Part 4
I can't let her go again. She won't let me go with her, but I have to go with this "Batgirl" character. Jay doesn't want me with her, but I will get to Jay. Tigress? Whatever, same difference. Jay can't leave me, not again. Or... Well, I can't leave her.
After a few moments, Batgirl and I had walked quite a distance. Her back was turned, and I immediately took that chance to turn and bolt in the other direction. Right back to Jay, almost there in an instant. I stood behind the golden haired female, watching as a strange old guy came out from behind a pillar.
"Jadynne al Ghul." The old looking male with a sword in hand and some green cape cloak thing grinned evilly, turning to Jay.
"I go by Jadynne Wayne, Grandfather." Jay replied calmly as the old assassin stepped closer to her.
The old guy pressed the sword blade to her neck, and I let out a low growl of anger. Jay stood surprisingly still, her expression calm. Her hands drifted to the back of her utility belt, opening up a little packet with one hand that she had retrieved from the pouch.
"You are an al Ghul." He snorted. "And your mother wants you back with the League of Assassins."
"Ra's al Ghul, I am not going back to that hellhole." Her teeth gritted. "I promise you that." Her Australian accent seemed to take it's toll in her voice, making her sound slightly more dangerous then she appeared.
"We will have you join alive." He growled, anger filling his eyes. "Or you stay here at the Lazourous- dead."
"I'd rather die then go back to training with Mother."
"Bruce is incapable of your training, Jadynne."
Jay kept her cool, straightening. "Bruce is more capable of completing my training with success, mate."
The old assassin guy pressed the blade into her neck slowly as I sprinted forward, knocking him off his feet. Jay looked at me in surprise, helping me to my feet.
The assassin growled something before walking away with a slight anger. A speedster could zip Jay out of here. And unfortunately, I am a speedster. And seemingly, he knew that.
"Ah, Bart...." She smiled softly. One of those special smiles, the faint, soft, kind smiles. Or one of those 'thanks for saving my butt' smiles. Or those 'stop being adorable' smiles. Or- You get the point.
I looked at her neck with a slight frown, seeing the pinkish red mark where the blade had been pressed into her neck. I traced the mark with my thumb, slightly worried. There could have been a serious injury, or even death, if it had been actually cut into.
"Are you o-" I was cut off by her giving me a tight hug, her arms wrapped tightly around my neck. At first, I was surprised by the sudden contact, but then I wrapped my arms tightly around her waist. "Aw, what? No kiss?" I say jokingly, and she looked up at me.
"You didn't ask." She says quietly, the red burning on her cheeks.
"I didn't ask for a hug, either." I grinned widely as I looked down at her. She wasn't going to do it. Heh, she probably didn't have the guts.
She stood on her tippy toes before pressing her lips gently against mine. I felt the heat rush to my cheeks, but I pulled her closer to me by her waist as I kissed her back, smiling softly. After a few moments, she pulled away, the blush in her cheeks burning brightly.
She proved me wrong. Again. This girl seemed to be full of surprises, and even if she was my best friend before, I didn't quite know what she was going to do next. I never did, and I never will. She always got a strategy in that pretty little head of hers. Even if I didn't know what it was, and if it could get her killed, which most of her plans could. I didn't remember much, but she... She brought back a few memories. Good memories, not those evil memories I always had in the back of my mind, trying to forget them before going to sleep at night.
