Note I have no real idea how this happened

~~

Alain was a boy who saw no light in his path. He didn't have anyone to turn to. His mother died giving birth to him, and recently, his dad died in a car crash. His siblings, he didn't have any - they never got to see the light outside of his mother's womb.

He sat there, staring into the window. Still not wanting to believe such a tragic tale, but everyone around him had better things to do than to allow him to cry, they were impatient enough to yell at him to "suck it up" and that "you are not this kind of person to feel so horrible about such a simple thing".

Mairin sat in another room nearby, worrying about Alain. He was alone, just him, no one else to help him. Yet, Mairin felt like Alain just wanted time alone, to think about everything. She didn't know what to do! Since when did she have to give pep talks? She watched him sitting there, his eyes helpless and alone. No sign of courage, no sign of any want to do anything but sit there.

Alain continued to sit there, wondering so many things. One, where would he go? He had little to no money, and had completely run out of food and water. Would he have to starve? Go dehydrated? Find an Orphanage? Become a foster child? So many questions filled his mind, worrying him, and saddening him even more at the same time. Alain continued to stare, his eyes watering.

"Alain?" Someone called.

"Yes?" Alain answered.

"It's me, Ash, I heard what happened." Ash called out to Alain, sitting next to him. Alain ignored Ash and stared out the window.

"Alain, are you okay?" Ash queried, staring at Alain with sympathy shining brightly in his eyes.

"Yeah, I'm fine." Alain huffed quietly, not taking his eyes off the window.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, and stop talking to me."

"Okay... If you wan-"

"Leave me alone."

Slowly, time passed. Alain stayed there, in that room, staring out the window. Mairin watched him, asking herself things.

"Alain...?" Mairin asked, her voice piercing into Alain like a knife. He looked up, and over to her. She smiled, giggling happily.

"Alain, c'mon, I wanna show you something!" She cheered, seeming so joyful, so happy that it almost hurt Alain. Alain sighed, getting up and following Mairin away from the house.

It took awhile, but they found themselves at a small pond. Mairin smiled in relief, she didn't want to be lost. Mairin sat down, motioning for her friend to sit next to her. Alain was still sad. Still alone. But, she felt like he didn't have to be alone.

"This place sure is a nice sight..." Alain muttered, looking around, sighing and taking in the fresh air, a faint, so, so very faint, smile drew to Alain's thin lips.

"Alain, this place is all you need, since I heard what's gonna happen to you..." Mairin told Alain, and made Alain worried.

"What's... What's going to happen"

"You don't have any home anymore..." Mairin whimpered, staring into Alain's shocked, saddened eyes. He said nothing else. Just sat there, and Mairin knew nothing else on what to do. She gently pecked him on the cheek, startling him.

"You're going to be okay. I'm going to be here the instant you need me." Mairin muttered, leaning against his shoulder. Alain smiled, some of his worries vanishing.

"Thank you, Mairin."
