Russell sleeps a little bit like a cat. Even in the car I could tell because he had his slender arms wrapped around himself. Not only that but his legs were tightly together and pulled up ever so slightly to the chair. He didn't look comfortable at all but I thought maybe if he were in a bed he'd stretch out enough for just slip in between his arms. I bet he's one of those who says he's cold but when you touch him he's really hot and you almost think theres something wrong with him. But there's not he's just really really warm. I raised an eyebrow with one last look at the road. With my right arm I just reached over to his cheek. My hand was upside down to him if you think about it, but I was right. He was really warm. My fingers traced the constellations of freckles, barely visible in the light, on his cheekbone. Then out of the corner of my eye I saw it.

A huge read truck coming right at me. "HOLY-" I Swerved back to my side of the road running off the side a little but I slammed on the brakes. Russell was thrown into consciousness as soon as I screamed. "Lucky! Lucky hey what happened are you okay?! What's going on!?! Hey!" He put his hand on my thigh gasping without even knowing what happened. He looked dazed. I leaned forward on the wheel. "Oh my god. Tha-"

"What is it?! Lucky?" I swallowed hard. My throat was dry.

"red." He leaned back in his seat quietly. I saw him swallow and I saw him sweat. Maybe he didn't feel as cold as I thought. I started to babble. "I'm sorry Russ I just it just there was a truck that was driving to far on my side and-" I was lying of course but he stopped me with out even looking at me. "You said red."

"Lucky I need you to tell me you are for sure that the truck wasn't grey it was defiantly red." I nodded looking in his solid brown eyes. We had the little car light on which gave us a way to see inside the car. He just stared at me for a long time. Then i spoke.

"Have you seen it...?" Thoughts erupted in my brain. How long has he been seeing colors and what does he know about them? Has e read the same websites I have the same books? Does he itch to see them as much as I do? Am I the reason he sees them?

Something clicks with me as he speaks softly again.

"How long have you seen them?" Our faces were so close I might have saw a bit of yellow glare but I just kept watching the brown. What a soft color. I swallowed thinking I knew where this was going.

"You're eyes are brown. They're so..." I reached to them letting out a dry laugh. He smiled. "They started really a few weeks ago. All I've seen is brown and maybe yellows every once in a while. And that red..." I pointed out the window. "That was beautiful."

"I know." He said as he leaned forward. Just a bit not enough to kiss me but he paused. And it wasn't the kiss that surprised me it was the pause. I inhaled sharply as if I was preparing or something but when he kissed me it was soft.

Really soft. He still seemed hesitant so I took his hand, cooperating with his lips. He took air through his nose and moved further into me. After that first kiss I felt cold. He placed a hand on my cheek as we drew in breathes.

"You feel hot." He said and I laughed and jumped to him, not knowing what I was doing really but enjoying every minute of it. He's made me see colors.

He saw the colors in me.
