Attack
Kylo Ren's pov
The scavenger just stood there staring at me in disbelief. I was disappointed in my wonderful grandfather for giving me this revelation only now, and not years ago before I plunged myself too deep. I want her to quit looking at me with such shock. I'm absolutely positive that can't come back to the light, but that doesn't mean that I can't assist them.
"Quit looking at me like that, would ya?" I spit.
She jumps and turns as the door behind her flies open and two people which I haven't seen for years stroll in.
"Ben!" my mom exclaims, but staying a good five feet away.
I scowl causing her smile to falter. "Just because I want to help doesn't mean I'm back to your prissy, no good son."
She nods sadly, but with understanding in her eyes.
"Alright, Kylo Ren, but I will always see you as the little boy who played tag around the house with his da-"
"Stop." I interrupted, tears filling my eyes although I fight them. "Please stop. I wasn't kidding when I told da-"I stop and take a deep breath, then continue. "Han Solo that I killed his son. There's nothing left of that innocent boy. He's been replaced with a monster. But that doesn't mean that the creature who wears the mask can't help."
She solemnly nodded. "I know. I just want you to know that-" she took a deep breath and slightly smiled. "-I forgive you."
"Please don't." I whispered, and a tear escaped my eye.
Ignoring me, she took a step forward and wiped it away. "I can't promise you that."
"I know."
"But I will try, as long as you promise me one thing."
"It depends."
"Train with Luke."
My eyes narrowed. "No."
"Why."
"Ben is dead."
"So?" She asked.
"Ben was the light, Kylo Ren is the dark. There is not the tiniest bit of light left in me." I lied.
She smiled knowingly seeing strait through me. "Oh, I believe there is."
"Show me what you've got." Luke said to me, half an hour later, tossing me a tree branch roughly the length of a lightsaber.
"You know I'll kick your butt, old man." I taunted, removing my thick black coat and placing it at the base of a tree. They'd given me back my clothing from the First Order, apparently Luke thought that it would help get me 'into the mood'. Somehow, Mom had been able to guilt-trip me into agreeing to train with Luke, are all mothers that way? Soon after, Luke had came and taken me to the place where we are now, a secluded meadow in the middle of the forest, but not before blindfolding me.
"I'll bet even your little trainee was able to beat you." I added to the taunt, gesturing at Rey.
"Well seeing how I beat you, Luke can't be that bad." Rey retorted. She was sitting up in the top of a tree she had climbed, just on the edge of the clearing, to watch our exchange.
"That wasn't a fair fight." I grumbled, and shifted the stick from one hand to the other.
"Sure it wasn't." She said mockingly.
"Whenever you're ready." I said loudly, ignoring the woman in the tree.
He smiled at me "For the record, she hasn't beat me yet." and swung his branch. I reacted quickly, instinctively, not with the stick, but with the force and sent him flying into the base of a tree.
"Luke!" Rey yelled, and leapt from her perch, using the force to cushion her landing. "Are you alright?" she asked, kneeling down at his side.
"Ya, I'm fine." He grumbled, and pushed himself to his feet. He pushed past Rey, scooped up his stick, and came to stand in front of me again. "New rule: no force using yet."
"Fine." I swung at him and he dodged. We set off on an exchange as we slowly moved around the clearing, parring and thrusting. I finally, however, did win, smacking my branch into the old man's stomach causing a humph of breath.
"Nice. . .match." He said between heavy breaths.
I myself was damp with sweat, but not utterly exhausted, unlike the out of shape old man.
"Let's go back." Rey said, jumping out of her tree again and wrapping the blindfold around my head. "I'm starving! Ew, you're sweaty."
