Lightpaw padded to the moonpool, the beautiful rays stunning her as the water lapped at her paws.

"This is my new apprentice, Lightpaw," Petalflower announced. She nodded to the gray tom, introducing him as Grayfur, the medicine cat of ShadowClan. The white she-cat was the medicine cat of RiverClan, Echodream, and the black tom as Finchsong, of WindClan.

Grayfur shot her a friendly smile.

As soon as Petalflower turned around, Echodream wrinkled her nose at her and Finchsong rolled his eyes.

Grayfur lightly pawed them, and the two medicine cats at least TRIED to smile. Theirs were lopsided and more like a smirk, like a dog's.

When Petalflower turned back, she nodded to the others. "Should we begin?"

They nodded in unison, and Lightpaw licked up a few drops of water and shivering-not only from the cold, but also from the fact that medicine cats detested her as well.
