"Do you think the foreign students are taking classes still?" I asked as I fiddled with the sleeves of the sweater I was wearing and Lana searched through her trunk for the jacket she had borrowed from me.
"Probably," she said standing up and throwing the jacket at me. I pulled it on before grabbing my scarf and the hat off my chair. "They're probably using an empty classroom or something."
"That makes sense." We headed down the stairs, ready for our trip to Hogsmeade. "What subjects do you think they take?"
Lana shrugged. "Probably similar subjects to us."
"You know that makes sense." We stopped behind a group of fourth years giggling to each other. "I guess this makes you the smart one here."
The line to get past Filch and actually go down to Hogsmeade seemed to take double the amount of time. It was cold out, even for early November, and I pulled my cloak and sweater tighter around me.
"Where to first?" Lana asked rubbing her hands together.
"Three Broomsticks?" I suggested hopefully.
"Oh thank Godric," she breathed. "I am so hungry!"
"That's because you skipped breakfast."
"Not my fault," she muttered as I held the door to the pub open for her. She entered and I watched her make a beeline for the twins and Lee.
"Hullo gentlemen," she said sliding into the booth next to Lee. I nabbed a chair from an empty table near by and settled into it, taking off my cloak and resting my head in my hand.
"Ladies," Lee said and the twins nodded to both of us. Neither of them really looked up but then Fred's head shot back up.
"Isn't that my hat and sweater?" he asked quietly, a small grin on his face as he knocked my knee with his. "I was wondering where those wound up."
I looked down and winched slightly. "Right sorry. Meant to give them back, totally did."
"No, no, it's fine."
"Really?"
"Yeah, yeah."
"Because I can totally give them back at any ti-"
"It's fine June. I promise." His grin grew, lopsided and all before he was distracted by George.
"You done there?" Lana asked, smirking over at me. "Cause I'm hungry."
I rolled my eyes, but went up with her as she ordered her food and we both got a Butterbeer.
"Someone'll be over in a sec with your food," Madam Rosmerta said as she slid them their butterbeers before grabbing to more mugs and a bottle of Firewhiskey. "Drinks should be warm."
"Thank you," Lana said skipping back over to where we were sitting. I tried to follow, weaving through the tables and chairs, only to be cut off my a group of students, almost tripping and spilling my drink on one of them.
"Oh blo-I'm so sorry," I cried, looking down at my drink to make sure it wasn't going to spill. The guy reached out a hand to steady me before letting go.
"Is no problem," he said. When I looked up he was looking down at himself, as if checking to make sure he hadn't been hit with my butterbeer, so all I really saw was the light brown hair on top of his head. "No 'arm done."
"Right. Still, sorry." His friends were all gone and with no harm done, as he put it, I went to edge around him right as he looked up. There was a pause as I met his eyes, a shocking of dark green with tired circles under them, and then he quickly stuck out a hand.
"Oi'm Terence," he said and I shook his hand. "Terence Higgs."
"Juniper." I returned his grin.
"Juniper? That's an-"
"Silly name? Yeah, I know."
"Oi! I was gonna say interestin' name not silly. Oi rather like it actually."
"I'm named after a bush or shrub or tree or something."
"Even better!"
"I'm like ninety percent sure they use the berries to make gin."
"My favorite drink."
I raised an eyebrow at him. "Now you're just saying things."
"No 'onestly, it's my favorite drink."
"Gin is nobody's favorite drink."
"Okay, so maybe it's tied with pumpkin juice, but they're similar enough ri?" His grin grew bigger as I let out a laugh. "Anyway, my mates are wavin' me over so I suppose I should go on."
He frowned behind me.
"It was nice talking to you."
"Hopefully we can talk again soon? Oi would love to continue this rivetin' discussion an' figure out why you think nobody likes gin."
"I said it was nobody's favorite, not that nobody liked it," I reminded him through a small laugh.
"Right, roi, of course," He said, glancing behind me again.
"I'll see you soon."
"I 'ope so."
I headed over to my friends, who were almost all staring at me with raised eyebrows.
"What was that?" Lana asked, now squished between Lee and Ron.
"Nothing, nothing," I said resisting the urge to look over my shoulder.
She leaned closer, pushing Ron back slightly. "He's looking over at you."
"He isn't."
"He definitely keeps glancing over here," Lee said with a nod.
"Who even is he?" George asked, mimicking Lana by resting her head on his hand and leaning closer to me.
"Terence Higgs."
Fred finally looked up, his lips pursed and face drawn down in a frown. "The Slytherin?"
I shrugged. "I guess."
"What did he want?"
"To talk, I guess."
"What was he doing talking to you?"
I blinked at Fred, slightly angered at the way he made it sound. Like I was too disgusting to talk to or something.
"That was more than talking," Lana said and Lee finished, "that was flirting."
"He was being nice," I said waving a hand and chugging half my drink in on gulp.
"Uh huh," George said. "Real nice that one was being."
"He was sweet." This time I tried to hide behind my mug, keeping it at face level and studying the foam on top.
"Uh huh, he's looking over here again." Lana had long since finished her butterbeer and most of her food. "Now one of his friends is laughing and punching his shoulder."
"Lana," Fred said, looking very annoyed and I downed the rest of the butterbeer. "Didn't you say you two wanted to go shopping as well today?"
Lana and I both glanced at the window next to door before shrugging. "It looks a bit too cold to leave right now. Plus I wouldn't want to deprive Mr. Higgs the joy of seeing the back of Juniper's head a little longer."
"Are you sure you two didn't have to leave or something?"
"Nope."
"Seri-
I rolled my eyes. "If you want us to go all you had to do was say so Weasley." I stood up, setting my empty mug in front of Fred and Ron. Lana almost immediately began pushing at Ron so she could get out. "I'm heading out anyway. I think Katie's almost done with her date."
"Plus we might be able to catch up with Angelina and Alicia," Lana supplied as she stumbled from the booth.
"Right." I gathered up my cloak, pulling it and the rest of my cold weather gear on. Except the hat. I tossed the hat lightly at Fred, who was sulking in his seat. "Here's your hat back."
He looked like he would've protested had Lana and I not said our goodbyes and headed out of the pub.
"Well that sure was interesting," Lana said as we headed across the small village to some wizarding shops.
"Interesting?" I said yanking a hand through my hair. I was really kinda wishing I hadn't given Fred back his hat when a fresh gust swooped by, bringing some dead leaves with them. "Fred was being rude."
"He was being jealous," Lana said, suddenly pulling me into a small boutique where over in a corner, Angelina and Alicia were looking at some shelves of something or another.
"Jealous? What's he got to be jealous of?"
"Well, you were flirting with a cute boy. Who I'm pretty sure was a seventh year."
"June was flirting with a cute boy?" Alicia said putting down the hat she had been inspecting and whirling to face us. "Okay that sounds more interesting than anything I've done today."
"I hardly doubt Fred Weasley counts as a cute boy," Angelina said rolling her eyes. "Nor does his twin."
"I never flirt with the twins!" I glared at my three friends. In return, Angelina rolled her eyes again, Alicia raised an eyebrow, and Lana crossed her arms over her chest. "What? I don't! And anyway she wasn't talking about them. She was talking about a seventh year! Did you not just hear her say that?"
"I said I was pretty sure he was a seventh year; I'm not entirely sure."
"Okay, well who was it?" Alicia asked, bouncing forward on her toes in excitement.
"Terence Higgs," I muttered looking down at a trinket on the shelf.
"Wait the Slytherin?" I nodded. "Yeah, I think he is a seventh year."
"He was seeker until Malfoy took over," Angelina supplied, "I think he might've been moved to beater? Or chaser?"
"It was beater," Alicia sais, tapping a finger on her chin. "I remember because Katie and I used to have a thing for beaters so we'd always talking about the different guy beaters. He was definitely high up there on our list."
"Wait, and he flirted with you?"
"Yep," Lana grinned over at me. "And Fred got extremely jealous."
"He didn't get jealous!"
"Uh huh, okay sure whatever you say darling." I reached out to wack Lana as she made a kissy face in my direction and ducked away, laughing as I followed her out of the store. "We'll see you at dinner later tonight girls!"

Question: What is your favorite summer/school break activity to do? I've enjoyed swimming and boating a lot recently and kayaking is always fun (even if you get a huge bruise). Ice cream and Netflix in the cool basement is probably the best though lol.
