I rubbed my eyes as I slowly sat up. I looked around and grew confused as to how a pillow was below my head and a blanket on my body. Uhhh, whatever. I guess I fell asleep doing my homework again.... I looked at the time and nearly fainted. "Tikki! I'm late! I've gotta go!" Said kwami just rubbed her eyes and flew into my purse. I chuckled lightly at her and rushed getting ready. I had already missed the first period and a quarter of the second. I quickly slid through my trap doors, kissed my mom, grabbed a croissant, and ran downstairs shouting goodbyes to my parents, my book bag nearly tripping me on the door frame. I managed to shut it and twist it onto my back without loosing any of its contents and booked it to school. Being Ladybug has its downsides. I was up too late last night saving Paris.

Just as I was running up the steps I managed to snag my foot on the top of the stairs and fell flat on my face. Luckily, only my cheek was hurt, and not my nose. I grimaced slightly, having a high pain tolerance from being Ladybug, and got up, dusting off my jeans. I ran the rest of the way to my classroom and slipped in, trying to be stealthy. It must have been my lucky day, because I did it successfully and slipped into my chair behind Adrien, almost completely unnoticed.

I gave a small, content sigh at seeing Adrien again and tried to focus on the lesson that I partially missed. "Yo, Mari. Where were you? You totally missed Adrien turning away from one of Chloe's attempts to flirt with him! It was hilarious!" I sighed, throwing the idea of actually listening in class away as I thought over the situation. "No way.... Adrien shunned Chloe?! You have to be kidding me on this one! He usually allows her to walk all over him!" I whisper-yelled to her, but it seems that Adrien still heard me, because he turned his head slightly and met my gaze with his own. I felt my cheeks grow warm before I could detect the emotion in his eyes and I ducked it down, a small smile playing on my lips as he turned back to face forward.

Alya smirked at me and confirmed my hearing. "Yeah, I know right?! He completely turned around, kept talking to Nino and walked away." I smiled, but my eyes held frowns. "Why would he do that? Is he finally done with putting up with her, or some thing else?" And the most important question. Did he find someone else that he loved? And who was it? That was the only reason I could figure. Even if he was annoyed, Adrien was always sweet. I seriously need to work on my whispering, because Chloe heard me and scoffed. "He's just playing hard to get. Right Adrikins?" We both looked at Adrien, our conversation still unknown to Mrs. Mendeleiev. He had a look of disgust on his face. "Chloe, I told you, I've never wanted to date you, and know I know just how dumb you actually are. Just leave me alone." I was surprised by his harsh words, but he looked tired and I immediately felt sorry for him. It was probably hard to say that you didn't want to be around your childhood friend, even if she was a complete bully. I looked back at Alya as she quietly squealed. "Girl, he just practically said he was available! Ask him out!" I shook my head vehemently, blushing almost as dark as my mask. I lowered my voice super low, just to make sure no one else heard me. "No way. I'd rather keep it as us friends." I turned back to face the teacher and when I heard Alya start to speak again, I shook my head. I looked at her sadly and she seemed to understand. Someday I might confess my feelings to Adrien. Someday......

~Time Skip To End Of The Day~

I walked out of school, happy to finally be able to be Ladybug once more. I hated how clumsy I was when I was just Marinette. Ladybug gives that me confidence that I really need. "Hey Marinette. It's Thursday and I gotta go pick up my sisters from Daycare, can you come with me?" I smiled, even if it put my day on hold a bit, I loved hanging out with Alya. "Of course. I'll text my mom that I'm going to be a little later than expected." Alya nodded and smiled gratefully at me. "There's this creepy man that lives next to the building and I don't know what's wrong with him, but he gives everyone the creeps. Almost all of the kids there try to stay away from him." I nodded, remembering some creepy things that I always tried to stay away from when I was younger, like spiders.

Mr. Durand's POV

"I caressed, in order to soothe him. I knew of what he was thinking, and wanted to speak for him; but dared not. As he turned aside his face a minute, I saw a tear slide from under a sealed eyelid, and trickle down the manly face. My heart sw-" (Jane Eyre, pg. 375) A child's cry could be heard above my thoughts and I grew furious. Every time I tried to read at least one good book they have to ruin it with their unwanted wailing! I stuck my head above my fence and glared at the offenders sitting on the back porch of the house that is now a day care. "Would you please silence the child? I am trying to read in peace." I was sick of children. "I'm sorry sir, but you will have to deal with the noise. We can only try to quiet them and make them fall asleep. Children are hard to handle sometimes, Sir." My rage boiled over as I went into my house and tried to place my book back on the shelf, after bookmarking my page. Quickly, a butterfly flew into the room and landed delicately on my outstretched book. It seemed to phase into it, and I immediately lost consciousness.
