Please read my new story Champion if you enjoy my stories. Short :/ I had quite some writers block.

Braylee's POV:

I take a breath as I knock on the wood door, and wait for it to swing open. When it does, my dad's eyes widen in surprise, "B-Braylee!"

I hide my smug look, and smile, bringing fake tears to my eyes, "I'm home, they let me go."

He smiles, and pulls me into a tight hug.

Don't fall for it, it's just a trick.

He opens the door wider, and I walk in.

Am I really going to betray my dad for my kidnappers?

"Where's mom?"

He bites his lip, "I'm sorry, baby. Your mom passed away after you l-left..."

I almost fall for it, but I catch his mistakes.

1. Avoiding eye contact
2. Biting lip.
3. Stutter

He's lying.

I let the tears come to my eyes, my mom's dead.

And, he's lying to me about it. He's lying to me about my mom's death.

"How did she die?"

"She fell d-down some stairs."

Lies.
