Addison
Addison was disappointed to see the movie go. That meant he had to go back to dealing with the real world.
Yet nonetheless, he reluctantly followed Evan and his sister out of the theatre, where Okieriete was waiting.
"Come." He said, "The president wishes to speak with you."
Addison exchanged a look with his sister. This was beginning to just seem like an elaborate prank - that, or they starring in a new cheesy action movie, and just didn't know about it yet.
"Suuure." Amberley said, drawing out the syllable and giving her brother and oh -so -inconspicuous wink. Addison groaned internally at his dim witted sister as Okieriete gave the duo a strange look.
The twins followed their uncle through the large building which, frankly, didn't seem like much of a secret organization to them.
Sure, there were people typing away at computers in cubicles, speaking into their minuscule ear pieces, and yeah - they could see suspicious weapon art every other turn, and large windows that revealed heated arguments, but, in all honesty, it lacked that sci-fi factor you may find in most other underground secret spy organizations.
To the twins, it resembled your average, everyday office building.
If we really are in a movie, they sure as heck are working on a small budget - or they wasted it all on the M&M slide. He thought, as they passed through the crowded building.
But then he noticed something else that surely didn't make any sense - the windows. Or, more specifically, what was outside them. Images of the outside world, even though they were what Addison estimated to be approximately 1,000 feet underground. And not just images of Time Square, or even Manhattan - No, Addison noted as he took a closer look. Images of The Eiffel Tower, Tokyo, the White House, the Colosseum, London Bridge, and the Sydney Opera House blared on the walls outside the supposed 'windows', yet no one seemed to blink an eye.
"Enjoying the view?" A new voice spoke from above Addison, who simply nodded his head, unable to take his eyes away from the spectacular sight.
"How does it work?" He asked in wonder, finally looking up to see an Asian man, most likely in his mid forties, looking down at him. The man gave him a kind smile.
"If you look closely, you will see that behind the holographic image, there are several wires. These connect to thousands of computers in the back room, which play 24/7 surveillance all over the world, one placed in the estimated most commonly known location of each country." He explained to Addison, who soaked it all up quickly as he turned back to see The Great Wall of China up in his face.
"Fascinating." He murmured.
"I am the USHO President, Johnathan Lim." The president offered his hand to the wide eyed boy before him, a polite smile remained on his face.
Addison looked up, struggling to contain his shock that the president of USHO himself had spoken to him, and shook his grasp, praying that his hand wasn't sweaty.
"There you are, you stupid dunce!" Addison's face flushed red as he turned to see a familiar, white haired girl running his way, Okieriete not far behind her.
"Ah. And who might this...... Charming young lady be?" Johnathan's smile suddenly looked strained. Amberley looked to her brother, confused.
"Who's your friend?" She asked bluntly.
"Amberley, this is Johnathan Lim, president of the USHO." Addison introduced through gritted teeth. "Sir, this is my..... Dog sitter's cousin, once removed, Amberley."
"Twin." Okieriete corrected as he finally caught up, giving a quick nod to the president. "This is Addison's twin, Amberley." Johnathan's face brightened as he turned back to Addison.
"Ah, so you and your sister I am to met with." He smiled kindly. "Well don't be shy, follow me!"
The four sat around a large table in a conference room at the end of the hall. Johnathan and Okieriete were discussing private matters. Addison was doing his very best to eavesdrop on private matters while he picked at his finger nails. Amberley was eyeing a small dish of kit kats in the middle of table, as they hadn't eaten since lunch.
Finally, she couldn't take it anymore.
"So, I just want to make sure I'm clear on all this super hero stuff." She said, leaning forward as all eyes turned to her.
"You guys don't get capes?
"Well... no." The president replied.
"No movies?"
"Not any accurate ones..."
"Cool costumes and matching hair?"
"Wha-no!"
"Okay, okay.. yeesh... No superpowers?"
"Not any that you may be aware of yet."
"So basically, nothing?"
"Well, not counting the top notch computer hacking, military level weaponry, a free supply of dark green M&M's, and much more, than yes."
Amberley leaned back on her chair.
"Awesome."
"So how are we going to save mom and mom?" Addison leaned forward with anticipation. Okieriete smiled.
"We already have our best spies, tech pros, and super-" Amberley cut him off.
"I think Addison meant how are we-" Amberley pointed exaggeratedly between herself and her brother - "going to save our moms?" Addison frowned.
"That's not what I-" Amberley pressed her finger to her brothers mouth.
"Hush dear brother. You need not worry, the cool one has spoken for you." She reassured, and Addison let out a muffled scream in protest. The president frowned.
"Of course you're not. You're mere children. Amberley Knit her eyebrows, and suddenly nodded.
"I see. Let's step it up a notch, eh?" She smiled, and reached into her jacket pocket. Addison groaned internally, and placed his head into his hands as Amberley slowly started taking things out of her pocket. Poor Johnathan looked more confused than ever as Amberley took more things than should've been humanely possible out of her pocket.
"That's a Starbucks gift card-
"That's a lollipop wrapper-
"That's a Starbucks gift card-
"That's a stick of gum-
"That's a Starbucks gift card-
"Those are headphones-"Amberley quickly shoved those back into her pocket.
"That's another Starbucks - Where do you keep getting all these Starbucks gift cards?! Look, I understand your worries about Sienna and Kathryn, but what we are doing everything we can. If there isn't anything we can do, what is there two teenagers, one who's head has so much more to filled with, and another who's head I'm quite sure wasn't screwed on right?"
Lava bubbled down inside Addison's stomach. He wasn't just mad - he was angry. Pissed. Livid. Irate. He turned to see his sister wearing a look that mirrored his.
And with anger prominent on their faces, the siblings stood up and left without another word.
A/N: Hey guys!! Sorry for not updating, I've been low on inspiration and super busy :/. Quick question - should I make a cast? Yeah, I think I'm gonna. So that will published at some point this week or next, and then another Amberley chapter. ;)
Peace ✌️
