Chapter Five
Dawngaze was padding across the FogClan border, patrolling the border between the two clans. She head a russle in the bushes and a tom came out with an apprentice. The white apprentice narrowed her eyes and she padded away solemnly at the tom's command.
"I am Hawkshadow. Deputy of FogClan. Also, what is your name? Also, why are you in FogClan territory?" The Tom asked.
"Uhhhh- your on your side of the border and I am on my side. I am not in anyone's territory." She explained holding her tail high. "Also, I am Dawngaze. Deputy of MarshClan."
"Oh, I've heard Cloverstar died? Eaglecry is now leader?" Hawkshadow asked.
"Yes, and never call him Eaglecry. He's Eaglestar," Dawngaze hissed.
Hawkshadow nodded and turned. He waved his tail farewell and dissapeared through the bramble. Dawngaze turned around and noticed that she did actually cross the border- the border being a small valley with water you can wade in and apprentices could splash around in it- nothing else. She didn't notice she even got wet either. But her paws were actually very wet, now soaking with water. Dawngaze turned, looked behind her and set off to camp.
The scent of mouse clung to Ivypaw's fur as she brought a mouse to Daisyfoot. After, she was going to give borage to Honeydusk and then get some prey from the fresh-kill pile for the elders, and the cats who were sick. The elders were all sick- Sunclaw, the eldest of the elders, had whitecough, Gorsefoot, the second eldest, had whitecough and then Flowingtorrent, the youngest has had a cold, not greencough nor whitecough- nor the deadly blackcough. Just have had a bellyache and aching joints. Ivypaw walked out of the Medicine cat den, borage in her jaws. She saw Dawngaze return into camp. She had two mice in her jaws, bringing them to the fresh-kill pile. Dawngaze trotted back into camp, only to return with mice. The prey is plentiful, Ivypaw guessed and trotted back towards the red oak. They used to call it Abandoned oak- but now there was two pronunciations for the oak- one of which Ivypaw called the Oak tree and Red Oak. Icypaw saw Honeydusk, her head on her paws. All Ivypaw's littermates were playing at least near the entrance of the Red oak. Honeydusk nodded and took the borage leaves after Ivypaw got there and dropped them. Ivypaw had brought a lot- not planning to come back after the fresh-kill trip for the five cats. Honeydusk left at least a couple of the leaves, only eating one. Ivypaw had moved the borage leaves to the root of the great oak that Ivypaw used as an isolation place for cats who were sick. A cry came from the Medicine cat den. It was Eaglecry's yowl.
