A single hot tear runs down my cheek as I take one last long look at the place I'd learnt to call home. "I'm sorry." I whisper, turning out the door to meet the taxi that has been waiting for me.

Sitting down in the dingy cab, I pull out my phone and turn it off, then shoving it back in my pocket. "Where to?" The driver asks.

"Take me to the London Airport."

"Dan! I'm back...and I brought cereal!" I yell, dropping the grocery bags on the counter. "Dan!?"

I rush up the stairs, worry building up inside me. What if he tried to hurt himself? What if someone hurt him?

As I reach the tøp of the steps still calling Dan's name, I begin to Panic! when I still get no reply.

Practically running into his room which now lay bare, I find a small, folded piece of notebook paper in the middle of the bed. I quickly begin to unfold it with shaking hands, desperately trying to read it. Tears begin to run down my cheek as I read the letter word for word.

Phil,
If you are reading this you have probably already noticed that I'm gone. This might be shocking for you but just give it time. Pretty soon you'll forget about me and all of my selfish problems. After all, I'm not really something to be dwelled on.
The reason I left is because I didn't want you to end up resenting me for making you put up with all of my problems and issues that will never be solved. What I want more than anything is for you to live a happy healthy life. I want you to find a boyfriend or girlfriend that you can share secrets with and confide in, that you can have fun times and adventures with. Someone that you can love and will love you back unconditionally. I want you to find someone that can give you the things I never could or would ever be able to give you.
I love you so much and believe me, I always will. But you know what they say, if you love something, let it go. That is exactly what I'm doing.
Please don't look for me, don't dwell on me. Forget about me and move on with your life. I love you so much, my beautiful ray of sunshine.

I'm now fully sobbing, my constant tears wetting the paper. I gently fold it back up with trembling hands and slide down against the wall. I wrap my arms around my knees which are now clinging to my chest, and begin to bawl, sobs wracking my body. What have I done?
