Drabble Five
Okay so this'll probably be the last one, sorry about that. I might find some more, but probably not. So just assume that this is the last one. This is my sad attempt at writing dune, so here you go. Enjoy! Or at least try to. It's really horrible.
The air was cool as we walked around. We had never gone to Fresco before, so me and June took this time to go for a walk. We took Eden and Tess with us to Fresco, where me and June were going on vacation. We planned to go alone, but Eden wanted to go too. Also, I wasn't ready to leave him alone for a week. Tess ended up going too. I think it was June's idea, because I was surprised when I saw Tess at my apartment the morning we were leaving. So we all ended up going. Fresco was a small and old city up in the Rocky Mountains. It was chilly, rainy, and high (goddy altitude), but also beautiful. We have an amazing view from where we are staying, and from where we are walking. June shivers and zips up her jacket.
"It wasn't supposed to be this cold" she murmurs to me.
"Weather people aren't always right" I shrug, and put my hands in my pockets.
"Weather people?" June mocks. "
Yes, weather people" I smile at her.
"Meteorologists." she corrects. I roll my eyes at that.
"You always have to correct me" I shake my head and motion a fake tear rolling down my cheek.
"Not always..." June mutters and looks away, blushing.
I smirk and run into her. "Sure, let's go with that."
"Well the meteorologists should be right, It's their entire job." June goes back a few steps in our conversation.
"But cold is better than searing heat yeah?" I ask, steering clear of some cut flowers on the pavement.
"Yeah...Who cut this grass? They did a terrible job" June points at the crazily cut grass as we walk by.
"A moron" I reply, taking my hand out of my pockets to hold her hers.
"They cut the flowers too. They look like the state flower, which is illegal." she notes, glaring at the mess of grass and smashed purple petals.
We cross the street and get into the town area. It's small, with stone and wood buildings along two parallel streets. Lot's of people are out today, despite the weather. Most have dogs accompanying them. One elderly woman passes by with a dog identical to Ollie. I can feel June stiffen, and I squeeze her hand. I'm defiantly getting her an Ollie 2.0 for Christmas (which apparently is a holiday. Who knew?). June starts to walk faster, and I get dragged along before I can catch up.
"Hey are you okay?" I whisper into her ear.
"Yeah" She replied, staring straight ahead.
"You don't sound very sure"
"I'm fine. You're here, we're on vacation, and it's been going great" June smiles at me.
"Don't jinx it!" I joke, and stop walking to knock on a wooden bench. She laughs at me.
"Oh wow, it's almost 6:30" June mumbles, looking at her watch.
"Hmm, maybe we could eat out today" I say glances around at the restaurants nearby.
"Yeah?" June smiles at me.
"Yeah why not?" I start swinging our hands.
We come back late at night, and we have to be quiet not to wake anyone up (if they're asleep I mean). Me and June start walking to our bedroom, and I notice a blue light coming from the living room. They must have left the TV on. I turn to walk into the living room with June behind me. I glance over to the couch, where I notice Tess and Eden sitting, watching a late night talk show. I look closer and realize that Eden's arm is draped over Tess and his hand is playing with her hair. Tess turns around and sees us.
"Oh hey! You're alive!" She says smiling as if nothing strange is going on.
"Yes of course" June smiles back and tries to pull me to the stairs.
"Did you guys eat? We made hamburgers" Eden says turning around too.
I narrow my eyes and open my mouth to say something about the hand-hair-Tess subject, but June keeps pulling on my shirt. 'Leave it' she mouths.
"We ate at that soup place, it was really good" June says nodding.
"Good" Eden says, then turns back around to face the TV.
"How was your walk?" Tess asks looking at me.
"It was pretty nice. It stayed cool out" June answers for me, which is good because I probably can't trust myself.
"Well we're going to bed. Night!" June calls pushing me from the room.
"Night!" They both yell at the same time.
We climb up the stairs and June goes into the bathroom to brush her teeth and whatever it is that girls do. I just sit on the bed, and try to wrap my head around this.
"Are you going to be okay with this?" June asks from the bathroom after spitting out mouthwash.
"Honestly I don't know" I say back, flopping back on the bed. June joins me not long after, and we both scoot under the covers. She turns off the lamp and rolls over, so I scoot closer and kick her to get her attention. She turns around.
"Yes?" she says trying not to smile.
"I love you" I whisper in her ear.
She smiles.
"I love you too"
