"Juniper!" Someone shouted shaking me. I let out a groan and tried to swat them away, but instead found myself being pulled up and pushed. I opened my eyes to see my sister, Jane, pushing me toward the door, her eyes frantic.
"What the-"
"Death Eaters," she said, interrupting me. Immediately, I straightened and accepted the jacket she was handing me, snatching my wand from beside my bed. Out near the front door, almost everybody else had gathered. Ellie was nervously clutching a sleeping Grace, whom she had probably slipped a bit of sleeping draught to, and Maggie stood next to her confused muggle boyfriend, David.
"Should we just wait it out? Maybe they'll-" a crash interrupted David and he winched.
"Where's James and Devon?" I asked and Jane shook her head, a frown gracing her lips.
"James went out there to see what was going on and Devon went after him," she whispered. "They're probably fighting."
I nodded just as Devon slid into the tent. Dust and ash coated her body and she was out of breath. "They need to get out of here. We all need to get out of here."
Jane nodded. "There should be a portkey in the woods-"
"No we need to apparate," Devon said. "They're everywhere. We wouldn't make it to the woods." She nodded at David, who was wringing his hands.
"Okay," Jane nodded. "Think you can do it Maggie? Ellie?"
They both nodded. "Then go!"
Maggie grabbed David's hand and in seconds they were gone. Ellie looked like she was just about to go when someone stumbled into the tent and knocked into her. The person was wearing a long cloak and a white mask-a death eater. In an instant we all had our wands pointed at him, but I didn't have time to focus on him. Ellie had handed me Grace and pushed me towards the back where a back entrance to the tent sat. I stumbled toward it, with Ellie in tow, and pushed out the door.
It was eerily empty back there, although I could hear the noise and see the lights from the front. Ellie was pushing me towards the woods, yelling something at me as we ran among the frantic people, darting around. "I can't apparate with you both! We need to get to the Portkey."
"Take her home!" I shouted trying to thrust Grace at her. She only shook her head.
We managed to make it to the woods, only meeting one Death Eater along the way (who Ellie quickly shot a spell at), and were following several other people to a portkey when someone ran into me, knocking me off balance.
"Williams!" A relieved voice said, quickly steadying me.
"Weasley?" I said turning to see the twins and short, redheaded girl with them. Ellie tugged at my arm trying to get me to follow her. I tugged at the twin closest to me and started jogging with Ellie again. "There's a portkey this way."
"We know, Lana and her sister were heading that way," he said and I let out a sigh of relief that they were safe. "We lost Ron and his friends though. We have to go back and find them."
"They'll be fine!" I shouted back as I spotted a portkey and took a sharp left. "They have dumb luck and each other."
They shook their heads and I shoved Grace into Ellie's arms, grabbing one hand from each of them.
"All three Weasley's on?" I said once I had slapped their hands on. They were protesting and pulling away and I slapped them back down. "If you're staying then so am I."
They slowly put their hands back on the portkey and I watched as Ellie finally get Grace to put a hand on it, clamping her own hand down on top so she wouldn't let go. A nervous witch pulled out her wand and pointed it at the portkey, so it would leave ahead of schedule. It was just about to take off when I saw the twins pulls away and quickly I yanked my own hand away as the Portkey took off without us.
"Bloody hell, you two are twits," I mumbled glaring at them. They weren't paying me any mind though as they stared up at the sky. "What are you two dumbarses staring at?"
"You didn't have to stay."
"You really shouldn't have stayed."
"Did you really think I was gonna leave you two all alone?" I said following their gaze. I stopped when I saw the dark mark floating in the sky. "Bloody hell. What the-"
Shouting came from our left and we inched toward it, hiding behind trees. Ginny had also managed to stay behind and the twins tugged her after us.
"Maybe we can get back to the tent?" Ginny said pointing in the direction that lead back to the campground. It wasn't that far from where we were. "Dad's bound to be there."
George nodded and grabbed Ginny's arm. We all had our wands out and ready as we crept back. A shadow moved behind a tree and both Fred and I whipped towards it, only to see a redhead stepping out from behind it.
"Bill," Fred said lowering his wand slowly. "Is it safe to head back to the tent?"
"Yeah. Come on," he said and we all made our way back to the Weasley tent. Almost immediately upon entering the tent, I collapsed onto the couch and let my head fall back.
Ginny sat down next to me. "Bloody hell," I said before jumping back up. "I gotta get back to my own tent."
"Oh no," Bill said and Fred pushed me back down. "You're not going back out there till dad gets back--Who even are you?"
"Juniper Jones at your service," I said jumping back up and sticking out a hand. He didn't take it. "I'm in the twins year. And my older siblings went to school with Charlie."
Charlie nodded in conformation.
"Now can I go back to my tent?" I asked crossing my arms over my chest. I glanced at the door, wondering if I could just make a dash for it.
"I found them," Mr. Weasley chose that moment to come into the tent with Harry, Hermione, and Ron following. "You all go to bed; I'm going to go back out with the rest of the Ministry."
He left and I went to follow suit. Bill started to protest, but Charlie held up a hand. "I'll go with her."
In the end, both Fred and Charlie came. George made some excuse about being to tired from our adventure and smiled as he stretched and let out a fake yawn.
"I've never seen a more fake yawn you lazy git," I said with a laugh as I followed Charlie out. Fred fell into a step beside me. "I'm this way. I hope Jane is still there. I guess even if she isn't James will be. He was out helping the Ministry, but Jane was supposed to Apparate me out of here. Death Eaters came in before she could though, so yeah I'm still here."
We reached my tent in record time -probably because Charlie was tired of my mindless chatter- and carefully went in. Devon was the only one there, waving her wand to clean up the mess.
"Merlin," I said and Devon quickly whirled, pointing her wand at me. She dropped it when she saw who it was.
"Bloody hell Juni," she said. "Nearly gave me a bloody heart attack."
I shrugged.
"James and Jane are out looking for you. I said I'd stay in case you came back. They should be back soon though. Did Ellie and Grace get away?"
At the mention of Ellie, Charlie perked up. "Ellie?"
"Yeah," I said as Devon squinted her eyes at Charlie. "They apparated out. I let go before she took off. You remember Charlie right Devon? From Hogwarts?"
"Charlie Weasley," Devon let out an angry sigh. "Nerve of you to show up here when you nev-"
"Devon!" Jane shouted. She must have entered just a minute ago and seen her friend fuming. James walked over and wrapped an arm around her. "It's not his fault, you know that."
"What's not my fault?" Charlie asked and Jane glanced at him.
"Nothing," she said quickly looking away. "I think you should go though. I'll tell Ellie you said hi."
"Bye Weasley," I said with a wave. Fred waved back and the two of them left. "He doesn't know about Grace does he?"
"No, and Ellie wants it to remain that way," Jane said waving her wand. "I don't agree with it, but I'm her friend so I have to respect it.
