Epilogue
Epilogue (4 years later)
“Are you ready?” Niall asks me.
I adjust my tie and nod. He smiles and walks outside with me.
“I can't believe today is finally here,” he says, before walking to his spot, “Good luck, Marcel,” he says patting me on the back.
So much has happened the past four years. I just recently graduated from Harvard, and Cami graduated from Berklee. I'm currently writing a book, like Cami suggested a few years ago. It will be published in a few months, but you already know that story. You lived it with me.
The boys are doing great. They're taking a break from tour, they've become really popular since being on the X-Factor. They didn't win, but they've won the world. Maybe you like their music and listen to their songs. I've performed at a few of their shows, I even have some fans. I've written some of their songs too.
Cami and I, well, we're still together. I couldn't imagine being with anyone else but her. She's the love of my life, through the good and the bad. You're probably wondering what's happening now, so I'll continue on.
I stand on the dock of the lake and nervously twiddle my thumbs. The lake is exactly how it used to be. Nothing has changed. It's one of the few things in my life that has remained the same.
The wind is blowing lightly, not too much, but just enough. The faint smell of the lake and sweet flowers fill the air. The sun is shining and is causing the lake to glisten like diamonds. It couldn't be more perfect.
Louis walks over to me and smiles, “I couldn't be happier for you right now, Marcel.”
I smile, “Should I be this nervous?”
He shrugs and walks over to the rest of the boys.
I can't wait to see Cami. I wonder if she's as nervous as I am.
The music starts to play, and I smile at my mom who is sitting in the front row.
Lux, the flower girl, walks slowly down the aisle in her light purple dress, sprinkling dark purple flower petals. Theo follows behind her, a pillow in his hands with the rings. Zayn's daughter, Izzy, is standing beside him holding a dusty box.
My breath catches when I finally see Cami. It's like falling in love all over again. She smiles shyly as she walks closer to me. My heart is racing and I can barely stand.
She's beautiful.
Her long white dress is simple, but gorgeous, just like her. There's crystals on the top that shine like a million stars.
She's my star.
This can't be happening. It feels like I'm dreaming. It seems like just yesterday I had stood on this dock late at night and jumped into the lake with Cami. So many memories in this one spot.
Our spot.
Cami gets to the end of the aisle and her mom let's her go. She's letting her daughter go. It's finally time.
“You look breathtaking,” I whisper.
She blushes, “I love you,” she says, before holding my hand.
I'm in a daze as the minister talks, and before I know it, he's asking me to recite my vows.
My throat feels dry and my heart is pounding in my chest.
Izzy walks over with the box, and she searches for the envelope. Inside the box is all the trinkets from four years ago, and the letters we wrote that will now be used as our vows. She takes out the envelope and passes it to me. I slowly open it and pull out two letters. The letters we wrote four years ago, in this very spot. We haven't read them until now. I don't even remember what I wrote. I hold mine tightly and give Cami hers.
I clear my throat and unfold the paper. My voice seems unsteady, but I begin to read, “Cami, I love you today. I'll love you tomorrow. I'll love you until the end of the Earth.
“Today is May 20, four days until we graduate. We're 18 years old. If you ever read this, I hope you read this with a smile on your face. I hope you're not reading this while you're sad. I hope while you're reading this we are still together,” I pause and smile, “You are the best thing that has ever happened to me. You are the reason for the smile on my face. You are the reason I am happy.
“Do you remember that time I got stuck in the rain? It was a few days after we met. I've never told anyone this, but if you didn't pick me up at the bookstore, I was going to kill myself,” I look up from the paper, “Let's try to forget about those times,” I say, before continuing to read, “But because of you I didn't. I waited a little bit longer. Now look where that has gotten me.
“And our first kiss. It was so awkward, yet amazing. I'd never felt butterflies in my stomach like that. They tickled, but in a good way. Then, every time I thought of you, I couldn't help but smile. I wanted to be with you all day, everyday. I didn't want to be without you. And I never want to be without you.
So by the time you read this, it may be in twenty years. We may be old and wrinkly, or we may be young adults. But no matter how many years, I hope we're still in love.
I love you, Cam,” I pause after I finish reading but add on to my vows, “Cam, you were my first love, my only love. I can't imagine my life with anyone but you. I love the fact that I get to call you mine. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I love you.”
Cami's eyes fill up as she opens her letter and begins to read, “Marcel, I've never been very good at writing letters. You've always been the writer. I apologize if this letter is horrible, but maybe it will be the best thing you've ever read,” she laughs lightly as a tear slips out of her eye and continues to read, “I remember the first day I met you. You were pushed down in the hall, and your glasses fell off. You seemed so scared. I asked about you. I didn't know your name, but everyone seemed to know you. They referred to you as the 'smart guy' or 'Mars.' They didn't tell me much other than that. I made a decision that I wanted to know more about you.
“I'm glad I made that decision. You are the nicest, funniest, and smartest person I have ever met. I never thought I'd meet someone who was genuinely nice to everyone, but you proved me wrong.
It always astounded me that no matter how much you were bullied, you were still kind to everyone. Never once were you mean.
“You make me a better person. You know how people say there's someone who brings out the best in you? Well, you bring out the best in me. You inspire me and make me so happy. I don't know what I'd do without you... So, I guess what I'm trying to say is that you are amazing. That sums it up. You're my star. I love you,” she smiles and looks up, “Well, that was a short letter. Proves how bad I am at writing. Marcel, I believe that everyone has a soul mate. Only one person that's made for them. One person to share their heart with. And I believe that you are mine, and I am yours. I look forward to spending the rest of my life with you. I can't wait to see what comes our way, good or bad. But as long as I'm with you, I'll be okay. I love you with all my heart.” She smiles, and I gently wipe the tears off her cheeks.
The minister begins to speak, “Do you, Marcel Styles, take Cami O'Donnell to be your lawfully wedded wife?”
“I do,” I say smiling.
“Do you, Cami O'Donnell, take Marcel Styles to be your lawfully wedded husband?”
“I do,” she says happily.
“You may now kiss the bride.”
I lean in and kiss Cami, the love of my life.
I kiss my wife.
Everyone cheers as we walk down the aisle in the white limo. They throw rice, and we laugh as the rice hits us. When we get inside, Cami quickly kisses my cheek.
“Cami Styles. I like the sound of that,” she says smiling.
“Mr. and Mrs. Styles. Sounds lovely to me.”

Louis stands in the center of the floor, holding a microphone tightly in his hand. He waves at me and smiles.
We're in the dining hall now. It's nicely decorated, with different shades of purple and silver. Soft music plays in the background. I'm sitting next to Cami, holding her hand in mine.
Louis clears his throat and taps his wine glass. Everyone turns their attention to him politely. “Hi, everyone. I'm Louis. You probably already know that. I don't really know where to begin. I don't even know why I'm the best man. But anyways... I met Marcel in high school, but we never really talked until after I graduated. Since them, we've become quite close. He's one of the best friends I could ever ask for. He's always there when I need him, and he always will be. He'll be a great husband and a great father someday. Cami and he are two of the kindest, most caring people I have ever met. I've never met anyone more perfect for each other. You can tell by the way they look at each other how in love they are. They're inseparable. Just look at them. And in all the years I've known them, they've never lost that love, even when they are fighting. I want to wish the both of them the greatest marriage for many years to come. Don't ever lose that love because it's precious. It only comes once in a lifetime. Now, let's see them dance!”
Niall starts to strum his guitar and he, Liam, Zayn, and Louis begin to sing.
A/N: Play the song I attached. Or listen to it afterwards. It's an old song, but I love this version. And if you're on your phone or can't see the video, it's Can't Help Falling In Love by Ingrid Michaelson.
I stand up and reach towards Cami.
“May I have this dance?” I ask Cami, just like old times.
“Yes you may,” she replies with a small smile.
I hold her hand in mine and walk towards the dance floor. She rests her head on my chest as we sway to the music.
“We haven't done this in awhile,” she whispers.
“I know. We haven't done it since we left for college.”
“I didn't realize how much I missed dancing with you.”
“I promised it wouldn't be our last dance, I never break a promise. Even if it is a little late.”
“I don't care how late or how early. I would wait a million years to dance with you.”
“Like a river flows surely to the sea
Darling so it goes
Some things are meant to be
Take my hand, take my whole life too
For I can't help falling in love with you,” I sing softly in her ear.
I can feel her heart beating against mine. He dress flows against my legs and her breaths tickle my ear.
“I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you,” she whispers.
I wonder what things will be like in a few years. I wonder if we'll have kids. Two kids seems like a good amount. I'm not sure I'm ready to be a father, but I know when the time comes, I'll try my best.
The song ends, it barely lasted long enough. It felt like a second.
I guess that's what love feels like. Everything goes by so quickly. But every moment is special. It's a whirlwind of emotions, good and bad. It makes your heart beat faster and your stomach flutter. I still can't fully describe what love feels like, and I don't think I ever will. It's just something you feel inside.
Cami holds onto my hand as we walk back to the table, and she smiles when we sit down.
“Today's been the best day of my life,” she says.
I kiss her cheek, “I've never been happier.”
After a few minutes, it's time to eat the cake. The cake is beautiful, with white frosting and light purple flowers. I hold Cami's hand in mine as we cut the cake. We cut out a small piece of cake and take a bite. We agreed not to shove it in each other's faces. Cami didn't want to ruin her dress. Which is fine with me because I didn't want cake on my face.
I look over my shoulder at Niall, who is talking to his girlfriend Ellie. The girl who finally learned to love. I introduced them a little over a year ago, and they started dating shortly after.
Zayn and Perrie are dancing with their daughter. Liam and Louis are laughing about something at the dessert table.
Everyone's happy.
Things do get better, I've lived to tell.
I smile to myself and think about how far I've come. From the boy who barely spoke to the man I am today. Who would've ever thought I'd turn out like this.
Life is a beautiful gift, and I don't intend on being unhappy with it ever again.
This is officially the end. I love you all, and thank you for reading this all. Thanks for reading the good chapters, and the not so great chapters. You've stuck through this all with me. Thank you so much. If you get a notification that I updated, I might go through and edit this fanfic. I'm not sure though.
I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving. Happy Hanukkah too. And Christmas and Kwanzaa and whatever holiday you may celebrate. :)
Stay tuned for possibly a Niall fanfic in 2014. :)
Goodbye for now. I love you all.
