♡Same Old Love♡
"What?" I said, barely a whisper.
Tears starts to overflow in my eyes as I look at the man in front of me. My fiance.
"I'm not magically in love with you and I don't know if I can handle the huge amount of love you keep giving me anymore," he stated, with no hint of emotion or sincere. "I'm sorry that you're so into me. I'm sorry you're so in love. But..." He grabs the ring off of his right ring finger and lays it gently on the table in front of me that's separating us from one another. "I'm not marrying you."
Everything... Just everything fell all right in front of me. My heart was up to my throat and I couldn't breathe.
He... He... He broke up with me.
I collapse to the floor, sobbing all my buried up emotions that were held inside my soul. I couldn't believe it. I cover my mouth with my right hand, which wore my engagement ring I received from him.
This couldn't be happening.
"I have to go," my fiance coldly said, not looking at me.
Then, he walks right past me and out the door, leaving me behind. He never returned since...
That's exactly what we are. You are the one that introduced me to everything, made me love you, loved me back, and also broke my heart.
But no matter how hurt I am, I'll always love you. Always. I'll stay with you forever. And not only will I not notice it, but deep down I will compare every other person to you. And none of them will love up, because you were my first and last love.
I'm not who I used to be. Why? Because I've been hurt. I've gone through a lot of shit which has made me who I am today.
Over these past years, so many things have happened. Things that have changed who I used to. Little things, big things. Everything. As time passes, no one stays the same person. People tell me that I've changed.
Don't you think I know that? Of course I've changed, I'm not going to stay the same person forever. Pain does that to people.
Someday... Someday I'm going to meet someone so wonderful that I'll forget all about 'the-fuckin-jerk-face-who-broke-my-heart-today'...
8 years later...
"There are fifteen ambulances on the way, maybe more to come. First one is three minutes out," Dr. Mark Phillips informed, putting on the last of his blue gloves with his scrubs.
All the surgeons are lined up in front of the emergency entrance, waiting for the next trauma. Half of the doctors are covered with yellow suit, covering their scrubs, while others are wearing their white lab coat over their scrubs.
"People... People..." Dr. Charles Mason started, walking out in front of all the doctors. "All traumas fresh and we are going to have feelings today and there's no shame in that. What I want to say is what we went through six months ago, they are going through right now." Everyone was nervous, but focus their attention towards Charles. "Which makes them our brothers and sisters, which makes them fellow travelers," he continued. "Which makes them our own. So to the very best of our ability, we are going to do our work first and you're going to have your feelings later."
As Charles' short and powerful speech comes to an end, Dr. Jennifer Clark starts to cry. Her head was down, wiping her tears trying to not acknowledge the memory six months ago.
"Jen," Mark said, turning to look at her.
"I'm fine," she replied, regaining her posture back. She takes a last deep breath before crossing her arms over her chest, waiting for the ambulances. "I'm fine," she reassured with a louder tone.
Mark gives a slow nod, but looks over to Dr. Mason Matthews. Mason catches Mark's eyes, telling him to tell Jennifer to do something else.
"Go to the pit and make sure we're stock," Mason said, looking directly at Jennifer.
Jennifer shakes her head. "I'm fine," she said with a hint of worriness, losing eye contact with Mason.
"Call the blood bank," Mason repeated with a demanding tone. "Tell them to give us all the O negatives they have."
Jennifer starts to move a bit in her place, feeling jumpy and nervous from the trauma. Feeling unneeded, she sniffs and walks back into the hospital to call the blood bank.
Mark raises his head towards the sound of the sirens, along with all the others who were aware of the loud noise. The first ambulance comes in front of the entrance and two paramedics comes out. Charles steps towards the vehicle, along with Dr. Ann Cole.
"I gotta cop. Cody Harper," the paramedic quickly informed as he opens the back doors. "28. He got shot on the right arm and left leg."
"This one's mine," Charles announced towards the doctors. As he turns back, he sees a fellow friend.
"Dr. Mason."
"Sergeant," Charles answered, looking at the man who's sitting next to the patient.
As the sergeant stands up, in front of him, the paramedics gently pulls down the patient on the wheeled stretcher onto the ground.
"Alright kid, get him in trauma 1. Less trauma series and x-ray this leg and arm," Charles stated, looking at Ann.
"Ok," Ann replied as she follows and helps bring in the injured cop.
"This is the cop that took down the shooter," the sergeant implied, standing right next to Charles as he points to the cop on the trolley.
Charles looks at the patient he has and puts his hands on his hips. "You're kidding?" he questioned, looking at the sergeant.
"He was on the radio and landed a shot and he went down," the sergeant answered. "I got good-looking reports about what the shooter looks like, so if you can wake Harper up, get him talking."
"Harper...?" Charles wondered as he turns to go into the building.
"Cody Harper. He's a good kid and a great cop. One of ours," the sergeant commented with certainity as he forms fists with his hands, walking with Charles.
As the two men walks into the hospital, another ambulance arrives.
Dr. Nick Hunters and Dr. Angel Anderson runs towards the ambulance.
"What do you have?" Nick shouted towards the paramedic.
"Russell Harris. Professor. 48, the paramedic quickly informed as she opens the back doors, helping the patient off the ambulance. "Was helping students onto the roof from a four-story window. has an open skull fracture and a flowing fever."
"He fell," a paramedic from the back added.
Nick gets to work and gently rests his hand on the forehead as he examines the injured surgeon's eyes with a flashlight.
"We helped him get out of the window and onto the roof, but he tried to do it himself and slipped," mentioned the paramedic.
Putting the flashlight back into his lab pocket, he points towards the entrance and gives a little push to the paramedic who's pushing the gurney. "Get him into the E.R.!" Nick shouted as Angel follows after the gurney.
The next ambulance arrives and Mark walks towards it, but turns to Nick. "You okay?"
"Everything about this is okay," Nick replied, running after his patient into the hospital.
Mark turns his attention back to the ambulance and walks quickly to the open back doors.
"15 years old. Lilian Vega," the paramedic quickly informed as another paramedic pulls out the next victim. "She's been hit in the leg and abdomen. Abdomen ridges to 75. Last post like 50."
Dr. Tyler James writes down the information given about the patient, but then looks up. "She's 15?" he asked.
"Yeah," she replied as she helps pushes the patient towards the building. "Look at what's being a genius gets you."
"Go to trauma 3, page Woods," Tyler stated, following behind the trolley.
"Ivan Powers. 21 years old," a paramedic quickly informed to Mark and Dr. Kathleen Cooper, handing Mark a clipboard as he runs to the back. As the two doctors looks at the information, the paramedic continues. "Single entrance wounded to the left. Intercostal space. No exits wounds. Almost lost finals in front of us. There's this emergency thoracotomy we called in about."
Mark holds his hand in the air, looking at the paramedic. "There's a thoracotomy in the field?" he asked, looking back to the clipboard.
"No I didn't," the paramedic implied.
The doors opens up and reveals a paramedic, a patient and a familiar person. The two doctors looks up to see a live thoracotomy in front of them.
"I had to crack his chest," Dr. Michelle Carter stated.
Mark's and Kathleen's eyes widen with shock to see Michelle in the back of the ambulance with her hand inside the guy's chest, pumping and massaging his heart.
A few hours ago...
"Can you direct me to the Prudential Tower?" Michelle poses this question to a cyclist on the street.
She's lived in Boston for years, but never really explored the city. The Prudential Tower is southwest, but Michelle heads northwest. She's following a caravan of ambulances. Something has happened. Something everyone at Massachusetts General has been through before. Something that nearly destroyed Dr. Michelle Carter.
As all the recent patients wheels into surgery, more victims flood into the hospital. The problem was that there were no operating rooms available. Mark has a plan, but doesn't look all that confident about it as he sets up the trauma rooms as operating rooms. He orders Ann to create the equivalent of a MASH unit in Outpatient Recovery.
Charles wants to get the look reports on the shooter, so he performs a painful procedure, while the cop was unconscious, to wake him long enough so he can give the description. As soon as he receives the description, he informs Kathleen and Michelle that the patient they are trying to save is actually the gunman. Many surgeons refuse to help this particular patient, but as for Michelle, she's staying.
Tyler's 15 year old patient has gunshot wounds to the leg and abdomen. Dr. Michael Woods wants to do an amputation, but Tyler thinks they can save the leg. He sees Jennifer in the observation room and pleads with her to do something, so she runs out. Jennifer hustles to get privileges from the Charles as Tyler body-blocks Micheal from getting anywhere near that leg. Getting the privileges, Jennifer assists Tyler as a frustrated Dr. Woods storms out of the operating room.
The men and women of Massachusetts General work with speed and skill in a "mosh pit" of surgery. Ann stabilizes Cody Harper, the hero cop. Charles gives Jennifer the support she needs to pull her patient through. Tyler and Dr. Alec Jackson did their best to save a student, but it's only after Dr. Christina Matthews' unyielding words to the man upstairs that the patient starts to improve.
Nick operates on Russell Harris, a professor. He doesn't understand why his wife, Olivia keeps running out to update the professor's wife. The reason is that Olivia was that very same worried wife just six months earlier. Olivia asks everyone in the waiting room to follow her. There's something they need to see. It's the Harvard University alma mater holding a candlelight vigil outside in a stirring, emotional show of support.
Many patients are treated and all of them survive the eventful day. This is wonderful news to the families, but only shooter's mother is still in agony. She has no idea what's happening to her son and Alec realizes that she is also a victim. He comforts the mother by telling her what he knows along with the promise of an update. Then, he heads off to the OR observation deck as Kathleen and Michelle continue to work on the gunman.
All of the doctors are watching as Kathleen and Michelle operate. As a result, the patient survives. First, there are tears, then smiles, then joyous laughter from everyone.
Company files is spread out, practically overflowing Asher Grey's desk. A mountain of papers was piling up on his desk as he continues to work and sign all the paperwork. As a billionaire and head CEO of Grey Enterprises, it's no wonder he has so much paperwork to handle. He lives off of coffee and has trouble sleeping, so he uses sleeping pills to help him. While typing a document on his laptop, a knock rings into the room.
"Enter," he answered, not taking his eyes off of the screen.
His office doors opens and reveals a beautiful woman in a casual, mini, chiffon dress. Not noticing who entered in the room, the woman walks around the desk and wraps her arms around his neck from behind.
"Hey Honey," the beautiful woman said, leaning her body towards Asher.
Asher sighs as he removes her arms from his neck. "Leave me alone Misty."
"Why? It's not like you're doing anything important," she implied.
He groans and turns around in his seat.
"Not now. I'm busy with work, can't you see? All you want is to have sex with me," Asher mentioned.
"That's because I need you!" Misty whined as she seducingly touches Asher's chest.
Asher slaps her hand away from her and turns back to his computer. "Do something beneficial for once."
"Fine!" she cried, rubbing her hand that got slapped as she storms across the room and sits down on the sofa.
As Asher was busy working on his company, Misty was already bored and turns on the plasma tv in the office.
Asher stops once again and pinches his nose, while closing his eyes to not lose control. "What did I just sa-"
"MAJOR TRAUMA #2 IN MASSACHUSETTS GENERAL"
The news floods the screen and Asher's attention turns towards the tv.
"Just in Boston, Harvard University had shootings and many students and professors were injured. All victims were sent to the Massachusetts General Hospital for emergency operations. This was another trauma that the doctors faced six months ago in Massachusetts General. The trauma that nearly destroyed Dr. Michelle Carter."
Just as the news reporter finishes her report, the screen changes to a surgeon who has microphones towards her. Misty, not liking to watch news, changes the channel to something more entertain. But as she does so, something caught Asher's eyes.
"GO BACK!" Asher shouted.
Misty jumps a bit from the sudden shout from Asher and nearly drop the remote. As she as she changes the channel back, the image of the surgeon appears on the screen. Asher's eyes widen and couldn't believe his eyes.
"Dr. Michelle Carter!"
"Dr. Carter!"
"Michelle!"
"Who was your patient that you just saved?"
"Did this trauma destroyed you this time?"
"Did everyone survive?"
"Who's the shooter?"
"Where were you during the beginning of the trauma?"
"Six months ago, what did the trauma do to you that nearly destroy you?
All the reporters starts to flash questions in front of the surgeon, but Asher couldn't pay attention as his eyes never left the eyes of the familiar woman on the screen.
'Selena....' Asher thought as he looks at the tv.
On the screen, Dr. Carter turns to face the reporters with a serious, determined look.
"My patient was 21 years old, Ivan Powers. He was shot on the chest and had to have emergency thoracotomy. I was suppose to go to the Prudential Tower since it was my day off, but apparently I went in the wrong direction and saw a caravan of ambulances. I followed after it and helped perform thoracotomy to the shooter in the back of the ambulance. Yes, everyone did survive and with everyone's skills and speed in surgery, everyone survived with success... No, this trauma didn't destroy me this time."
Asher hears the familiar voice that speaks from the tv and was memorized by it. Then, something hits him.
'She didn't answer the last question...'
Hearing his thoughts, one of the reporters thought the same thing and asks the question again.
"Dr. Carter, six months ago, what did the trauma do that nearly destroy you?"
Asher stares at the screen and realizes that her face shows a little sign of discomfort. The tv shows that she didn't say anything, as the police comes over and separates the reporters from the surgeon. As the voices of the shouting reporters echoes through the office, Asher focuses his attention on the doctor.
'What was that?'!'
Just before the screen changes back to the news station, Asher sees a slight image of the doctor touching her stomach. He wasn't sure if she was touching her lower abdomen or not since it was a bit blurred, but deep down he knew something happened. Something he felt guilt and regret towards.
"Can I change the channel now?" Misty whined, playing with the buttons on the remote.
"Yeah, sure," Asher said, barely a whisper as he slowly sits down in his seat.
"Huh? What was t- oh forget it." Misty ignores what he has to say as she changes the channel to netflix to watch Fifty Shades of Grey.
Asher turns to his computer and immediately searches up her name.

Asher tries again, but this time he searches up Dr. Michelle Carter.

Seeing this, he clicks on the first link and pops up a picture of the woman that he just saw on the news. Another picture appears as he scrolls down of the directory of surgeons in the hospital. Continuing down the page, he reads a paragraph about the surgeon.
Full Name: Michelle April Carter

Michelle April Carter is a researcher, chief medical officer, and director of cardiothoracic surgery at the London Clinic and formerly a cardiothoracic surgery fellow at Harvard Medical University. She was raised in London, England and is a graduate of Cardiff University. She earned her Ph.D. in Biochemistry from University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, and she earned her M.D. from Harvard University, where she graduated first of her class. She did her internship and residency at Massachusetts General Hospital...
Asher turns his seat around, facing out the window wall from behind. He stares out and was lost in his thoughts.
'Dr. Michelle April Carter, huh?'
Asher puts his hands together, crossing his finger against one another.
'You changed your name, I see. Didn't you Dr. Selena Angelina Hale?'
Putting his hands to his face and closes his eyes with guilt. He moves his hands above his face into his hair, stressing out with what he has done.
'I left you... For eight years...'
"I'm so sorry," he muttered as he covers his face.
"What did you say sweetheart?" Misty asked, looking towards him with a scene of BDSM occurs on the tv screen.
"Nothing," Asher replied coldly. "It was nothing."
Misty shrugs and just as Asher was about to think back about Selena, Misty turns off the tv and seductively walks over to his desk, swaying her hips. Asher just sighs with a hand on his head seeing this scene happen.
'Why am I so unfortunate?' he wondered.
Misty stops herself in front of Asher's desk and leans her body towards him. She traces Asher's jawbone to his cheekbones down to his lip, and just as she was about to kiss him... The phone starts to ring out into the office, echoing its annoying sound.
"I have to take this," Asher implied, completely relieved.
Misty pouts and as she tries her attempt again, Asher gives her one of his coldest glares.
"Get the fuck out... Now!" Asher shouted as he picks up his receiver.
Misty looks irritated as she storms out of the room, shutting the door hard from behind. Once she left, Asher sighs and answers the phone.
"Hello?" Asher answered.
'....'
"Hello?" Asher said again.
'....'
"Huh?!"
The call ends on him and Asher was lost.
'Who was that?' he thought to himself.
Asher sighs to himself again and stands up from his seat. He walks over to one of his bookshelf and picks up a picture frame. Inside the picture frame was a picture of Asher and Misty. The background was a party. A fancy party held by Mr. and Mrs. Carpenter, Misty's parents. The picture shows Asher and Misty together as Misty smiled brightly with her arms wrapped around Asher's torso. Asher, however, was different. He just looked at the camera with an emotionless look, one of his famous looks as the paparazzis stated with one of his arms loosely around Misty's waist.
Asher looks at this picture and sighs. It gives him so many bad memories when he sees this picture. It was taken 8 years ago by his parents and Misty's. It was taken on the day he took his things and go. It was taken on that day where he left his fiance. Asher punches the wall hard as he was upset with what he has done.
"ASHY ENGAGED?!"
"ASHER AND MISTY TOGETHER?"
"WEDDING OF THE YEAR?"
"ASHER & MISTY"
"SO HAPPY!"
"ASHER & SELENA THE END!"
Headlines were flooded on the day before that horrible day as the Greys and the Carpenters announced to the paparazzis and the press that Asher and Misty will be married. It was an arranged marriage for the businesses to be together. The Carpenters family has one of the best CEOs in the world, along with Grey Enterprises. Working together would change the world for both CEOs. Misty was grateful and was happily going along with this, for she had always wanted the Asher Grey, however, questions were erupted about Selena.
With everyone's questions about Asher's and Selena's relationship, the Greys showed discourage and lied to the press that Selena ran away from Asher. The paparazzis were shocked and questioned to Asher and just as Asher was about to tell the truth and announce his engagement with Selena on Valentine's Day, Misty ran over to him and kissed him for the press. With no engagement announced about Asher and Selena, Asher was forced to marry Misty and break the relationship with his fiance forever.
Misty knew about Selena, but never met her. However, she hated her ever since Asher chose her over the daughter of a billionaire. When hearing that she's going to be married to Asher, she bursted with joy as her dream finally came true as Asher's fell apart. Luckily, Selena didn't see the news since she was on call at the London Clinic. On that night, there was a party held for the newly engagement in the Greys household in Paris. During the party, Asher was forced to drink tons of drinks and eventually got drunk. Seeing this, Misty took her chance and led him up to his bedroom for the night.
Very early in the morning the next day, 2:14 A.M., Selena came home to Asher's penthouse, the home the two share. Thinking that her fiance is in bed, she tried to surprise him by jumping on top of him, however when she did, there was nothing but softness underneath. Selena was worried, but figured that Asher was on call to for the business, so she slept, for the first time, alone in bed. Around 6 in the morning, Asher woke up with his head pounding in pain. Not remembering anything, he turns around and sees a woman naked, thinking it's Selena. But as he was about to kiss her, he realized something. The naked woman was Misty. He had sex with Misty. Asher was furious, flinging the covers away and changed back into his clothes. Then, he immediately left the room to go back home in London.
He was furious, not only the fact that he had sex with the girl he didn't love, but the fact that he betrayed his beloved fiance. When he arrived home, he sees Selena in the kitchen making breakfast. Usually, he would have a smile on his face, but he didn't due to the guilt within him. When Selena turned around to set up the dining table with breakfast, she saw him and ran over, giving him a hug and kissing him on the cheek. She was beautiful, dressed in a white long, lace nightdress with a white cardigan sweater. Asher looked down at her, seeing her smiling brightly up at him... And that was the last time Asher saw her true smile, filled with happiness.
Asher turns the frame around and removes the back. Inside was a collage of Selena and him put together. It was taken on Valentine's Day. The day he proposed to Selena as his future wife. Seventeen pictures into one. Asher still remembers the day he and Selena put this collage together.
It was the day after Valentine's day. The day after the day Asher Grey proposed to Selena Hale. After their special day, the two relaxed at the penthouse, in each other's arms. It was a beautiful, peaceful day and the two were looking through the pictures that were taken the day before. So many pictures that held more than a thousand words. Leaning her head on Asher's chest, Selena held two pictures in her hand. One from Valentine's Day and the other was a picture of the two at the Greys' charity ball. Looking at this, Selena had a wonderful idea.
She looked up into her newly fiance's eyes and told him that they should put all their favorite pictures together into a collage. Asher looked down at his fiance and gave her his special smile, only she could see. He loved the idea, so the two spread out their favorite pictures on the coffee table and put all the seventeen pictures into a collage. As the two were putting the collage together, the two reached for their favorite picture, which turned out to be the same photo.
Reaching for the picture, the two grazed their hands. Selena drew her hand back and blushed at the slight contact as Asher smiled, grabbing the picture in his hand. He gently holds Selena's hand as the two put their favorite picture in the center of the collage. Looking at the final completion, the two smiled happily to each other. Selena, then wrote on the picture and stands up after to put it in a frame.
When she finally puts the frame up on Asher's bookshelf, she felt a pair of hands curling around her waist from the back. Her back was pressed to his chest, as he rested his chin on her shoulder.
"It's so beautiful Asher," Selena smiled, leaning her back.
"You're more beautiful," Asher mentioned, nuzzling his face in her neck.
It was the best thing he ever seen, besides Selena herself. Asher, then pushed the hair on Selena's neck to one side and kept kissing her neck.
"Ash! Cut it out!" Selena said, moving her head.
However, that didn't stop Asher as he gained more access. After that, the two spend another romantic day together.
A tear slips out of Asher's eyes and falls down onto the picture the two both loved in common. He slowly tear up as he gently holds up the collage he and Selena worked on together. Just then, he realizes something. Sunlight was shining through the windows, reflecting into the picture, which reveals some writing in the back. Turning it around, he sees a familiar handwriting written on the back of the collage.
Asher,
You are my true love. Each night I thank the stars above. The care and kindness you show me each day simply takes my breath away. Each memory we share, I hold so dear, I cherish your love of the year. My love, I hope you see, you are everything to me.
Love,
Selena
A sob escapes from the billionaire's mouth as he falls to his knees, clutching the collage to his chest. It was all his fault. It was his to begin with.
"I'm so sorry Sel."
Just then, something hit him.
'Selena was touching her stomach... With her right hand!'
Asher immediately stands up and runs to his computer, searching up the latest news on her.
'There!'
Asher pauses the video and zooms closely at the Selena. On her right hand was a rose gold, diamond ring. The ring that he proposed to her on Valentine's Day. Looking down, he sees her touching her stomach.
'Does that me-'
He couldn't believe it and wants to know the truth. Asher grabs his phone and calls Massachusetts General Hospital.
'Come on... Pick up!'
"Surgery. This is Cooper," a female voice answered.
"Hi. Can I talk to Dr. Carter?" he replied.
"I'm sorry, but she's unavailable right now. If you are a reporter, I'm reporting you to the police."
"No! No! I'm a..." Asher pauses for a second and thought to himself. 'Should I mention that I'm her fiance or a... This is going to break me...' "I'm a friend of Michelle's."
"Really? I highly doubt that. I suggest you end this call or you'll be behind bars!"
"Please! Are you a friend of hers?"
"I am."
"Meet me tomorrow at 10 in the morning, out in the courtyard of the hospital."
"Wha-"
Asher ends the call and sits back in his chair. Ever since he discovered that Selena left, he searched everywhere for her. He called the FBI. The CSI. Every country's government. He couldn't live without her. When he realized what he had done, he ran back to his penthouse to apologize with Selena, but she was gone. All her stuff was there, but herself. Seeing this, Asher begged his parents to hold off the engagement. His parents wondered why, but allowed the engagement to be hold off for eight years, thinking it was about business. Eight years have passed and nothing, till today. Sadly, tomorrow was the day he would be married to Misty.
He grabs his jacket and runs out of his office, not caring about anyone looking at him, thinking he's crazy.
"Wait for me Sel. I'm coming home."
The next day, Kathleen waits outside in the courtyard of the hospital, waiting for this 'so-called friend' of Michelle. It was 10:15 in the morning and this person was late.
"I'm going to beat the shit out this fuc-"
Just then, a man appears, running towards her. He was the hottest man Kathleen has ever seen. Just then, realization hits her. This wasn't just any man. This was Asher Grey. The Asher Grey!
'Oh my God!'
Stopping in front of her, Asher looks at the surgeon as Kathleen looks up at the hot, tall man.
"A-Asher... G-G" she said, but was interrupted by his finger on her lips.
"I know. Come with me," Asher said, dragging her to a cafe nearby.
Asher puts a pair of black shades on as Kathleen looks at the man in front of her.
"What are you doing here?" Kathleen asked, still in shock.
"I called you yesterday, didn't I?" Asher answered.
"But I thought you... I'm so sorry! I didn't know!" she exclaimed, bowing her head for threatening him.
"It's okay. Raise your head."
Kathleen raises her head. "So what are you doing here exactly? Why wanting to talk to me?"
Asher sips his coffee. "I want to talk to you because you're the closest person I know that is friends with Sel- Michelle."
"Okay? What about her family?"
Asher looks down, placing his cup its small plate. "They're... dead."
"What?!" Kathleen looks at him with wide eyes. "How... How do you know?! No one knows about Mic-"
"I'm her fiance..." Asher admitted.
"You're... Oh my God!"
"Do not speak any of this!"
"Of course. But if you're her fiance-"
"I left her since I was set up to be married to Misty Carpenter. When I came back to apologize, she was gone, so I searched for her for eight years."
"Eight years?!"
"Her real name is Selena Angelina Hale."
"Sel- No it can't be."
Asher looks at Kathleen and holds her hands. "Tell me this. Why was Sel touching her stomach? What happened six months ago to her?!"
Kathleen was shock and looks away, drawing her hands back. "Six months ago, it was the anniversary of her son's death."
"S-Son..." Asher barely said, leaning back in his seat.
"Eight years ago, she was operating an appendectomy, but collapsed. It turns out that one of her fallopian tubes bursted and had to go into an emergency operation. I was her surgeon..." Kathleen whispered.
"Did my... I mean our son survive?" Asher said, looking at her.
"He didn't make it," Kathleen barely whispered, looking her head down.
Asher sinks in his seat, hearing the news about his son. His son didn't make it.
"Everyone was surprised to see that Mich- I mean Selena pregnant. No one knew who was the father and thought it was a one night stand."
Asher pounds his fist on the table, causing the glassware to shake.
"It wasn't a one night stand!" he shouted, causing everyone in the cafe to turn around and look at him.
Kathleen's eyes widen and calmly tells everyone to continuing doing whatever. "However, I knew it couldn't be cause..." she points down at her right ring finger. "She had an engagement ring. Every time I kept asking her who it was from, she always said that she got it for herself."
Asher controls his temper and sits down in his seat. "It was from me. I proposed to her on Valentine's Day. Here." He gives Kathleen the collage that was hidden in his picture frame.
"Oh my gosh. You... Her..."
"I need to see her."
"You can't. She's bu-"
"I have to. I'm forced to be married today and I need her back now." Asher stands from his seat and runs to the hospital.
"Asher! Wait!" Kathleen shouted, but it was no use.
Hearing about Asher Grey in Boston, reporters and paparazzis comes running over to the hospital where he was at. The Massachusetts General Hospital was surrounded with people around the world, as the police tries to block them from entering.
Asher runs into the building before the police could stop him. He runs pass the nurses, which chase after him. Asher needs to see her. It was his only chance. He sprints his heart out, going up the stairs to the surgery department. Not only were there nurses chasing after him, but security, visitors and female doctors.
All Asher wanted was Selena and that's what he's going to get. Opening the door to the 30th floor and runs out into the hallway of the department. Just then, he sees a familiar face in sight and shouts.
"Sel!"
The surgeon froze, hearing the nickname she didn't heard for eight years. She turns around, towards the familiar voice and her heart stops, seeing the man she once loved right in front of her. Asher looks at the woman he always love and takes a step forward towards her. Selena's eyes widen, still in shock of what was happening. Once Asher stops in front of her, he gently takes her hand and looks into her eyes. He gently strokes her warm cheek, the warmth he miss for eight years comes back. His fingers, then went to her chin and tilts it up towards him. Asher looks into her eyes as Selena looks back at his, tears falls down her face as Asher wipes it with his thumb, delicately.
"A-Ash-"
"I love you Selena... I searched for you for eight years and I finally found you. You don't know how happy I am right now."
"I..."
"Sel..." Asher gets down on one knee, just like eight years ago, kissing the ring on her ring finger. Selena starts to cry, not knowing what emotions she's feeling. She finally sees the man that she loved after eight years. Seeing the reenactment of the proposal eight years ago, Selena looks down at Asher with the same tears in her eyes. Looking up to the girl he loves, Asher says...
"Will you marry me... again?"
