Canada watched the strange wolf warily. Is she an enemy? She wondered, sniffing the air. Then she noticed the female raise her tail in greeting making Canada give a breath of relief. Her mate seemed to notice the friendly gesture as well, because his muscles loosened a bit.
" Sure is a bad storm, isn't it?" The female stated. She was just a few years older than Canada and was gray with a red ticked coat.
" Anyways, you seem like you need warm shelter. So please follow me."
Solaris stood defensively in front of Canada. "Wait, we don't know you. It would be foolish to trust a wolf we don't know."
"Right. I'm Elemental." Elemental chuckled, glancing up at the sky, the snow still beating down on the wolves. "It appears its a risk you'll have to make, huh?"
Solaris grumbled something inaudible under his breath before he huffed. "Fine. It seems as if I'm trapped between weak ice and a herd of musk ox."
Elemental turned and trotted ahead. "You'll have to keep up. Moving slow in this weather wouldn't be a wise choice."
Canada and her mate stumbled through the deep snow after the stranger. "You don't seem like you're from around here." The white wolf mused.
"Correct. I am quite a traveler, I come from the desert." Elemental bowed, chuckling softly. "You sure are an observant one."
" Wow, that sure is a long ways from here!" Solaris breathed, his amber eyes widened in surprise.
"Indeed it is!" Elemental agreed with a chuckle. " It takes a lot of endurance for a desert wolf to survive out here."
There's something she isn't telling us... Canada thought, suddenly she noticed the desert wolf halt. "Ah, here we are!" She sighed, a smile crossing her muzzle that Canada now realized bore many scars. She seems like a strong opponent.
A bare tree sat above the earth, a hole was dug under the roots and some rocks were placed in front of the den to keep snow out. There was a gap big enough for a wolf to crawl through. "I sometimes have company of other creatures such as sly ones, old world wolves and sharp-eyes even."
Canada held a bit of respect to the sly ones due to they were a close relative to the old world wolves and an old world wolf had raised her and her siblings. The old world wolf had always told her 'Never judge one by species instead judge one by character ' and Canada held those words close to her heart and it appears Elemental shared that mindset.
"What are you writing for? Come in!" Elemental called from the warmth and safety of her den. Canada received a nudge from her mate, causing her to drop into the den though the drop wasn't high enough to hurt her. She got to her paws, moving out of the way and giving herself a shake.
Solaris jumped into the den, wearing a smirk and holding back a laugh. " Sorry but you have to admit you were asking for it. "
Canada opened her mouth, about to argue when something caught her eye. She turned her head a clear container was sat on a branch. A quick blue light swirled around madly in its prison. "What - " She trailed off in wonder, her gaze locked on the strange blue light in the container.
Her mate finished her sentence. " What...What is it?" He mused, his head tilted in curiosity at the object.
"That is an aura called Speed Boost. I'm kinda known as a witch among wolves..." Elemental explained. "Part of the reason no climate really effects me." She added thoughtfully.
" A witch? " Canada's expression hinted confusion at the new word before sharing a glance at her mate as if he had the answer. He shrugged, equally as stunned as she was.
" Someone or something that invests their time in spellcasting. It's really nothing special really. As for spells, all the things in the jars..er containers.. are spells. Any questions?"
" What are you using these for? " Solaris squinted his amber eyes at Elemental who blinked in response, giving a nod, she got her paws.
" Many years ago, my great great great great great grandmother passed down a prophecy to her granddaughter that she had received from fallen wolf ancestors, the prophecy is ancient more so than time itself. " The desert wolf was pacing around the den as she told the story.
" That said prophecy states...", she took a deep breath before she continued,
“
There will be two sides. Red of the Forest and Blue of the Tundra. Not one will ever back down and neither will show a bit of weakness toward the other. There will be times one would win and other times where they will lose. For this is the way of the wolf. ”
Canada tilted her head as she tried to make out the prophecy's meaning. She glanced at her mate. Solaris's bold amber eyes were clouded in deep thought.
“ We could help you find them. ” She offered. “ I recently left my pack after taking the lone wolf pledge. Solaris and I wouldn't mind lending a paw to a wolf in need. ”
“ What is your name? I neglected to ask earlier.” Elemental stepped forward so she was merely an inch from the snow colored wolf.
“ My name is Canada. ” The artic wolf gave a slight bow of her head in respect.
Elemental smiled warmly at them. “ Your help would be much appreciated, you two. But for now we will rest. It would be foolish to go out there with the weather like that, for we'll surely freeze.”
Solaris glanced at Canada, making eye contact for a moment until the female's gaze narrowed. Its final.
