. You know what? F*ck it I'm gonna be the bigger person here... I mean bigger Pokem-
UGH! Whatever, I don't know what I am anymore...
'I'll sleep on the floor...' I sighed, raising my hand. The group turned to me, eyebrows raised.
'Are you sure, Megan?' Lillie asked, obviously concerned.
'Well one of us has to.' I cross my arms 'Unless you and Sun want to share a bed?' I suggested, smirking in a teasing manner.
The two eleven year olds scowled at me, not bothering to hide their bright red faces. 'That's not gonna happen!' They snarled at the same time.
'Then I'm sleeping on the floor. I'm saving an argument here guys.'
The room fell silent, and each of my... companions(?) Had calculating looks on their faces. After a minute though, they gave me a quick nod, followed by a 'Fine' from each of them.
'Thank you. Now, boy's get changed in the bathroom since there's only two of you. While us girls get changed in here, sound good?' I suggested, flicking my hair out of my eyes.
'Sounds good.' Sun nodded.
'I'm cool with that.' Rose agreed.
'That's alright with me.' Lillie smiled.
'Yeah whatever...' Gladion shrugged.
'Don't sound so excited, Gladion...' I roll my eyes sarcastically, before pointing towards the door. 'Boys, Get Out!' (A/N:Get it? I made an Edgelord reference.... No? Okay I'll go now...)
Sun and Gladion obeyed, and walked out of the room, closing the door behind them, and left the girls and I to do our thing.
'Okay!' I began, throwing my backpack onto the bed closest to the window and rummaging through it to find my pajamas. 'Let's get started.'
'Okay!' Rose and Lillie responded, doing the same thing I did but on different beds.
I slipped off my Lumberjack shirt and placed it next to me, then I proceeded to pull my t-shirt over my head. I reached down to unclip my bra, but a rather horrified sounding gasp made me pause and look over my shoulder. I saw Rose staring at my back, eyes wide in horror and hands cupped over her mouth.
'Oh my Arceus!' She shrieked, which got Lillie's attention. She had the exact same response when she saw my backside. 'M-Megan... What happened to you?!'
I ran my fingers across my back, feeling the scars and dips against them. Right... How could I forget? My hands clenched into fists, as I turned round to face them. 'It's nothing, I'm fine...' That didn't help, since there were even more marks on my front. There were small and large, thick and thin, shallow and deep. It was like my body was a canvas of wounds that could never be washed away. Dammit... why now?
'I... It's alright you guys, this happened a long time ago...'
'So? What shocks us is that it happened at all!' Lillie cried, bawling her hands into fists. 'Who... Who did this to you?'
This is what I was afraid of. The last thing I wanted was pity. The last thing I wanted was for people to ask about my past. Gladion knew, and yet he didn't ask about how I got them. Wickie knew, and she accepted my privacy. L...Luke knew. But he didn't treat me any differently, because he didn't want me to feel any worse.
'No one... I swear Lillie I'm fine...'
'Dude! That is not fine!' Rose yelled, pointing at my beaten up frame. 'That is f*cking serious!'
'LOOK CAN YOU JUST DROP IT?!' I screamed, punching the wall next to me. By now tears were forming in my eyes. 'YOU GUYS SAW ME EARLIER RIGHT? I WASN'T IN ANY PAIN! THESE SCARS DON'T EFFECT ME IN ANY WAY! WHAT HAPPENED TO ME IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS SO CAN YOU BOTH JUST LAY THE F*CK OFF?!?!'
I lied. Yes they don't affect me physically. But mentally... I still feel the pain I was put through. I can still hear the crack of the whip, and can feel it smacking against my small curled up frame. I can feel the hardness of the baseball bat smash into my head and arms. I can feel the messages that were written into my tender skin with a kitchen knife. I can feel the blood trickling down my body and onto the carpet, I can feel the chains and ropes that kept me in place. I can feel her... Her fists colliding with my face, Her foot kicking into my stomach, her nails digging into my scalp, her hands pulling me up by my hair and throwing me against the wall. Her psychotic laugh ringing in my ears, her piercing dead eyes staring down at my withered state, her twisted grin and unspeakably unpleasant words breaking my once innocent mind.
I'm not fine...
I'm Broken...
I'm Broken because of her...
The door swung open, and the two boys rushed in panting. They had extremely worried looks on their faces. I quickly spun around so my back was facing them, and draped my lumberjack shirt over my shoulders to hide the marks of my past.
'We heard shouting!' Sun frowned. 'Is everything alright in here?'
'You should be asking Megan that.' Oh Rose please don't... 'After all she's the one who yelled at us even though we were only trying to help her!'
I scoffed, back still facing them. 'Yeah by prying! I told you I'm fine!'
I suddenly felt my shirt get pulled off my shoulders, exposing my bare back to the boys. 'How is that 'fine'?!' Rose yelled, pointing at it.
I gasped, standing up to face Rose, ready to scream at her like there was no tomorrow. But just before I did, I caught two emerald eyes with my own blue ones. Gladion was shaking slightly, with his fists clenched and his teeth gritted. He wasn't staring at my scars like everyone else was... He was staring right into my eyes as if to say. 'I know...'
My eyebrows furrowed upwards, and my lips changed from a scowl to a saddened frown as he walked towards me. Until we were only inches apart. He reached up and cupped my cheek with his hand, caressing it with his thumb as we stared into each other's eyes.
'Gladion?'
'...It was your sister...'
W-What? How did he...
My eyes widened in shock as the boy continued to stroke my cheek delicately.
'I... I knew she abused you in the past but... I didn't think it was this bad... I can't even begin to imagine the pain you went through...'
I couldn't hold it in anymore. I was done hiding my emotions. I was done only showing a fraction of my pain to let everyone think I was okay. I didn't want to hide from my friends anymore. I didn't want to hide from him anymore. The tears finally gushed out, and I covered my mouth to muffle my loud sobs. Gladion gasped as I collapsed into his chest, and wrapped my arms around his frame while hiding my face in his shoulder. But he soon recovered from being stunned and wrapped his arms around me tightly yet comfortably, and began rubbing circles into my back while resting his chin on the top of my head. We sunk to the ground, not pulling away from each other's embrace, and I soon realised he was crying too.
My sobs echoed round the room, while Gladion's sniffles rung through my ears as he pulled me closer and began stroking my hair. His other hand was placed on my back, rubbing it in a comforting manner. He didn't seem to care that it was covered with dips in my skin. His actions and silent crying told me he didn't want to let me go, as if his life depended on keeping me in his arms.
After about half an hour my cries turned into sniffles, signalling to Gladion I had calmed down. He pulled away, but kept his hands on my shoulders.
'Can you tell them what's going on now?' He asked in a hushed tone, his emerald eyes were now red and puffy as they stared into mine. It hurt, seeing him like that. I nodded and looked at the others who looked like they were on the verge of tears themselves.
'I was abused in my past...' I began explaining everything Laura put me through.
Flashback
A/N: Okay things are going to get really graphic now, so I highly recommend not reading this if you're squeamish, easily triggered and/or disturbed. Just a warning.
'I'm home~!' I called out as I stepped through the front door, and closed it behind me. I expected to hear a 'Welcome back!' from my older brother, but instead I got something I didn't want to hear.
'How was school, little sis?'
The female's dark giggle came from around the corner, and my older sister emerged from the shadows. The crazed look in her eyes told me I was going to get another beating, making me back away in fear.
'Aww, are you scared of me? Your sweet older sister who you used to play with all the time? She giggled, showing me another crooked grin as she walked closer with something hidden behind her back.
'S-Stay away!' I snapped, which only made her laugh more.
'But don't you want to play with me~?'
'NO!'
She made a fake sniffle, looking like she was actually upset. That is until her smile returned and she pulled out a cricket bat from behind her. 'Shame. But that doesn't mean I can't play with you~'
I gasped. 'No... Please don-'
I didn't have time to finish as Laura slammed her foot into my stomach, making me cough and crash into the wall making a dent. She towered over me, her hazel eyes glowing in the darkness around us as she raised the bat over her head. It came down quickly, making a swiping noise as it went, before harshly colliding into my side.
Again... and Again... and Again...
I screamed out in agony, tears stinging my eyes as the pain made it harder to breathe. I curled up into a ball, still feeling the hard sting of the bat as it smacked my shoulders, sides and arms.
Then it stopped...
I slowly looked up at my sister, noticing her face was shocked. Did she finally realise what she was doing?
'What am I doing...?' She whispered.
My eyes widened, was she back to normal?
But my thoughts was cut short as her smile returned. The smile that haunted my thoughts. And she cocked her head to the side.
'I can't just let Mr. Bat have all the fun~'
She quickly kicked me over so I was on my hands and knees, and pressed her foot against my back so I couldn't move. I heard her drop the bat, and the sound of her unclipping something from her belt. I looked over my shoulder to see her holding something I dreaded.
The whip...
She was crazy
She was Insane
She quickly removed her foot, before harshly whipping me which left a large gash on my shoulder.
Again... and Again... and Again...
Blood dropped onto the floor and rolled down my damaged skin. My head was spinning, my eyes stung with tears, my throat was sore from my pained screams that filled the house, and my clothes were drenched in crimson. I coughed slightly, and looked up at Laura with pleading eyes.
'P-Please... stop...'
Her smile widened, before punching me in the cheek.
'But I'm having fun playing with my little sister~'
She raised the whip, and another rush of pain ran through my body leaving yet another opening to my skin.
She smirked psychotically, and raised the bat above her head again. She was about to swing it down, but the sound of the back door opening reached our ears making us turn our heads.
A/N: Okay you can keep reading now. The worst of it is over
'I'm home!' Luke called.
Laura panicked and dropped her 'toys', before glaring down at me and kicking me in the stomach one last time.
'This isn't over, you little sh*t...'
And with that she scrambled upstairs, leaving me in a pool of my own blood. Luke came round the corner, only to see my beaten up state which made him gasp sharply. Without wasting another second he dropped his things and rushed over to me, taking off his large brown jacket and wrapping it around me.
'Oh my Arceus, Megan!' He cried, brushing my now bloodstained hair, that stuck to my face, behind my ear. 'She did it again?!'
I nodded weakly, and more tears rolled down my face. My brother wiped them away with his sleeve, before placing his hand on my back.
I winced, and let out a painful whimper as he touched the gashes caused by the whip. His eyes widened, before noticing the whip that was on the floor.
'Oh sh*t...' he whispered, and looked at me with almost teary eyes. 'I... I'm so sorry... I should have been here...'
I smiled weakly, before lightly touching his cheek with my bloody hand and shaking my head.
'You had work... if it wasn't for you we'd be on the streets by now... This isn't your fault, Luke...'
He pulled me into an embrace, which I returned despite the pain I was in.
'I promise I won't let her touch you when I'm around. You can count on it.' He whispered shakily, telling me he was crying too. I closed my eyes, feeling safe in his embrace.
'I know...'
End of flashback
By the time I had finished telling everyone of my abusive past, I had my head down and my fists were clenched on my lap. I let out a shaky breath, and continued:
'By the time I was ten years old, the beatings were so bad that Luke was too afraid to leave for work. I knew if he stayed home to protect me, we would eventually run out of money and end up on the streets. So I packed whatever I needed in my backpack and...' I paused, looking up at the person holding onto me. 'And I ran away...'
Gladion's grip on my shoulders tightened slightly. 'And then...?'
I bit my lip, before placing my hand on his arm. 'I spent a year on my own, fending for myself. To be honest I kinda liked it, except for the fact I hardly had any money and usually had to feed on berries. Sometimes I even had to rely on stealing to make sure I had a decent meal. That is...' My teeth gripped onto my lip harder, drawing blood. 'Until Lusamine got her hands on me and made me her f*cking experiment...'
'And that's how you became Type:Null...'
I looked at Gladion and nodded, by now fresh tears were rolling down his already stained face. Seeing him cry tore at my heart, so I reached up to wipe them away.
'But then you saved me.' I smiled 'And we became partners. Making it all worth it.'
Gladion's eyes widened, and his hands brushed down from my shoulders to my upper arms while still keeping in contact with my skin. 'Y-You think I was worth it...?'
I nodded, holding his chin with my thumb and index 'Definitely.'
He smiled, pulling me into another hug which made me giggle.
'Wait Wait Wait!' Rose suddenly spoke up, scrunching up her nose in confusion. 'Experiment? Type:Null? Partners? What?!'
Oh that's right she doesn't know... Sh*t...
'Uhhhhhhhhh...' Gladion and I looked at each other. Man we screwed up.
I sighed and decided it was better to just show her. Besides, Lillie and Sun didn't know I had evolved yet. I let go of Gladion, and shuffled away from him slightly as he gave me a confused glance. Picturing Silvally in my mind, I felt my body shift and the dizziness I had now become familiar with. I opened my eyes, revealing to myself I had become the majestic Pokemon.
Rose's eyes widened in shock. So did Sun's and Lillie's but it was for a different reason. They all opened their mouths and yelled at the top of their lungs:
'WHAT THE HELL?!'
'Surprise?' I smiled awkwardly.
A/N: HOOOOLY HELL THE FEELS!!! I was literally crying while writing this ;-;
And it was really long... (Hehe, that's what she- *Slap* NO) 3176 words Omergerd!
Anyway I hope you enjoyed this chapter, even though it is pretty dark for Pokemon, and sorry for ending it at a cliffhanger.
So. How do you think Rose will react when Megan and Gladion tell her about the experiment? How do you think Sun and Lillie will react when they find out Megan can transform at will, and the fact she'd evolved since they saw her last? Let me know~
Also, I realised I'm more than halfway to getting 4K reads and I was wondering... Should I do a face reveal when I reach it?
One more thing. I put some more Megan x Gladion moments in here. Have fun~ ^3^
Okey I'm going now~
Bai Bai Cinnamon rolls, I'm gonna go play Seduce Me the Otome. (Damien's bae BTW)
I'm out!
~Silver

I drew dis :3
