I waited for him to touch me, but I felt nothing. I was still too afraid to do anything. To move, to open my eyes and to make any type of noise. Then I heard the shut with a slight click, startling me a bit. Did he just... leave? Why would he ask for permission then leave?
As I was beginning to open my eyes, I felt Gage's finger slide down my back. I felt scared chills run through my veins as I tightened my eyes closed. I could feel myself urging to yelp, or cry or let some sort of noise escape, but I held it in as much as I could. But alas, a small whimper left my mouth.
"Shh. It's okay." Gage cooed softly, continuing to 'pet' my head and back with his fingers.
After a few minutes of extreme silence, I slowly blinked my eyes open. I could see Gage and his massive self as he sat upright gazing at me with his gentle smile. If I hadn't been so tense or scared I would've turned away. I didn't like it, even if it seemed friendly, every part of my body was screaming for me to run or fight back. My eyes were locked into his, looking more frightened than not. Feeling as if more tension could be caused, I peeled my eyes away and fixated my vision to the room around me.
It was huge! I felt kinda dizzy just looking around at it. Avoiding any type of conversation that Gage might have brought up, or any thoughts that could cause me anxiety, I quickly shook my head and snuggled myself into a ball, pulling the hood over me. The hoodie itself was already way too big for me, the sleeves going past my hands and the other part past my sides. It was almost like a blanket.
I watched Gage warily, still scared that he would do something to me. I forced myself to close my eyes, my body relaxed from its tense state and went limp against the pillow.
When I awoke, the first thing i realized was that I hadn't moved. I was still huddled up in a ball and next to the Gage's gigantic fluffy pillow. Ignoring the incredible pain surging through both my leg and sides, I sat up. I craned my neck upwards to see the window, seeing a few rays of sunshine making it past a leafy tree in front of it. It was obviously midday or nearly afternoon. How long had I been sleeping?!
I slowly staggered to my feet, going limp in one. I needed my crutch to walk, but I knew I wasn't getting it back. I had tossed it into the valley, hoping to never have to deal with it ever again, but now I really needed it. I gave a slight sigh and took a few hobbled steps forward before I fell on my bum. My leg stung with slight pain, making me wince at the sudden feeling. I felt my heart throb in my chest as I looked at my leg. It reminded me of too much. I just wanted to take it off and never deal with that as well.
"Why did you have to leave me, Tim. I miss you so much. I wish I could see you again. I wish I could see the four of us all together again.." I whispered quietly, reaching my hand out towards the window as if I were to grab something. Letting a few tears stray, I let my hand fall next to me on the bed's surface. My head lowered a bit as an odd realization hit me. I had to face it. I was alone and doomed here forever, with two "giants". My heart trembled at the thought of it. Even if I kept fighting what would it be for? What would the difference be? There wasn't anything left anyways.
"Shut up brain! Shut up! They're gone! There never gonna come back!" A furious shout left my body. It wasn't forced but it was intended. I felt full rage at myself, and in a form of self-harm, I punched myself in the face. Over and over I did it until a bruise formed next to my ear and lead partway into my cheek. Just as I was about to take another swing, something grabbed my hand.
I felt my mind and heart stop for a second, and a wave of shame fell over me. As much as I wanted to see who stopped me, I didn't dare look up. Instead, I lowered my head a little more.
"I-i'm s-sorry..." I stuttered barely making any noise as another warm breath blew across my face. I wanted to get away, there was so much running through my head and I wanted it all to stop.
"Why are you apologizing?" It was Gage's voice. He was still holding my hand gently with his fingers to prevent me from hurting myself anymore.
I slowly looked up the side of my arm until I saw Gage's hand. In a careless act, I pulled my hand away from him.
"F-for doing t-this. F-for b-being here." I hesitantly glanced up to see Gage's face a few yards away from mine. I felt my heart skip a beat and jumped back, instantly feeling my leg sting with pain.
"It's okay. I got you." Gage's eyes didn't leave mine as he sat up. He brought his hand under me, lifting me off the bed easily.
Gage gently scooped me up into his hands but didn't leave the bed yet. He was obviously trying to get me settled and calmed down.
Knowing how useless I was on my feet, I made an attempt to crawl away from the finger that were curling over me.
"Calm down. I'm not here to hurt you. It's time for lunch, and I know you haven't eaten breakfast yet so..." Gage explained, with a calm voice as he stood up. I couldn't help my struggle to escape. I was a far distance from the ground and I presumed that if I fell, that I would definitely be dead.
"P-please... put me down-n..." I whimpered squinting my eyes shut. Gage carefully set me on the palm of his hand then cupped his other hand over it, making it so I couldn't see the ground below me.
"Hold on just a bit longer, okay?" Gage whispered. I tried my best to hold as Gage walked to someplace, before letting me crawl out onto a fancy looking wooden table. In front of me was a tiny piece of bread and an apple slice, just waiting to be devoured.
"I hate to bug you again, but... what is your name?" Gage asked, sitting down in one of the wooden chairs behind me.
I swallowed hard, hoping that this moment wouldn't come. Would he want to change my name, like a pet..? I shuddered and was reluctant to answer.
"E-Evern." I finally explained, my voice quiet. Gage just smiled taking a bite out of his own food.
"It is nice to meet you, Evern."
