Liam's POV
I had finished my daily run around the house and was wiping the little sweat that trickled down my face, when I received a spontaneous text from Cath.
Did I say text? No I meant texts.
Hey
Get ready and be in the café in 10 minutes.
Make that 9 minutes.
I'm with Ivy and I think today's the best time for you to tell her.
No but's, just go change already.
See you soon.
I looked at the messages Cath had sent, she had a point and it just dawned on me that Ivy still didn't know who I was or even in the slightest how I felt about her and I had to make those two things before she leaves for school this weekend.
So I ran into the house, took a ridiculous shower of 3 minutes to wash away the sweat from my body and got changed into my usual outfit.
I got into my car and drove off to the café which was a bit far off, and as soon as I got seated, Ivy and Cath walked in.
And at that moment I saw how Ivy fazed up when she saw me.
I stood up and looked at the beautiful girl who stood not less than five feet apart from me, and I could feel my heart literally begging to be let out of my chest.
Now this was a feeling I really needed to get accustomed to.
I came out of my usual spot and took long strides towards her, it was as if my whole being was craving for her presence.
"Hey Ivy," I said when I finally stood in front of her,
"Hey," she said before I hugged her, she flinched a bit before hugging me back, Lord knows how much I really wanted to inhale her scent but if I did that it would be awkward,
"It's been a while," she said as I let her go,
"busy lives, right?" I asked her as she smiled and nodded while fidgeting with her phone which reminded me I hadn't asked for her number,
I noticed Cath had disappeared leaving us both to catch up on our "busy lives",
"Oh shoot, where are my manners?" I said, earning a giggle from her, as she took a seat.
"Thanks," she said putting a lock of hair behind her ears, I couldn't help but notice how she placed me in a trance so many times, and this time wasn't an exception.
Soon she lifted up her gaze from her phone and looked at me, I guess she might have felt my staring.
"So Liam, isn't it funny how we don't have each other's contacts?" She asked me as she placed her phone on the table,
I scratched my neck a bit and let out a laugh, "I was thinking the same thing actually...but it's my fault I never asked," I said truthfully, I saw her nod realising that it was actually true,
"So let's do that, shall we?"
"Ivy Danes would you do me the honor of blessing my dear phone with your mobile number?" I said while kneeling on one knee, while holding out my phone to her, Ivy let out a hearty laugh, and that was the time Cath decided to show up, is there such a thing as perfect timing with Cath?
No.
No there wasn't.
"Oh my Lord, mom come look at this, Liam's already proposing to Ivy" Cath yelled out to her mom, I felt flushed all of a sudden, Cath ships us hard and now she just made me picture a scene of me proposing to Ivy, and then I couldn't help but imagine her in a wedding gown walking down the aisle.
"Cath, you do know we normally have a few customers who come in around this time of the day, so you shouldn't yell you'd scare them off," Olivia said as she cleaned her hand with a napkin, "my my, I thought she was joking but Liam what are you doing?" She asked as everyone started laughing once more.
"Sure thing... Liam...Liam," she said as she didn't know my full name, I placed my phone in her hand as she typed her number onto my keypad,
"What a casual way to accept a proposal Ivy," Cath said as rolled her eyes and went back to the kitchen with her mom leaving me and Ivy laughing.
I was still in my kneeling position, when I cleared my throat,
"Uhm, why are you still on your knee?" She asked while raising one brow, to say she looked hilarious was an understatement but she did look cute and I wouldn't mind her glaring at me everyday.
"Oh that's because I think I like the floor, it feels so floory," I said earning a little laugh from her, I'm on a streak today, "on a serious note though, would you like to go out with me, tonight?" I asked her as she scrunched up her eyebrows, before her face morphed into in a mischievous one
"Do you mean a date?" She asked as I felt blood rushing to my cheeks,
"Uh-hh a date? Oh no..." I started when she cut me short,
"Oh you don't wanna go out with me?" She asked once more,
"Nooo, I do wanna go out with you, just now's not the time," I managed to say,
"Do I look that bad?" She asked referring to her clothes,
"No, it's not that, you look perfect... Its just..."
I was cut short once again, "I'm just messing with you," she laughed, " so what do you have in mind?" She asked as she took out her phone and took a picture of me, "this would come in handy some day," she added with a wink as I stood up and took my seat still flushed.
"Well, you'll see, I just hope you like what I have in mind," I said as Cath walked in with Ivy's regular coffee.
* * *
Soon, we were in my car and driving down the road, with I'm so tired by lauv ft troye sivan playing through the car's stereo speakers.
When I noticed we were close to where I was headed, I parked the car and opened the door for Ivy.
"Why did we stop in the middle of nowhere?" She asked as she absorbed the environment,
"Well, the place I'm taking you to isn't accessible by cars and its more fun by foot, so let's go," I said as I held out my hand to her,
She looked at me and back down to my palm, then smiled and placed her hand in mine.
We discussed about random things and I learnt more about the girl beside me, she was really something, something I would never want to loose.
Soon we reached the clearing that led to the lake that I had planned to take Ivy to.
As soon as we reached I could see her widened expression, the moon shined brightly here, with it's reflection on the surface of the beautiful body of water before us.
I took her to the bank where we sat down and chatted some more, soon we were both laying on our backs discussing about constellations.
The stars shimmered in her eyes and I couldn't stop myself from staring into those eyes, then as though God wanted to prove that everything was possible, Cath's messages floated through my head.
"Ivy," I called out to her as I sat up,
She immediately sat up as well, with a worried expression worn on her face, "is anything wrong?" She asked and I held her hand in mine,
"I have something to say," I said as she urged me to go on not until her phone started ringing,
"Uhm, Liam could you excuse me a sec?" She asked as I nodded and she responded to her phone call,
As soon as she stood up, I couldn't help but face palm, this was my golden opportunity and now I had lost it.
She came back not so long and said "I'm so sorry I have to leave, Mom's calling cos there's an 'emergency', so we'll talk tomorrow?"
I nodded as she came over and pecked my forehead, "thanks for tonight, Liam" and with that she disappeared through the trees as we came in and I was left love sick.
