Chapter Two
"...I got a lot to say to you
Yeah, I got a lot to say
I noticed your eyes are always glued to me
Keeping them here and it makes no sense at all..."
-Paramore, "crushcrushcrush"
Phil
The next time PJ throws another party, I'm going to go over to his house and complain myself.
Imagine trying to study for a trigonometry test with "Hit Me Baby One More Time" by Britney Spears being blasted on a shi-excuse me, CRAPPY speaker, teenagers vomiting, and two of those teenagers doing the frick frack in a bush. It's hard. And because of that, I'm going to fail this damn test today.
Okay, fine. I was slightly upset that I wasn't invited. Again. But it's mostly because of the studying. I swear.
I flipped through my notebook until I got to my Section 2 notes.
To put it simply, a trigonometric function is one of the many functions that relate one non-right angle of a right triangle to the ratio of the lengths of any two sides of the triangle or vice versa.
Therefore, any trigonometric function, ( represented by (f)), always satisfies one of the following two equations:
f(q) = a / b OR f(a / b) = q
I put my head in my hands. There was no damn way I was going to be able to grasp all these concepts within the next fifteen minutes. I'm so screwed. I'm so, so screwed.

Right as I was shutting my notebook, I was startled by the sudden sound of textbooks hitting hard linoleum.
"Oh shit! Sorry about that dude!" A boy with brown hair and chocolate brown eyes bent down to pick up his textbooks. "I don't reckon I know you," he said, looking me in the eye. "What's your name?"
"Oh! Um, it's Phil. My name."
"Right...well, I don't know why I haven't seen you around before. I know pretty much everyone." The boy held out his hand. "My name is Dan."
"Phil," I said taking his hand. "Wait, I already said that."
Dan laughed. "Well, I guess I'll see you around, Phil."
As Dan walked out of the room, I just sat there like an idiot. Why the hell did I say that? Why the hell do I care?
***
Well, that was a disaster. I completely bombed that test.
I mean, I probably could have passed. I had the time. but instead of using the last ten minutes before the test to look over my notes, I was...cleaning out my pencil bag.
"Hey, Phil!" Dan tapped on my shoulder and ran to catch up with me. "How was trigonometry?"
"I failed that test," I muttered. "I needed that grade."
"Don't beat yourself up over it, dude. You'll be able to make it up."
"No I won't. I'm absolutely awful at trig. And the constant parties being thrown by my house makes it impossible to study. Hell, there was even a Mercedes-Benz in my yard last night!"
Dan froze for a moment.
"Oh, I'm sorry! Did I say something wrong? Oh shoot, I'm really sorry Dan! I didn't-"
"Phil, it's okay. I was just thinking about how, um, the car in your yard? That was mine."
Oops.
"Well, um, yikes...um, I was going to offer to help you with studying for trigonometry but I don't know if you want to now. Whoops. Sorry about that dude."
"Dan, I'm not an idiot. I need the help, and I'm taking it." I didn't take the time to mention the fact that this was the closest I've gotten to having a friend and talking to them at school in at least two years.
"After school tomorrow, then?"
"Yeah, that sounds alright."
"Hey, I'm really sorry about parking my car in your ya-"
"Dan, it's fine. I'm not actually all that mad about it. I was just looking for an excuse to complain about something so I used that."
"You sure?"
"Yeah."
Dan just stood there, looking at the ground. "Phil, your grade isn't going to suffer. I'll help you out with that."
"Thanks mate," I replied with a smile.
A/N-Hey, dudes! Sorry it took me so long to get around to finishing this. School started and I have band practice and I'm tired and I can't write and this is written really poorly and I'm just a;odishfaisdihfak;dsjf;alksdjf
Also, it's worth noting that I am not British. I am American. And I don't know how the schooling system in England works because England isn't my city ( I'm sorry ) and I know all the British people are gonna be yelling at me saying "thAT'S NOT HOW IT WORKS HERE!!!!!!!!!1!!111!!!!!!!!1!!" and I'm sorry I'm trying my best please leave me alone
My writing skills will improve as the story goes on, so please bear with me for now. Hey, at least I can use proper grammar. Thank you all and I'll be back soon ( hopefully ).
