Shade
"Gaano ka na katagal
hindi nakakakita?" he asked.
"Hmm, almost 5 years.
Sucks, right?" she said,
laughing bitterly.
"Atleast, hindi mo
nakikita kung gaano
kalala ang nangyayari
ngayon sa mundo," he
honestly said while looking
directly at her angelic face.
She pouted. "Eh, hindi
naman kita nakikita."
He laughed. "Eh 'di,
kunin mo ang isang mata ko."
"Gags! Creepy nun!
I'd rather wait and take
medications until I can
see with my own eyes."
"Ayaw mo talaga?
Seryoso kaya ako!"
"Huwag," she said
while smiling.
"Para sabay nating
tingnan ang kalangitan."
Little did she know,
he was always staring
at her dearly.
Like, he's memorizing
every inch of her face.
"I can't wait for you
to see again," he whispered.
She moved her
head as her hair flew
with the wind.
But strands of her
hair blocked her face,
making her laugh.
"Sa susunod talaga,
magtatali na ako!"
She also cursed the
wind silently.
But he, he thanked the
wind silently.
Because he can do
this.
"Akin na nga
mukha mo!"
With trembling hands,
he held her face gently.
He even bit his lower
lips when he felt something
sparkling under his skin.
Her cheeks were soft like
marshmallows and
her eyes innocently
looking everywhere,
making her the most
beautiful girl he ever saw.
"Ayan, mukha kang
gangstah," he said after
he tied his handkerchief
into a headband.
"Talaga? Kunan mo
nga ako ng litrato."
She held her face,
emphasizing her
chubby cheeks.
He immediately gets
his phone. And
took pictures of her
while hiding his smile.
"Pakita mo 'yan sa
akin soon, ha?"
He nodded.
"Where's your shoulder?"
"Here," he said
after placing her
hand on his shoulder.
"Okay."
She gently leaned to
rest her head on his
shoulder. He stilled,
realizing how close
they are right now.
"Anong oras na?"
"It's already 6:12 PM."
She nodded.
"What does the
nightfall look like?"
she asked.
Instead of answering,
he just stared at her face,
kissed by the light of the
lilac sky.
