Books? Done. Lunch? Done. Cellphone? Done.

Miles was mentally ticking off all the objects he needed before entering the class. He was already late and the last thing he needed was Darcy lecturing him on forgetting his belongings at home.

He chuckled at the thought, that crazy girl.

He entered the class, much to Madam Shelly's irritation. Once inside the class, he scanned the room thoroughly. He furrowed his brows as a series of questions ran through his brain.

Where's Darcy? She's never late. Oh my god, is she ill or something?

"Hey Miles, come sit with us. Your girlfriend is absent, you've got no choice," Tammy, the most popular guy in class, yelled.

Tammy and Miles grew up in the same area and had a brotherly relationship between them.

Miles sat beside Tammy, irritation finding its way to his face.

Miles POV

She's absent? What does it mean "she's absent"? She can't be absent, I mean she'll miss all the lessons and everything. And who's gonna help me in my studies?

Is it only studies you miss her for? the nagging voice in my head starts.

Yes it is. And what am I gonna do without her? I cant spend an entire day without her blabbering at my ear.

I was having a mental breakdown when a particularly nasty thought comes to my mind.

Am I getting that dependent on her? Like, cant I even spend a single day without her?

I shuddered at the thought.

Cool down Miles, its only because she's your best friend and you are used to her presence. The answer calms me down a bit.

But friends don't get this much desperate you know. Holy Shit, are you thinking of Darcy as "something more than friends"? Is it the L-word? Are you giving in to people's assumptions? Are you taking this friendship to a higher level?

I become momentarily numb at the thoughts.

"Dude you look like you are having a panic attack, calm down," Tammy chuckles.

"Maybe because I AM having a panic attack right now," I breathed, coming out of my own bubble of thoughts and concentrating on the lecture.
