Untitled Part 3
The wind was cool as it brushed against Lukas's skin. At 16, he, Lukas Johnathan Deadman, was going to do something that not even the Elders of the High Church of the Dark Gods would dare think of trying.
He was going to create one of the Ancient Beasts.
He opened the book, kneeling before a baphomet that he had drawn in his own blood, which stained the leather covering of the book and was now getting on the page he had written. He winced as he thought about how stupid, but worth it the pain in his hand and the stained book would be once he had created his fantastic creature. He removed his glasses, placing them by a tree on top of the pile of his clothes, knowing they would break if he left them on, and he then walked back, guided by the strange, pulsating feeling in his hand and chest, and he heard a voice in his head, whispering to him, beckoning him, commanding him.
Give her life.
He knelt before the baphomet, staring at the bones in front of him and taking a deep breath. He looked at the book, cleared his throat, and began to recite the Latin he had found in the book, carried through the night, but heard by none other than himself.
"De sanguine et os meum et vocavi te. Peccatum autem animae viventis, Deus tuus ego sum." The words left a tingling sensation on his mouth, and he felt his body beginning to heat up, burning almost. He squinted his eyes as the baphomet began to glow a deep, yet intense crimson that stung his eyes, and held up the blessed silver knife he had stolen from the Church's sacred shelf of tools, slicing his hand open yet again, trying not to cry out in pain as he placed it in the centre of the baphomet. His eyes shut from the stinging pain, and the wind around him grew louder and louder with the words he had spoken moments ago, as if six people were screaming into his ears as loud as they could and paying his pain no mind, growing even louder until it all stopped, and he felt something on his hand.
Hot breath.
His eyes shot open and he stood up, then looked down to his feet.
There.
There she was.
A small animal, fur covering all of her but the top of her head. Everything visible from her upper jaw to about three inches before her ears began was pure, white skull. There were no eyes on the small, wolf pup sized creature before him, but he could tell that she was staring right back at him. He swallowed hard, feeling bile rise in his throat from the dizziness of standing up and how sick he felt after what he had just done.
Wait.
He had done it. He had done it!
"Holy Gods of Darkness... It worked...!" A laugh forced its way up his throat as the creature approached him, a strange sounding yip coming from her as she looked up at him. He bent down and gently rubbed under her chin, causing her to stick out a long, pointed tongue and pant. He continued to laugh, then heard rustling in the woods. He felt his heart stop and his breath catch in his chest. He walked over to his clothes and scrambled to put them in, putting his glasses on and trying to seem like he didn't know what he was doing there. The creature followed him, staying behind him and invisible unless the person looked down and between his legs as he walked. He quickly made his way to the empty local park, sitting on a bench and sighing. He had to give her a name, and figure out where to keep her.
"Hey kid. What're you doing out here?" A deep, gruff voice startled him, making him jump.
"I-I needed some air.. I should be heading back now." He knew something was wrong. His bones felt like they were heating up, like a fire had been set to them and it was slowly burning through him, growing hotter as the forty-something year old man grabbed his arm.
"How about I give you a ride? I have a phone you can use." His skull burned hor, as though it could liquify his brain at any second.
That's when he heard the growling and a shriek of terror, drowned out by the wet hearing sounds of someone's throat being torn out by the jaws of an animal.
No, not A animal.
HIS animal.
He looked to see her devouring the man whole, flesh and bone. When she turned and looked at him, pieces of the man's flesh and entrails stuck out from between her teeth and blood was splattered along the skull section of her head. Lukas shuddered, unable to do anything but watch her as the hot sensation in his bones faded away. Finally. when there was nothing left of the man but a pool of blood, he found that he could move again. He knelt down and scooped her up, hearing soft whispers in his ears, a word, no a NAME, being spoken to him by no one.
"I'll call you... Zylia."
