Hours had passed since Danny walked out of the school, he wouldn't come out of his room and the teens were worried. Barbara, Artemis, and Richard eventually had to go home despite how much they didn't want to. Isabella and Lucas waited for their parents to get home and when they walked in with Emma and Liam they immediately took them into the kitchen.

Emma and Liam always went straight to the living room to watch TV so they wouldn't follow them in. Isabella spoke, "Mom, dad, something happened with Danny."

Mary looked worried, "What happened, is he okay?"

Lucas quickly answered, "He's fine, I mean there was a fight at school and he was bleeding but he's okay."

Isabella cut him off, "But that's not the problem, Danny walked out of the school at lunch and we tried to follow him but he disappeared. We decided to see if he came back home and he did but he didn't hear us come into his room and his door wasn't locked, he had scars mom."

John and Mary looked at each other, John looked at them seriously, "What do you mean scars?"

Lucas spoke, "A lot of scars, his arms were covered in them and there were ones that looked like wings on his back."

Mary looked confused, "Wings?"

Isabella nodded, "They covered most of his back, we don't even know what other scars he might have had because he yelled at us to leave."

John and Mary gave each other worried looks, John spoke, "I'm going to make a call, Mary, can you check on Danny?"

Mary nodded and John took out his phone as he walked outside and dialed a number as quickly as he could. Mary went upstairs and took a deep breath when she reached Danny's door before knocking, "Danny, it's Mary, are you okay?"

"Go away."

"Danny-."

She was cut off when Danny threw something at the door, "Go away!"

Mary wasn't sure what she should do, Danny was probably going through a lot but he wouldn't let anyone help. In the end she left him alone and saw John walk back in from outside, John looked at her, "I called Danny's case worker, he said we could talk to him tomorrow morning."

Mary nodded, "Danny wouldn't talk to me, I don't think he's doing well."

John sighed and rubbed his eyes, "We can't help if he won't let us, but we've done this four times and I'm sure Danny will let us in when he's ready."

Mary looked up the stairs, "I hope you're right."

Meanwhile, after Richard and Artemis got to their respective homes they put on their costumes and went to the mountain. Robin got there not long after Artemis and she was there waiting for him, Robin spoke, "Did Izzy tell you what's going on?"

Artemis nodded, "Their parents came home and they're going to talk to Danny's case worker tomorrow. Their parents didn't know anything about the scars and Danny's not talking to anyone, except to tell them to go away."

Robin looked worried and he looked at the ground, "I guess we know why he's so angry all the time now."

Artemis looked down too, "Yeah, and we don't even know the story behind it."

They then heard a voice behind them, "The story behind what?"

It was the rest of the team, they had been late getting to the mountain but they hadn't expected all of them to be there yet. Robin answered, "Nothing, just school stuff."

Kid Flash groaned, "School is the worst, just forget about it."

Artemis looked like she was going to say something but one look from Robin stopped her, they didn't want to get the team involved. Danny obviously didn't want anyone to know and getting people that were strangers to him involved wouldn't help. Isabella sent updates every so often to let Artemis know what was happening with Danny.

Danny yelled at everyone to leave him alone, aside from the twins to which he said he didn't feel well. He refused to come out to eat or do anything else, no one knew what to do and Robin was worried. Artemis told him when she got a text and everyone but the twins were worried, even Danny didn't say anything to make them worry.

Artemis and Robin couldn't focus, they knew they weren't going to be of much help in any situation so they decided to go home. Robin got permission from Batman to let Artemis go to the mansion after a lot of convincing. Danny stopped talking to anyone after about eight o'clock or so and they decided to leave Danny alone, for now.

Meanwhile, Danny had gotten fed up with everything going on, anything would be better at the moment. He left through the window and went to the government base, he'd gotten there earlier then normal. He was glad he did because from the looks of it there were more guards, they were tightening security for when the thing they were transporting got there.

Danny wrote everything down, a few of his possible entry points were out of the question now but he could still get in. He stayed later then normal to figure out their patrol routes, shift changes, and any possible wild cards. He left around two or three in the morning and went back to the foster home, not like he had any where else to stay.

He was tired, after everything that had been going on and how much energy being angry took he was ready to sleep. The next morning he didn't want to go to school and no one tried to make him, Liam and Emma thought he was still sick. Isabella wanted to try and get him to go but John said it would be better to give him some time to think without anyone in the house.

Isabella took Mary aside as they were getting ready to leave, "I want to be there when you talk to Danny's case worker."

Mary looked distraught, "Izzy-."

Isabella cut Mary off, "Mom, if I know what's going on I can help Danny, and I'm worried about him."

Lucas walked in and he was confused, "What's going on?"

Isabella looked at him, "I want to go with mom and dad to talk to Danny's case worker."

Lucas looked from her to Mary, "Mom, I want to go too, we can help him at school."

Mary looked at both of them and eventually sighed, "If John agrees you can go."

They both smiled a little and Mary went to talk to John, Isabella and Lucas waited for a few minutes. Isabella sent Artemis a text explaining what was going on and their parents eventually came back into the room. John spoke, "You two can go but if we tell you that you have to wait outside you won't argue, okay?"

Isabella and Lucas nodded, they left the house and dropped off Emma and Liam at their middle school. After dropping them off they went to see Danny's case worker at his office, when they got there Rick greeted them. Rick smiled, "Mr and Mrs. Colin, and their two oldest kids, over the phone you said you had some questions?"

John nodded, "It's about Danny."

"I was kind of expecting that, let's step into my office."

They all followed Rick and sat down in his office, Rick closed the door and started going through a filing cabinet. "I have to say I was a little surprised when you called, did something happen?"

Almost all of them looked uncomfortable and Mary spoke, "Danny has scars."

Rick paused for a second, "Oh, I'm sorry to hear that." Rick took Danny's file out of the cabinet and closed it before sitting at his desk, "So what do you want to know?"

Isabella was getting impatient, "We want to know how Danny got the scars."

Mary gave Isabella a stern look, "Izzy..."

Rick looked at Mary, "It's okay, she just wants to know what's going on." Rick opened Danny's file, the first page was basic information, part of his history and Danny's photo. Rick briefly looked through Danny's history and his expression changed to a grim one, "Oh."

Lucas sat up straighter, "What?"

"Well, um, Danny was actually missing for about seven years, he actually disappeared when he was four. He was found here in Gotham when he was eleven and brought to the hospital, he woke up enroute to the hospital. He was hostile toward anyone that got within six feet of him and no one knows what happened during that time."

Rick flipped to the next page, "And somehow it gets worse, he was sent to an orphanage after that. He stayed there for two years before running away and the police went to investigate, no one was picking up so the officers made a surprise visit. When they arrived they found out the kids were malnourished and being neglected by the orphanage staff."

"They called for backup and a thorough search revealed a basement, um, I'll just say it wasn't good. None of the kids were too abused but the kids said Danny was, none of them knew what happened when he was taken to the basement. After that Danny ran away from every place he was taken to within three or four days of getting there."

"Each place was searched and the kids were abused in some way, Danny hasn't been back to Gotham since the first orphanage until now."

They were all quiet until Isabella spoke, "So he got the scars when he went missing?"

Rick shrugged, "Or from the orphanage, but either way that kid has been through a lot."

Mary stood up, "I need a minute."

Mary left the room and John followed her out, Lucas looked at Rick, "Is Danny going to be okay?"

"Honestly, I don't think anyone would be okay after that, but who knows."
