There's a little elf

Checking up on me

Sneaks outside my house

Peeking from bare tree

If I sit quite still

Listen for a sound

When the time is right

Turn my head around

At the windowpane

Did I see a flash?

Did my eyes deceive?

Or can that elf dash!

So I must be good

Do my chores each day

No cross words from me

No cause for dismay

There's a little elf
