Darkness melts as light slips in

Bird song rises to a din

Body rolls on gentle sheets

Breeze whispers away the heat

Spine and legs stretch like a cat

Feet hit floor to pitter pat

Mind shakes off dreamy fog

Stumble over sleeping dog

Fingers fumble as we eat

Clean up spills, nice and neat

Kin rush out to meet the day

I work from home, so I stay

Office windows opened wide

Bringing nature's sounds inside

Office lights, rays from the sun

Keyboard tapping, work gets done

When workday ends, kin return

Share together what we learned

Feast and drink, then we play

Singing song stirs dog to bay

Eyes droop and yawns pop out

"Time for bed." Kiddies pout

Rushing rain breaks overhead

As we slide into our beds

"Good night" rolls round and round

Dog waits till there is no sound

Room to room he softly shuttles

Till he finds invite to cuddle
